Has Trump's attack on Syria changes the narrative about his ties to Russia?

Courtesy of Politico:

In Russia, they call it kozyrnut’. It means “to play a trump card.”

Donald Trump’s missile strike this week against the Russian-backed Syrian regime not only damaged its chemical weapons program, it also happened to give the U.S. president a useful political tool.

Now, whenever anyone accuses Trump of being too cozy with Russia, he can point to the strike against Syria as evidence that he’s willing to defy the Kremlin: Kozyrnut’.

The missile strike on a Syrian airbase came just days before Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is due to visit Moscow, and the implications could be wide-ranging for Trump's relationship with Russia, which kept its push-back largely rhetorical.

The political side effect, meanwhile, could burnish Trump’s defense against claims he is too close to Russia amid ongoing federal probes into whether Moscow tried to swing the 2016 election his way.

“Many people have had concerns that Trump was going to be too soft on Russian President Vladimir Putin, but clearly the actions this week would alleviate some of those concerns, at least in the short term,” said Alex Conant, a Republican strategist who previously worked for Sen. Marco Rubio, a Trump 2016 rival.

This, this right here is what we have to guard against.

Now I am not going to go all Alex Jones here and suggest that the gas attack on the Syrians was a 'false flag attack" orchestrated by Putin and Assad in order to provide cover for Donald Trump.

I don't have enough evidence to really support such a claim. (Though it IS interesting how little damage our missiles did to that airfield, and how bizarre it is that Russia did not try to shoot them down.)

However I will say that whether it was intentional or not currently Trump surrogates are all over the Sunday cable shows pushing the narrative that now we can put that whole Trump/Russian collusion nonsense to rest.

But no we certainly cannot.

This essentially impotent response from Trump does NOTHING to suggest that he and his team were not working with the Russians to steal this election from the American people.

So it is up to us to remind idiots on our Twitter and Facebook feeds that this investigation is still ongoing and that as of right now there is plenty of evidence to suggest that the Russians absolutely did what they did to get Trump elected, and that some of Trump's operatives played an active part in that.

I will state publicly that no Syrian has to die to convince all of us that Trump was NOT working with Vladimir Putin. All he has to do is release his taxes going back about ten or twenty years.

You know, like every REAL president has done since Richard Nixon.

  4. Seriously? We did not bomb the airbase airstrip as a concession to Russia. I hear the only planes destroyed were too badly damaged to begin with to move. Syria had hours to prepare for the attack as we apparently alerted Russian forces so there would be no collateral damage to piss Putin off. And Syria was able to use their airstrip to bomb the gassed city the day after the missile attacks. What a joke of a message to send our enemies.

Since I think the Syrian bombing was done with the approval of Putin, it hasn't changed my mind at all about the GOP/Trump campaign and administration ties to the Russians. In fact, I think the bombing, so clearly a diversionary attempt, only reinforces my opinion. I'm afraid, though, that the mainstream media, which simply loves war, does not see things the way I do.

Hackers Warn Trump to Get Back in Line on Syria
The mysterious hacker group the Shadow Brokers resurfaced this weekend to threaten President Trump over his actions in Syria—likely proving they were puppets of Putin.

In the waning months of the Obama administration, just as the White House began confronting Russia over its election interference, a mysterious hacker group called the Shadow Brokers appeared, and started causing big problems for U.S. intelligence agencies. The hackers had gotten ahold of secret NSA hacking tools, and they were periodically releasing portions of the cache for the world to see.
Eight days before Donald Trump’s swearing-in, the hackers announced their retirement, bolstering suspicions that the Shadow Brokers were part of the Kremlin’s sophisticated hacking apparatus. They haven’t been heard from since. Until now.

On Saturday, the Shadow Brokers blazed back to life to release another tranche of NSA files. This time they’ve abandoned their former pretext of being mercenary hackers looking to make a buck. In a lengthy open letter to Donald Trump, the Shadow Brokers explain that they’ve returned to protest the US missile strike against a Syrian airbase Thursday – an action that marked Trump’s first significant move directly opposing the will of Russian president Vladimir Putin. And they warn the president that he will face consequences if he doesn’t revert back to his former policy of leaving Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, a Putin ally, alone.

“Respectfully, what the fuck are you doing?,” the hackers cautioned Trump. "Is appearing you are abandoning ‘your base’, ‘the movement’, and the peoples who getting you elected.”

To security experts watching the group, the Shadow Brokers’ resurgence now leaves little doubt that Putin is pulling their strings. “It’s almost certainly the Russian government,” says Jake Williams, founder of Rendition Infosec. “Whether they’re directly Russian government or controlled by the Russians, all evidence points there.”

Trump Secretary Of State Admits Syria Missile Strike Was A Bogus Charade

...Tillerson was asked about removing Assad, and he gave an answer that could have been written by Putin. The Trump administration is working with Assad on combating ISIS. They never had any intention of taking action that would damage Assad. The missile strike was a charade. It was intended to make Trump look strong while accomplishing nothing.

The idea that a brutal dictator like Assad will ever voluntarily step aside and allow free and fair elections is a fantasy, and the Trump administration knows that it is never going to happen.

The American people were duped a president who has no Middle Eastern policy and seems more than happy to bow down to Putin.

The Syria missile strike was an empty gimmick carried out by a puppet president who believes that the American people are too stupid or distracted to see through his fiction.

During an interview on Meet The Press, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) turned the tables on Trump and warned Republicans that they should be helping the middle class and rebuilding America instead of spending more money on the war in the Middle East.

...Sen. Sanders said, “All that I’m saying here is that we’ve got to be clear about what our goals are and not do it unilaterally, and understand. Also, may I say that when we have a collapsing middle class and 28 million people without health insurance, and an infrastructure that needs a trillion dollars of repair, that maybe we don’t want to throw trillions of dollars more into perpetual, unending warfare in the Middle East.”

Bernie Sanders showed America the difference between a real deal public servant who cares about the middle class and a pretender.

Don Beyer (D-VA) took to the floor after air strikes were launched against Syria to make clear he would still be demanding an independent investigation into Donald Trump's relationship with Russia because his constituents demand answers. And he is not alone.

TV journalists love a good war story, and they will prop up and praise a leader like Donald Trump while ignoring the issues surrounding acts of war. It is time to be vigilant and hold the press accountable, because it is already happening.

Send emails off to MSNBC and CNN specifically - they love the war action. Absolutely asinine!

Tell them the 'investigations' into Trump and his connections to Russia and Putin are what needs their investigation and coverage.

Trump is an absolute horror to and for the United States of America. Remember, he does not represent the majority of Americans!

He needs to be impeached and there are already multiple reasons to begin the legal action against him!

I call bullshit on the idea bombing a lone Syrian airbase that was made operational 12 hours later proof Trump isn't in bed with Putin. He gave Russia advanced notice which cleared its soldiers out of harms way. Also, it wasn't a front line base. Looking at photos of aircraft shows low budget jets more apt for training than actual war. Wag the dog ol Donnie, you abysmal Loser.

  26. Depends on who you listen to.

ALL of the late night shows are calling Trump on his fake strike. How both the Russians (and the Syrians) knew before it happened so the airbase could be evacuated and that the air base was being used 24 hours after the strike. Yeah, that's how effectual it was. How he told the Russians but didn't bother to tell Congress OR to get approval. The hypocrisy of Obama having to ask permission and being denied and how Trump disapproved of Obama's plans for retaliation against Syria for the EXACT same thing.

    On and On and On.

They're not putting anything over anyone except the Dicks that were gullible enough to swallow the Republican propaganda in the first place. Nothing is going to grow brains in those sterile skulls.
