Newsweek points out that for a guy who claims not to have any ties to Russia Donald Trump sure enjoys using their dirty tricks.

Courtesy of Newsweek:

What’s interesting to note, however, is that the Trump media-management style borrows heavily from propaganda techniques honed by the Russians. These include negativity and disdain toward institutions and the traditional media to demoralize the “enemy” and the widespread use of disinformation (false assertions or allegations), such as Trump’s unproven accusation that President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower illegally.

Another technique is called “whataboutism.” This is the use of false moral equivalencies to reduce the truth to just one of many possibilities. It litters the conversation and gives equal play to ludicrous assertions.

For instance, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly questioned Trump’s admiration for Putin and called him a “killer.” The president responded by saying, “We’ve got a lot of killers.”

Propaganda techniques include hacking to embarrass or impair rivals, as happened during the election, but also to perpetuate “fake news” or hoaxes on social media sites. The most odious example involved Hillary Clinton and a Washington, D.C., pizzeria and pedophilia.

The cumulative danger of these shenanigans is serious, writes Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny: “Paid trolls have made it impossible for the normal Internet user to separate truth from fiction.”

He said such efforts are paid for by Russian officials and oligarchs to gain control over media outlets they don’t own, with the added benefit of spreading lies internationally.

Another gambit is known as “gaslighting,” named after an American suspense film about a man who drives his wife mad by accusing her of doing things that she didn’t do—but that he had done.

An example was when Trump began labeling critics who prove his allegations to be inaccurate as “fake news” purveyors. Such memorable lines are repeated in order to become a hashtag on social media or a colloquialism.

At this point new evidence that Donald Trump and his campaign were working in collusion with the Russians to steal this election is literally popping up everywhere.

And yet he continues to deny that fact and dares the media to prove otherwise.

Trump reminds me of a toddler caught elbow deep in a chocolate cake.

The toddler will deny to his last breath that he ate the cake despite literally being covered head to toe with the evidence of his crime.

The alarming worldwide alliance of parties on the far right hasn’t been seen since the 1930s

Political parties on the far right are today enjoying a surge of support and access to government power that they have not experienced since their heyday in the 1930s.

This phenomenon is particularly striking in Europe, where massive migration, sluggish economic growth, and terrorism have stirred up zealous nationalism and Islamophobia. In France, the National Front―founded in 1972 by former Nazi collaborators and other right-wingers employing anti-Semitic and racist appeals―has tried to soften its image somewhat under the recent leadership of Marine Le Pen. Nevertheless, Le Pen’s current campaign for the French presidency, in which she is one of two leading candidates, includes speeches delivered against a screen filled with immigrants committing crimes, jihadists plotting savage attacks, and European Union (EU) bureaucrats destroying French jobs, while she assails multiculturalism and promises to “restore order.” In Germany, the Alternative for Germany party, established three years ago, won up to 25 percent of the vote in state elections in March 2016. Led by Frauke Petry, the party calls for sealing the EU’s borders (by shooting migrants, if necessary), forcing the migrants who remain to adopt traditional German culture, and thoroughly rejecting Islam, including a ban on constructing mosques. According to the party platform, “Islam does not belong in Germany.”

Carter Page went to Russia with secret recording of Trump asking Putin to hack election

...In a column over the weekend, Mensch alleges that “sources with links to the intelligence community” believe that “Carter Page went to Moscow in early July carrying with him a pre-recorded tape of Donald Trump offering to change American policy if he were to be elected, to make it more favorable to Putin.”

The report claims that Page “was authorized directly by Trump to request the help of the Russian government in hacking the election.”

Mensch comes to the conclusion that Page, former campaign manager Paul Manafort and former aide Boris Epshteyn were “were all acting in concert as agents of the Russian state first and foremost, and Trump staffers second.”

“Because the provision of such a tape to Putin would clearly be the ultimate in kompromat on a future American President (far worse than any sexual blackmail tape),” Mensch notes.

The Washington Post reported last week that the FBI obtained a secret court order allowing agents to spy on Page as part of an investigation into links between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.

Mensch writes: “[T]he point is that intelligence sources say that Page, Manafort and Epshteyn, possibly also with Trump, are on tape discussing how Page should carry a recording of Donald Trump to Moscow, offering his bona fides in exchange for Russia’s help hacking the election.”

“[M]ultiple foreign intelligence services, among them the UK, Germany and Ukraine, have a tape of this; and that finally, in October, the FBI was able to listen to that tape.”

Rachel Maddow’s excellent reporting on Trump and Russia is driving Fox News crazy

It is clear Rachel Maddow is scaring Fox News. She is beating them consistently in the ratings and her reach is increasing. Just maybe some Fox News addicts are weaning themselves off the crack.

It is clear that Rachel Maddow is having an impact because of her in-depth reporting. She gives serious print journalists their due. And that is a disturbing proposition for the purveyors of false news and misinformation.

WATCH: Army Vet WRECKS Trump – Here’s the REAL Reason He Gave Generals More Control Over Bombing

...Army vet Jason Kander, speaking on CNN’s “State of the Union,” has hit the nail on the head for why Trump really gave that control to his generals:

“I believe he wants to take credit for good things when they happen, and blame generals when bad things happen.”

Kander also explained that there were only two acceptable answers to why Trump would make such a move: He’s the commander-in-chief, and he also needs to defend the reasoning behind why a commander on the ground actually made the decision to bomb Afghanistan with the biggest one we’ve got.

Had the MOAB failed to do anything at all, Trump would definitely have blamed the general who actually authorized dropping it. Kander backed his position up by explaining how Trump blamed the generals who were in charge of the failed Yemen raid, where we lost Navy SEAL Ryan Owens. Instead of saying, “We lost him,” Trump said, “The generals lost him.” Kander also used Trump’s own pseudo-explanation of whether he authorized the MOAB drop to back that truth bomb up:

“If you think back to when he was asked whether or not he approved the dropping of the MOAB in Afghanistan, his answer was something along the lines of, it started with ‘Uh,’ and then it went from ‘Uh,’ to ‘Everybody knew exactly what was going on,’ which was, of course, the opposite of true. I mean, he was giving that answer because he didn’t want people to know exactly whether he approved it or not.”

Trump won’t take responsibility for failures, even military ones.

Watch Kander savage Trump over it below:

  15. When I taught music, I had a kid in my 7th grade choir that would talk non-stop. Once I stopped directing and stood in front of him and just watched him talk to the girl next to him. The entire choir watched this and eventually they all erupted into laughter. He heard the laughter and finally noticed me standing in front of him. He said "What?" I said you were talking again. He said no I wasn't. I said yes you were, I stood here and watched you and so did everyone else. He said no, he wasn't talking, he was just telling her....

The point was that he simply, honestly wasn't aware he was talking. He didn't recognize his behavior as talking. If he had been given a lie detector test he would have passed with flying colors.

Trump is exactly that way. I'm not saying he didn't do any of it. I'm saying that he doesn't recognize what he says as lies. He doesn't realize any of the stuff he is doing. When he says stuff, he honestly believes it.

He is mentally "insane" in that his reality doesn't exist, but he honestly believes the reality he has created.

There is a difference between a toddler that knows he's done wrong but will lie to avoid the consequences of his transgressions and a nutjob that simply can't grasp that he's done anything wrong but truly believes he is totally innocent.

Psychotic? Fine. Add that to narcissist and sociopath. What's one more mental disease?

The fault lies with the GOP who put him there and who refuse to do anything to remove this obvious danger to our security and peace in the world. Until and unless the GOP finally come to their senses and agree that NOTHING is worth Donald Trump in the White House, nothing will happen. They are the ones that are going to have to remove him through impeachment.
