Alexandria shooter acted alone, no "nexus of terrorism" found.

Courtesy of Salon:

The FBI announced on Wednesday that James T. Hodgkinson — the gunman who shot Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., during a Congressional baseball practice — acted alone.

“We also assessed that there was no nexus to terrorism,” Andrew Vale, assistant director of the FBI in Washington said.

Hodgkinson, 66, was known to have an anger management problem as well and his wife has cooperated with the investigation.

Hodgkinson was from Illinois and opened fire on Republican members of Congress last week and was shot and killed by police as they responded to the incident. The investigation is still ongoing and CNN reported that authorities found a list created by Hodgkinson with names of six members of Congress, though their names and parties were not released. Scalise who is the House Majority Whip was the only member of Congress injured during the attack.

In other words this guy was not part of some secret Leftist terrorist cell that was targeting Donald Trump or the Republicans, as has some on the Right have been suggesting.

Look I am not saying that there are not nutjobs on the Left, or even that some of the partisan talk out there did not play a part in getting this guy all worked up enough to open fire.

However I would like to mention that there are really VERY few acts of actual violence coming from the progressive community, and no I don't consider those Antifa assholes to be part of the progressive community.

As a rule those of us on the progressive side of the aisle tend to make our statements through pithy, correctly spelled protest signs, boycotts against Right Wing misogynists, and of course our votes.

ANY violence directed at even the worst example of a Republican politician, or GOP mouthpiece, is to be rejected out of hand.

Yes of course I would like to slap the orange off of Donald Trump, I am after all only human.

But I would never actually do it, nor do I, in any way, advocate such behavior.

"But I would never actually do it, nor do I, in any way, advocate such behavior." Well stated, Gryphen. We don't as a group condone violence and we are quick to condemn it by anyone merely claiming association with us.

Has Dolt45 commented yet on the terrorists who attacked innocent Muslims during Ramadan?

One of the most striking differences between Republicans and Democrats that I noticed during the campaign was the reaction to violence.

At Republican campaign events, protesters and journalists (and sometimes innocent bystanders) were threatened, forcibly removed (with unnecessary roughness in the process) and beaten. Those actions were cheered by the crowds and encouraged by the candidate. Anyone who was on the receiving end of the violence must have 'deserved it' or 'started it' and the perpetrators were excused.

On the other hand, the rare incidences of violence from the left were denounced by Democratic voters and by the candidate.

It's very much like the way the two groups react to crimes committed by members of their own parties. Republicans blame others and make excuses while Democrats call for justice and punishment when appropriate.

There are just so many angry people. And, yes, I do blame Fox. And there are just so many pharmaceutically dependant people. And, yes, I do blame pharmaceutical companies.

Corporations/politicians are destroying the middle class and when there is no middle class, revolution/civil war follows.

We are so susceptible to repetitive messages and we invite them into our lives via television and/or social media and they make us hateful and stupid.

Lester Maddox, former Ga governor, said the problem with Georgia's prisons was that we needed a better class of prisoners.

Well, I'm here to say we need a better class of citizens.

Everything's not a nail, but it seems that all we have now is way too many hammers.

And it's past time to excite/fund education and curiosity in this nation to affect positive change in this world. And it has to be all inclusive. I don't care what your nationality, color, sexuality or religion is. That's just genetic or cultural. And none of us can change that.

    I'm glad I'm 62 and childless.

YUP. Needs better conflict resolution skills.
Almost NO conflict needs to be resolved with a gun.

I had the same visceral reaction to the Cheeto-faced Twatwaffle's election, and hate the sight and sound of him on TV, to the point that I'll turn the channel even if it's Rachel Maddow, but I didn't take an assault rifle to do damage to the opposition.

There is no excuse for violence, and there's no excuse for the hateful speech against liberals that is being heaped upon us now. Shame on the GOP and those that refuse to work for the betterment of our country.

Sorry to disagree Gryph, but I would personally like to "knock the crap" out of the Orange Cheeto and yes, I do personally advocate that.
What is good enough for that fat fuck is good enough for me.
      Think about it.
