Things we learned from Trump's interview with the Associated Press.

Trump did not realize that the decisions of a president involve life and death:

Number One, there's great responsibility. When it came time to, as an example, send out the 59 missiles, the Tomahawks in Syria. I'm saying to myself, "You know, this is more than just like, 79 (sic) missiles. This is death that's involved," because people could have been killed. This is risk that's involved, because if the missile goes off and goes in a city or goes in a civilian area — you know, the boats were hundreds of miles away — and if this missile goes off and lands in the middle of a town or a hamlet .... every decision is much harder than you'd normally make. (unintelligible) ... This is involving death and life and so many things. ... So it's far more responsibility.

He expected favorable press coverage:

I used to get great press. I get the worst press. I get such dishonest reporting with the media. That's another thing that really has — I've never had anything like it before. It happened during the primaries, and I said, you know, when I won, I said, "Well the one thing good is now I'll get good press." And it got worse. (unintelligible) So that was one thing that a little bit of a surprise to me. I thought the press would become better, and it actually, in my opinion, got more nasty.

Trump claims that he gets higher ratings than the bombing of the twin towers in 2001:

TRUMP: No I have, it's interesting, I have, seem to get very high ratings. I definitely. You know Chris Wallace had 9.2 million people, it's the highest in the history of the show. I have all the ratings for all those morning shows. When I go, they go double, triple. Chris Wallace, look back during the Army-Navy football game, I did his show that morning.

AP: I remember, right.

TRUMP: It had 9.2 million people. It's the highest they've ever had. On any, on air, (CBS "Face the Nation" host John) Dickerson had 5.2 million people. It's the highest for "Face the Nation" or as I call it, "Deface the Nation." It's the highest for "Deface the Nation" since the World Trade Center. Since the World Trade Center came down. It's a tremendous advantage.

Trump is obsessed with cable news, but wants everybody to think he never watches it:

TRUMP: OK. The one thing I've learned to do that I never thought I had the ability to do. I don't watch CNN anymore.

AP: You just said you did.

TRUMP: No. No, I, if I'm passing it, what did I just say (inaudible)?

AP: You just said —

TRUMP: Where? Where?

AP: Two minutes ago.

TRUMP: No, they treat me so badly. No, I just said that. No, I, what'd I say, I stopped watching them. But I don't watch CNN anymore. I don't watch MSNBC. I don't watch it. Now I heard yesterday that MSNBC, you know, they tell me what's going on.

AP: Right.

TRUMP: In fact, they also did. I never thought I had the ability to not watch. Like, people think I watch (MSNBC's) "Morning Joe." I don't watch "Morning Joe." I never thought I had the ability to, and who used to treat me great by the way, when I played the game. I never thought I had the ability to not watch what is unpleasant, if it's about me. Or pleasant. But when I see it's such false reporting and such bad reporting and false reporting that I've developed an ability that I never thought I had. I don't watch things that are unpleasant. I just don't watch them.

AP: And do you feel like that's, that's because of the office that you now occupy —

TRUMP: No.

AP: That you've made that change?

TRUMP: I don't know why it is, but I've developed that ability, and it's happened over the last, over the last year.

AP: That's interesting.

TRUMP: And I don't watch things that I know are going to be unpleasant. CNN has covered me unfairly and incorrectly and I don't watch them anymore. A lot of people don't watch them anymore, they're now in third place. But I've created something where people are watching ... but I don't watch CNN anymore. I don't watch MSNBC anymore. I don't watch things, and I never thought I had that ability. I always thought I'd watch.

This comes the day after the Washington Post reported on Trump's  obsession with cable news:

In the morning, the president typically flips between “Fox & Friends,” Maria Bartiromo’s show on Fox Business and CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” West Wing aides assert that the president stopped watching MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” after the show’s hosts grew increasingly critical of his presidency, but some confidants think he still tunes in, especially for the top of the program.

His feelings toward CNN and its president, Jeff Zucker, who greenlighted “The Apprentice” when he was running NBC Entertainment, are similarly fraught. Trump is furious with Zucker for what he thinks is the network’s unfair coverage but admires Zucker’s business bona fides and ratings growth, said a friend.

Most of the televisions in the West Wing display four channels at all times — CNN, Fox, Fox Business and MSNBC.

The president also likes One America News, a conservative-leaning channel whose correspondent often gets questions in Spicer’s daily news briefing, and before the campaign told an aide that he occasionally enjoyed watching Al Jazeera.

As most of you know I typically like to sprinkle comments throughout a post like this, however most of what I quote from the AP article left me stunned and speechless.

Even after years of covering Sarah Palin interviews, this one was almost too batshit crazy to believe.

The man literally bragged about getting television ratings second only to the most devastating terrorist attack in this country's history.

How does one respond to that?

Not necessarily dementia. This is what Narcissist Personality Disorder looks like. Unfortunately I have known two narcissists in my life, and one of the unsettling things about them was their ability to say one thing one minute and the complete opposite the next. They do not seem to have a concept of other people existing as independent human beings, capable of remembering stuff. The narcissists' focus is so exclusively on themselves that other people are not real to them.

I started to read the interview in the Wash. Post this morning. After about three question-and-answer (?) exchanges, I was totally lost. Trump is so incoherent and he sees everything only as it relates to him personally. And his obsession with ratings!

I simply cannot fathom the depths of hatred the GOP has for this country that they allowed this insane, blithering idiot to run for president and then colluded with Russia to put him in office! Someone needs to parse his responses much as Jeanne Devon used to parse Sarah Palin's books. I think that Trump is even more incoherent than Sarah. And that's saying a lot!

      Ask and ye shall receive?

The Washington Post sometimes does an "annotated" version of a story. Today they "annotated" his interview with AP. Here it is

      https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/04/24/trumps-bragging-boastful-ap-interview-annotated/?utm_term=.6fa45e86d9be&wpisrc=nl_most&wpmm=1

It think this is as close as we can get to what Jeanne Devon used to do.

Anon at 1:06 pm. I've just spent some time with the annotations alongside the AP interview. Kudos to the person who did the annotating. He must have been banging his head against the nearest wall by the time he was finished. A long interview like that with a vocabulary of barely over 80 words!

Senate Republican in charge of the Trump-Russia probe is ruthlessly obstructing his own investigation

Republican Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina is ostensibly leading the intelligence committee's investigation into Donald Trump's possible collusion with Russia, but he has thus far failed to subpoena any documents or witnesses or even bother to appoint any full-time staff, suggesting it is not an investigation he is taking seriously at all.

Americans don’t trust GOP on Russia: 73% want independent investigation of election tampering

Americans are overwhelmingly in favor of an independent commission to investigate how Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election. A new poll from NBC finds that 73 percent of respondents want an independent probe over the congressional investigations being led by Republicans in the House and Senate.

The poll shows a majority of Americans do not believe the Republican-controlled Congress is up to the task, with 61 percent saying they have “little to no confidence” in Congress conducting a fair and impartial investigation.

Trump is intentionally trying to manipulate what the American people see by telling those who meet with him to go on television and lie about how good the meeting was.
The Washington Post had a perfect example of how Trump is trying to use television to manipulate the American people:

' Either way, Trump’s viewing habits have seeped into the ether of both the White House and the nation’s capital. During the Republicans’ failed health-care push last month, Trump invited a small group of conservative activists to meet with him in the Oval Office. When the meeting was over, said someone with knowledge of the gathering, the president made a plea to the participants: “I know you have already said it’s a bad deal, but Kellyanne is going to walk you out to the microphones and I’d love it if you could say it’s great,” Trump said.'

Trump is trying to craft a perception of his entire presidency that is based on using television, and especially cable news to mislead. The vast majority of Americans get their news from television, so if Trump can put out enough false information and misleading perceptions, he believes that he can become a popular president.

The president’s obsession with cable news and his attempts to get people to lie to make him look good are part of the pattern of behavior that has experts warning about his mental health. The President Of The United States is encouraging people to lie to make him look good, which is dangerous behavior that seems destined to come back to haunt the nation.

President Donald Trump seems to be suffering from Wall Erecting Dysfunction.

It's common among men his age. When the moment's right, you plan for a big, beautiful wall, but sometimes … it just doesn't happen. Maybe you don't have the energy you once had, or you're unable to get the help you need from Mexico....

Which brings me to my next point: I'm feeling kind of sorry for President Trump.

He's embarrassed, and he clearly hasn't come to terms with his W.E.D. At this rate, all he'll have to build his wall with are broken promises, and those are permeable to Mexicans and unlikely to withstand the weather.

I wouldn't want our president to start acting even more erratically, so I think we should give him this one.

Not an actual wall, of course. That's a ridiculous concept that anyone with a nugget of sensibility knows is a mean-spirited waste of time and money.

What we need to give Trump is the belief that a big, beautiful wall exists along the border. That he built it, that it's magnificent and has a lovely door for "the good ones" to come through, and that Mexico paid for every penny of it, which, since it's imaginary, would be 100 percent true....

Getting the man to think there's a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border does not seem difficult. Take some border pictures, edit in a garish 30-foot-tall wall and start tweeting the images.

Tell him how impressed you are with his unnecessarily large wall. Say it's the best wall you've ever seen and that nobody else's wall is better.

Within a day he'll be on Twitter boasting about his wall prowess. And that will help ease his insecurities.

Hopefully before he has a chance to see the size of our nuclear missiles....

As far as I am concerned his only accomplishments in the first 100 days is to terrorize a nation with his stupidity and swindle the tax payers to enrich himself.

The AP released part of the interview last week, but made a fuller transcript available late Sunday. You can read it in full here, https://apnews.com/c810d7de280a47e88848b0ac74690c83 but beware: It’s a doozy. The phrase “Donald Trump is unintelligible” was even a top trending topic on Twitter early Monday ― referring to the 16 instances where the AP marked parts of the transcript “unintelligible.” (Pace later told the Toronto Star that one of Trump’s aides was talking over him at those moments, and that the aide did not want their comments included in the transcript. The Star notes that “this is itself highly unusual.”"

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-ap-interview_us_58fdb6fae4b06b9cb917f7ca?ncid=inblnkushpmg00000009

Trump is acting more and more bizarre. This AP interview is a blatant example of how unfit he is for office. Something needs to be done. The GOP and his minions need to acknowledge this and his mental deterioration is cause to remove him from office either figuratively or literally. Either way he cannot be allowed to continue making decisions of literally life and death for the people of this nation.

He is just nuts enough to order a nuclear strike on North Korea.

    1. Shunning reality, Trump said he’s “mostly there” on fulfilling the promises of his first 100 days.

    4. He admitted that when he bashed NATO during his presidential campaign, he didn’t actually know what the alliance did. He also erroneously said that “back when they did NATO there was no such thing as terrorism.”

    5. Describing a meeting with Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), Trump offered the following word salad: “Well he said, you’ll be the greatest president in the history of, but you know what, I’ll take that also, but that you could be. But he said, will be the greatest president but I would also accept the other. In other words, if you do your job, but I accept that. Then I watched him interviewed and it was like he never even was here. It’s incredible. I watched him interviewed a week later and it’s like he was never in my office. And you can even say that.”

[Even more incoherent than Sarah Palin. I never believed that possible.]

    6. He claimed the U.S.-Mexico border wall is “not going to be that expensive.”

    7. He abruptly interrupted himself to offer Pace a soda.

TRUMP: [Chinese] President Xi [Jinping], we have a, like, a really great relationship. For me to call him a currency manipulator and then say, “By the way, I’d like you to solve the North Korean problem,” doesn’t work. So you have to have a certain flexibility, Number One. Number Two, from the time I took office till now, you know, it’s a very exact thing. It’s not like generalities. Do you want a Coke or anything?

    AP: I’m OK, thank you.

Since when does an aide dictate an interview? Who was this aide?

Colbert had a field day with "unintelligible" last night. He questioned why the reporter didn't ask him to repeat what he said, guess we know why.

  30. If he's this bad NOW, he had dementia the entire time he was running.

    AND NO ONE DID ANYTHING.

They just let him run and take the oath and everything.

What the FUCK were they thinking? That they could hide it like with Reagan?

This nutjob needs to be removed from office. If by no other means, the Democrats need to demand and force in some way a mental evaluation of Snowflake J. Thinskin, Groper and Thief.

Why do you think Ivaaaahnka and Jared are in the White House - they are his keepers. And this was a great opportunity for Uday and Qusai to take over the business - bet he doesn't get it back.

    ANOTHER BROKEN PROMISE

We want our wall now and Mexico is paying for it

    Washington Post:
White House ‘confident’ of averting shutdown as Trump shows flexibility on wall

The White House sought Monday to calm a jittery Washington ahead of a showdown with Congress over spending, and President Trump softened his demand that a deal to keep the federal government open include money to begin construction on his long-promised border wall.

Despite one-party control at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue, the brinkmanship that came to define spending battles in the Obama years has tumbled into the Trump era, as have the factional divisions over strategy and priorities that have gripped the GOP for a decade.

But with a Friday deadline looming to pass a new spending bill, the Trump administration projected confidence that a shutdown would be avoided. In the face of fierce Democratic opposition to funding the wall’s construction, White House officials signaled Monday that the president may be open to an agreement that includes money for border security if not specifically for a wall, with an emphasis on technology and border agents rather than a structure.

Trump showed even more flexibility Monday afternoon, telling conservative journalists in a private meeting that he was open to delaying funding for wall construction until September, a White House official confirmed.

"So you think your ratings are second only to the other recent attack/tragedy to strike America? You consider your self a tragedy for or an attack on America?" Should have been the follow up question.

Wow this guy is seriously nuts. Its all about ratings to him and he like to rig the ratings just for his sick mental mind. The guy is shallow and pathetic, what a f&ck up lifestyle he has. Gee Whiz!! You can tell what he watches by his tweets. And yes he visits here. He is just like our sara scanning blogs for his enemies and targets. So worried what everyone thinks about them. Because they are evil mean and guilty. Both are dangerously mentally ill and mean.

The AP interview exposes how an aging malignant NPD brain functions. His brain is hard-wired to bullsh@t, lie, insult, qualify, and divert, which he did in the interview. However, it came out non-sensical due to loss of cognitive function.

Amendment 25, article 4 has never been more apt.
