Twitter sued Trump Administration for attempting to force it to unmask anti-government tweeter.

Courtesy of Variety:

Twitter has sued the Trump administration over attempts of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to unmask the identity of users behind an account critical of the government. The account in question, @ALT_USCIS, is one of several alt-government accounts which were launched after the new administration took office and proceeded to silence some official Twitter government accounts.

The lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of California, alleges that the DHS tried to use a “limited-purpose investigatory tool” to find out who is behind the account in question, which has been critical of the immigration policy of the current administration. “The rights of free speech afforded to Twitter’s users and Twitter itself under the U.S. Constitution include a right to disseminate such anonymous or pseudonymous free speech,” the lawsuit argues.

The lawsuit goes on to argue that many of these alt-government accounts, including @ALT_USCIS claim to be run by government workers, in this case employees of the U.S. Customs and Immigration Services. These users have taken to Twitter to voice their dissent with official government policies.

DHS summoned Twitter in March to unmask the user or users behind the account in question, but Twitter argued in its lawsuit that the means of this summons wouldn’t apply to this particular case. But the company went further than that, arguing that compliance with the summons would have a chilling effect on free speech, and effectively threaten other anonymous or pseudonymous Anti-Trump accounts.

So I guess unmasking is only bad if it is does to a Trump associate. Is that right?

By the way the Trump Administration has withdrawn its request now.

Yet another loss for Donald Trump, and another win for the Constitution.

Fuck Donald Trump! That Hitler 'likeness' is so very appropriate! I detest the evil man! He is such a loser.

Plus, he had zero business going into Syria! That move was NOT a good one on his part!

He tried to 'play war' and flunked miserably!

The Long, Lucrative Right-wing Grift Is Blowing Up in the World's Face

If you want to understand intra-GOP warfare, the decision-making process of our president, the implosion of the Republican healthcare plan, and the rest of the politics of the Trump era, you don’t need to know about Russian espionage tactics, the state of the white working class, or even the beliefs of the “alt-right.” You pretty much just need to be in semi-regular contact with a white, reasonably comfortable, male retiree. We are now ruled by men who think and act very much like that ordinary man you might know, and if you want to know why they believe so many strange and terrible things, you can basically blame the fact that a large and lucrative industry is dedicated to lying to them.

"Tea Party freakout. Congressional Republicans went from people who were able to turn their bullshit-hose on their constituents, in order to rile them up, to people who pointed it directly at themselves, mouths open."He is not one of the men, like most of those Tea Party members of Congress, whose existing worldview determined his media diet—who sealed himself off from disagreeable media sources. He is, in fact, something far more dangerous: a confused old man who believes what the TV tells him." because the right-wing media machine has no incentive to actually help Republicans govern—it thrives on conflict, not consensus" for the foreseeable future, the grifter-in-chief sits alone in the White House residence every night, watching cable news tell him comforting lies—that he’s a hugely popular president, that responsibility for his myriad setbacks and failures lies with the many powerful enemies aligned against him a grand conspiracy—in between the ads for reverse mortgages and “all-natural male enhancement.”

"he (drumpf)"now has the power to propagate his warped morality. This power was given to him by the evangelicals. The charitable path to take in critiquing the state of evangelical morality at the present time is to ascribe it to a lack of knowledge. They lack a knowledge of God; knowledge of what is required for Christians; knowledge of the value of maintaining godly integrity in a morally corrupt society, and just like elections have consequences, there are consequences for evangelicals’ lack of knowledge"Then this>"he appealed to their CORE values of character and morality. Fox News Privately Admits Trump Is A Sexual Predator After Defending Him On The Air

While defending Donald Trump on the air, Fox News has been privately using the Trump Access Hollywood tape to train their own employees about sexual harassment.

...Fox News publicly defends Trump’s sexual harassment while privately telling their own employees that his behavior was wrong and should be reported. The hypocrisy is stunning, and proof of why nothing that Fox says on the air should ever be trusted. The network doesn’t believe what it is selling to its viewers. Fox News revealed that everything that they broadcast is some form of propaganda.

The use Trump’s behavior as an example of sexual harassment privately, while defending it publicly shows what Fox News really is. Fox isn’t a news organization. The network values money and ratings, and if pumping out content that even they don’t believe is true keeps them on top of the ratings and makes them money, that is what they are going to do.

Even though they will never admit it on the air, even Fox News knows that Donald Trump is a sexual predator.

Devin Nunes’ decision to step back from the House Russia investigation is the latest in a series of setbacks for the president.

Don’t let Syria fool you: Donald Trump is having his worst week ever

While no one was paying attention, everything went wrong for Trump

Hey cable news, I’m going to stop you right here, because I’ve heard this one before. Donald Trump finally did something that wasn’t immediately recognizable as being a catastrophically embarrassing failure, therefore he’s “presidential” now and he’s probably going to be fine. That’s the narrative around his Syria attack. It was also the narrative around his State of the Union address, which in hindsight did nothing to stop his ongoing collapse. And once you look past Syria, this week was a disaster for Trump.

It got lost in the Syria headlines, but Donald Trump lost one and maybe two of the key pillars this week in a strategy that he’d been putting in place since November to protect himself against his Russia scandal. As I wrote awhile back, he had a four point plan in that regard (link). One of those pillars was Devin Nunes. He’d been in freefall for awhile. But he collapsed entirely the other day when he removed himself from his own House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Trump and Russia. He was there to run interference for Trump, and now he’s gone.

In fact the only pillar in his Russia defense strategy that was still fully intact coming into this week was his seeming ally Dana Boente at the Department of Justice. But something has shifted with that as well, and suddenly Trump is changing the DOJ order of succession yet again, under the presumption that he’ll need to work around Boente (link). It’s not clear there’s anyone left in place who’s willing and able to actively protect him on Russia.

Then there’s the Steve Bannon debacle...

Russia claims Trump’s Syria attack took out six already-broken planes and a cafeteria

The Russian Ministry of Defense has released an official statement in response to Donald Trump’s missile attack on air base in Syria. While this has to be qualified as Kremlin propaganda, it does offer insight into how Vladimir Putin wants the attack to be viewed by the world. The verdict, according to Ministry of Defense spokesman Igor Konashenkov, reads in almost hilarious fashion.

Moscow still interfered in our election to assist Trump and his campaign is still under FBI investigation for it. Syria doesn't change that.

Putin gave POTUS the ok to bomb Syria. He had to ask for his permission. Let that sink in. Our President asking Russia for permission!

The bombing in Syria accomplished nothing militarily & that was by design. We coordinated with Russia on the targets. All for show.

Bannon is minutes from resigning. He was absolutely apoplectic about the decision to bomb Syria.

Republicans love war and the goddamn media (MSNBC and CNN) are non stop in reporting war, war, war! The majority of their journalists are too young to even know, understand or have a clue as to the ramifications of war! Fucking amazing!

The USA cannot afford more war, we always are at war with Republican POTUSs and Trump loves nothing but chaos and upheaval. Someone needs to get rid of the asshole before American goes down!

We do not need, or are required, to be in Syria or promoting our (supposed) allies to bomb there too!

IMPEACH Trump! He's Hitler II, a dictator, liar and fraud.
