Donald Trump tells advisers he wants to end key Obamacare subsidies because he doesn't gain anything by continuing them.

Courtesy of Politico:

President Donald Trump has told advisers he wants to end payments of key Obamacare subsidies, a move that could send the health law's insurance markets into a tailspin, according to several sources familiar with the conversations.

Trump told aides in a Tuesday Oval Office meeting that he wants to end the payments to insurers because he doesn't gain anything by continuing them, according to a senior White House adviser. "Why the hell would we?" he asked about continuing the payments, according to the adviser. Trump added that if Congress wants the subsidies, lawmakers would find a way to pay for them, the adviser said.

He has a point.

After all what does a billionaire, with the kind of health care that only presidents and the very wealthy can receive, gain from supporting the paying of subsidies to help less fortunate people stay healthy?

Kind of like why worry about global warming, when you live in buildings with best the climate control available?

Or why worry about causing a third world war when you yourself are protected by highly trained security 24/7?

After all Donald Trump did not become president to help people.

Donald Trump became president to feed his ego.

There are no more adjectives in my vocabulary to adequately describe this presidency.

The last time I looked in my online thesaurus it said, "Sorry, we've run out of words to use when referring to Donald Trump."

This action by Trump WILL finally get the attention of those that voted for him and what a rude awakening they are going to experience!

Talk about 'learning the hard way'!

Trump so needs to be IMPEACHED! He is nothing more than a horrible/evil man that is NOT a Christian - he does not practice being one!

Trump and Republicans blaming President Obama is falling on deaf ears now....the Americans that voted for Trump are learning what an ass they cast their vote for and are already regretting it.

President Obama will go down as one of the best POTUS America has ever had - especially when compared to Trump!!!

I will be one of the ones affected by this. Not happy at all, but I think this would cause such a huge mess, that it will forever taint ALL republicans. A silver lining in an otherwise grim reality.

Until they are all hit squarely where it hurts, republican votes won't change if even then. They believe every last thing said to them when a little research would go a long way toward the truth.

The news of this meeting, and what Trump said -verbatim - needs to be spread far and wide as fast as possible, and a drumbeat about it kept banging away (I don't care if they attempt to blame Obama or Dem's or whoever for it...). November 2018 is going to be here before we know it, and we need to keep Trump and the (R)'s linked at the hip on healthcare reform (their sh*tty version of it, and Trump's motive for it); HE is the GOP and THEY are TRUMP. LET THEM ALL SINK TOGETHER.

Those subsidies are meant to be part of the big rich-people tax break that Trump is planning. Oh, those Trump voters who let themselves be fooled years ago by the Koch brothers' Tea Party GOP and who are now being kicked in the face by their new president. They seemed to think that the wealth of the 1% would come showering onto them if only they kept voting for GOP candidates. What fools people who only watch Fox News are! What pathetic fools!

I was in my 20s when "Saint Reagan" sold his trickle down economics bill of goods. I told my husband how incredibly stupid people were to fall for that crap....yeah right, they're willingly going to part with $$ when greed runs slipshod over everything. Fools indeed, Beaglemom!

He stated that he gets nothing from continuing the subsidies.

Is he referring to using a subsidy for his own insurance or getting “gifts” from the insurance companies?

Either way he is breaking the oath he took as president.

Yep little donnie, you will find out what you are not getting, when your supporters who need the subsidy die off and can’t vote for you in 2020. (Not that I believe he will be in office long enough to run)

A president's job isn't necessarily to help people. It is however to see that they have a fair shot at not needing help, to see that citizens can be productive, etc. And this so can the country. While the ReTHUGS have derisively call progressive policies "bleeding heart liberalism" many of those policies (education, healthcare, etc) were put in place by captains of I dustry who saw that you couldn't have a productive workforce if you didn't allow citizens to thrive, be happy, be healthy, get an education to the utmost of their ability, etc. Hell, the educated electorate dates back to Jefferson and Jeffersonian agrarianism.

    T.Rump is an idiot.

I wouldn't want to be the person to tell the Donald that he doesn't get to keep those presents he's receiving on this trip.
