Al Franken has en entire chapter in his new book dedicated to Ted Cruz, and it is certainly not to praise him.

Courtesy of Salon:

Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., has made it quite clear that he is not a fan of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. In fact, in Sen. Franken’s upcoming book, the former comedian devoted an entire chapter to his distaste for the Texas senator, according USA Today.

In Franken’s upcoming book, titled “Al Franken: Giant of the Senate,” and set to be released May 30, Franken details his experience becoming a comedian-turned-senator, as well as how he feels about his colleagues in Washington. The chapter about Cruz is called “Sophistry,” an SAT word that means to use fallacious arguments, typically with the intention to deceive. In an interview with USA Today, Franken describes Cruz as “singularly dishonest” and “exceptionally smarmy.”

“You have to understand that I like Ted Cruz probably more than my colleagues like Ted Cruz,” Franken said. “And I hate Ted Cruz.”

God that's a great line!

Now as you may know it is a breach of decorum to insult a fellow senator, however Franken feels justified in making an exception when it comes to Cruz.

But despite calling out Cruz, Franken said his book did not include as much gossip as one might assume.

“I have to say, he’s an exception to my rule, which is you basically have a rule that if you have a conversation with somebody and it makes them look bad — it’s a private conversation — you don’t repeat it,” Franken said. “But I made an exception with him because he broke that rule, he broke the protocol of the Senate. It wasn’t quite that rule, but he got up to speak and called Mitch McConnell a liar. And that was completely against protocol. So I make him an exception. So I don’t say bad stuff about my other colleagues.”

Seems fair.

Well I know which book just made it to the top of my must read list.

By the way for those of you hoping that Franken will run for President in 2020, he has a simple response:

“Yeah, I’m not going to do that.”

Oh well, perhaps he would be up for a VP slot?

First of all, I happen to know Al and Frannie, I highly doubt they would even consider the closed off life of being in the WH. The best route to getting Cruz out of the Senate is to donate to Beto ( Robert) O'Rourke. A current rep from Texas that will be running for Cruz's senate seat in 2018. Beto is running a grassroots campaign that is depending on small donors. He is spending his time driving around the state visiting multiple communities, not just the large cities. Beto is a progressive politician who is not only gaining support but is a Native Texan who has now gained name recognition statewide. Young, vibrant, willing to meet and talk to anyone about his stances on everything. If you've got 5, 10, 20 bucks it would make a world of difference.

    1. And we'll need to support Beto as much as we can because the Democratic party won't.

I can dream of a Warren-Franken ticket. Weird as it sounds.

    3. Warren isn't going to run and would be a bit too old in 2020.

I'd like to see Franken-Harris but that isn't going to happen either.

I love Al Franken. He's very intelligent; he's not afraid to ask the important questions and he's not afraid to speak the truth. Franken says he's speaking for Minnesotans but he's really speaking for all Americans. He is the kind of honest person who "tells it like it is."

During the 2004 campaign he had a late-night program on the Sundance cable channel (this was back when the channel was good) which I watched every night. He had tears in his eyes when he had to call the election for Bush on his hand-drawn map of the United States; I was teary eyed too.

Unfortunately, Cruz is my senator and I blame Palin for getting him elected. This state is so damn stupid! I ordered Franken's book. I wish Franken were my senator and I would love to get the heck out of Texas, but financially and leaving my kids behind holds me back. I wish Democrats would have a better chance here in this stupid state with the world's worst governor and senator. Ugh. Al Franken is my kind of politician, HONEST! Hard to find any honest ones among the GOP.
