Fox News actually asked Dakota Meyer for his advice in responding to the terrorist bomb attack in Manchester.

Courtesy of the Washington Examiner:

The 28-year-old veteran said it was only a matter of time until a concert terror attack — like the one that killed 22 in Manchester, England, on Monday — hits American shores.

“I’ve been saying this is going to happen for a long time,” Sgt. Meyersaid. “When is it coming here? I think the only way you get this point across is when you release the gates of hell on them and we start making war so ugly that […] it’s not cool to join ISIS anymore. […] You can guarantee [Mr. Trump is] going to do whatever it’s going to take, no matter if it’s the most popular thing in the court of public opinion. He’s going to do what’s right to protect America.”

When I first read that Meyer wanted to "release the gates of hell" I thought perhaps he meant to send the Palin family over there and tell them it was a birthday party with free booze.

Because you know THAT can get really ugly.

But then I realized that he was suggesting the idea of sending more American troops overseas, to murder more Muslims, and give the terrorists even more justification for what they are doing.

Just a reminder that the terrorists are not attacking the West because they are jealous of our freedoms, they are attacking the West because they are angry that we have been killing their people for decades.

And under the Trump Administration the civilian death count has dramatically increased.

So I guess Meyer is right about one thing, yes they are most certainly coming here.

So it appears that Duhkota is planning a run for Congress form Texas. I cannot think of another reason why he is continuing to spend time giving asinine comments on Fox.

Dakota is painful to watch and to listen to, his appeal is to the 'undereducated, his favorite demographic (h/t Donald J. Trump 2016).

Maybe Dakota will enroll in somebody's 'university' and learn to speak a bit better, it won't change his viewpoint but maybe he won't sound so unintelligible? Poor thing is so abysmally ignorant and poorly educated.

Or maybe he will be elected president in 2050? Or, president of the Texas Republic?

Lord have mercy on us all.

    3. Yep, he's stupid. He doesn't understand that the military's primary goal is to achieve the mission through following orders. Probably why he EAS'd out. (End of active service. He is not "retired," medically or otherwise. It was his choice. He lacked the discipline to follow through.)

Most combat veterans have acquitted themselves bravely in circumstances equal to, or worse than, those described in Dakota's questionable MOH narrative. They just weren't written up for it. Many heroes specifically decline such recognition. They are legion.

Has Meyer been diagnosed with PTSD? He would be given a temporary VA disability rating and then treated. The treatments for PTSD are excellent and effective. But the individual has to be motivated.

Regardless, PTSD is rated a temporary condition. Crybaby needs to get over it after all these years.

Maybe he's too dumb even to be acceptable as cannon fodder. Or he's chicken-shit. Or he buys the Palin line of bunk about money for nothing. I put my money on all three circumstances.

He's only 28? He looks at least 15 years older.

Pardon me for my lack of sympathy, or don't. My husband was a career infantry officer, an Army Airborne Ranger in III Corps Tactical Zone in Vietnam. After a difficult but rewarding career of challenges, he retired in 1989 after 20+ years. After that he worked in upper management in state government. In 1998 he began having strokes due to irreversible genetic damage caused by his exposure to Agent Orange. By 2005 he was VA-rated totally and permanently disabled, with service connection. Former member of Mensa and Intertel who doesn't know how to make a sandwich or find a number in the phone book. Black belt in tae kwon do who can't walk without a Rollator or get dressed without help. The same genetic damage which eventually ruined his health also caused fatal birth defects in our second child.

War is hell. Do not doubt that for a second. Search images of the fire-bombing of Dresden if you need a wake-up call. The Brits, our allies, did that to German civilians. They horribly killed more people than the atomic bombing of Nagasaki or Hiroshima, for absolutely no reason. War is not a remote horror you see depicted on TV. It impacts the innocent as well as the guilty, and it could land on our doorstep, since we elected a narcissistic lunatic--psychopath, imbecile, halfwit, moron, idiot, demon--as our leader.

My husband never complains about his suffering. I do, bitterly. But he never complains. His strength continues to amaze me. He doesn't regret his long military service, although it was difficult to endure through the years. I've never understood his fortitude and endurance, but I've always been in awe of it.

The military's backbone is composed of men and women who do their jobs day in and day out, without recognition. When you join the military, they own you. It's a concept hard for most of us to grasp. I could never do it. That's why we tell them "Thank you for your service." It's harder than we realize, unless we've done it.

The most exceptional people are strengthened by suffering--think of Tammy Duckworth, Bobby Henline, or Google American Legion or DAV leaders.

The military is well rid of Dakota Meyer, who is dull normal IQ at best. He's more trouble than he's worth. The Palins are welcome to him.

Happy trails, Bristol. You should have stuck with Levi.

Good post, Jude. But, you left out the part where USAAF was involved in the bombing of Dresden, and in fact went back to bomb them a couple more times after the Brits were done. You make it sound as if Britain did that all by themselves without the help of the good ole US of A.

I assume this is all part of the brain washing that military families must undergo in order to feel better about taking lives because some rich crazy ass wipe told them to.

2:14 PM, the US and Britain were allies in WWII, so yes, the US Army Air Force did their part in incinerating and asphyxiating women, children, the elderly, and other noncombatants in beautiful Dresden on the Elbe. There was no reason to do so, but it's what the RAF wanted, so other Allies joined it.

    ANOTHER LOSS FOR TRUMP

Appeals court upholds block on Trump's travel ban

By Ariane de Vogue and Laura Jarrett, CNN

(CNN) A federal appeals court upheld Thursday a ruling blocking President Donald Trump's travel ban against six Muslim-majority countries.

The 10-3 ruling from the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals upholds a lower court's decision to halt core portions of the executive order indefinitely.

    1. Meyer did not achieve anything near the rank of sergeant major, which is E-9. That takes dedication, hard work, the passing of tests, and years of time in grade--all way beyond Meyer's accomplishments.

He was just a corporal, promoted to sergeant after award of the MOH, E4 or E5, I'm not sure. But far, far from an E9, which is the highest enlisted rank. And he EAS'd out by choice. Military life was too hard for him.

And yes, officers, whose ranks begin with O, not E for enlisted, have to have college degrees, because they're the executives. The lowest officer rank is superior to the highest enlisted rank.

It's universal military tradition to get a promotion on retirement. I don't know how it started but it always struck me as a pension -related because I've only ever known career officers.

So Dakota Meyer wouldn't need to display any brains or leadership skills to be promoted to sergeant, all he needed to do was quit.

He EAS'd out. End of active service. His choice. This is a matter of record, and I get tired of reading that he retired. He did not earn retirement. That takes 20 years. Nor was he "medically retired" as I've read on some blogs. I challenge anyone to name his permanently and totally disabling service-connected condition. (Look up the VA definition of permanent and total disability first.)

He was a corporal, promoted to sergeant E4 or E5 after award of the MOH.

He fits right in with Sean Hannity, Steve Doocey, and the other sock puppets on Fox, except that he lacks their professional grooming and polish. Der Spiegel and the Süddeutsche Zeitung (links in German), each citing sources who were at the meeting, reported Trump calling the Germans “bad, very bad” for their running a trade surplus with the US. “Look at the millions of cars they’re selling in the US. Terrible. We will stop this,” he toldEuropean Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council president Donald Tusk, according to Der Spiegel. In an interview in January, Trump had told German newspaper Bild that he would slap a 35% import tax on BMWs assembled in Mexico, with an eye to getting manufacturers to set up shop in the US.
