Sources suggest that Trump might fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Go ahead pretend you're surprised by this.

Courtesy of Vox:

A friend of President Donald Trump says that Trump is “considering perhaps terminating” special counsel Robert Mueller — an action that, if carried out, would mean a crisis over the rule of law in the United States.

The friend — Christopher Ruddy, founder of the conservative website Newsmax — told Judy Woodruff of PBS NewsHour that the president is considering firing Mueller, who is overseeing the Russia investigation. “I personally think it would be a very significant mistake.”

Ruddy is a longtime friend of Trump and has reportedly been in touch with the president and his close aides at various points this year.

When asked about this White House spokesman Sean Spicer responded with this:
You will notice that Spicey did not bother to deny that Trump was thinking of firing Mueller.

However that statement irritated Trump's buddy Ruddy, who responded with this:

Ruddy, the CEO of conservative news organization NewsMax, said Spicer’s statement doesn’t deny his claim and attempts to undermine him. “Spicer issued a bizarre late night press release that a) doesn’t deny my claim the President is considering firing Mueller and b) says I didn’t speak to the President about the matter — when I never claimed to have done so,” Ruddy told Politico.

“Memo to Sean: focus your efforts on exposing the flim-flam Russian allegations against POTUS and highlighting his remarkable achievements! Don’t waste time trying to undermine one of your few allies.”

And with that I think we have officially found ourselves in the reality television version of the presidency.

All that is left is for a drunken Melania to turn over a table in the White House banquet room and accuse one of the dinner guests of making goo goo eyes at her man, and for a cat fight to break out between Stephen Bannon and Reince Priebus.

Personally I hope that Trump does fire Mueller, because after that there will be NO question that Trump is working to obstruct his Russia investigation.

Besides as Congressman Adam Schiff says, it would just be a waste of time.

  1. Schiff has big talk as castrated Democrats. He and his party can't do anything other than lament and protest. If the Republicans take umbrage, THEY can appoint Mueller or whatever to keep investigation king. Or eat it go as they have been letting their monster go. If totheir advantage to ignore they will do so and nothing the Dems can do about it Make no other picture about this. Democrats are powerless

As much as I hate to admit it, 7:00AM, RY is correct. Unless a fair number of repubes side with the Democrats, nothing will be done to nominate another Special Counsel.

    3. I'm not so sure. If Trump went that far, some Republicans would back Schiff. The public would be outraged and their re-elections would be in danger being tied to Trump.

Yep. At some point, and we are quickly coming to that tipping point, even the ReTHUGs can't back The Rump. The moderates are there already. The still sane conservatives are almost there. Before you know it all he has is Cruz and Country? what country? Party-first McConnell.

Some of you really do give to much credit to so called moderate republicans. They will never put the constituents before the party. These so called moderates have been given excellent moments to stand up and protest/act on the destruction the party is going to engulf this country in. They have no moral compass and the only common good republicans agree with is the stuff which applies too extremely wealthy white republicans. We need to start preparing for the destruction of the American health care insurance system. They will do this soon if we do not act. This is just the start of the terrible things they want to do to people.

After all Comey and Mueller worked together and Comey called him BOB Mueller during his testimony, so they must be in cahoots against little donnie :)

Go on donnie "I am not a Liar" trump, the American public dares you to fire him.

Of course he will fire Mueller !!!! There will be no repurcussions - they do not have the votes in congress to appoint a special council - only 2 republicans have said they would cooperate with the democrats and that is not enough - it was just on the news last night (but buried with all the talking heads) - I think it was in the interview with a Democratic Congressman on All In With Chris Hayes.

This Russian take over of our government has been in the works for YEARS !!! And Snowden has handed the keys to every lock and every secret - there are so many embedded moles and those who have been compromised (either fearful of blackmail or blinded by greed) we will never find them all - but there are definitely enough that trump and the rest of them will never face any consequences.

Time to face reality and dig deep for protecting our country the best we can because this will be a very very very long descendant into madness and choas

Congress cannot appoint a special counsel only the DOJ can. They can only appoint an independent counsel.

I think they will because after only 5 months of little donnie the public is sick of him and the republicans aren't getting anything done.

Seems to me, the fact that trump does not consider the russian hacking our elections serious, should be enough to impeach him. I thought the president is suppose to protect and defend our Constitution from foreign enemies.

Whether he directly helped them or not, the fact that he doesn’t want it investigated is damning enough.

I am glad I get to see another day, but worried sick about our future. I see 45 turning into a dicktator (sic) that is not being curtailed at all. Soon it will be too late.
GOP Congress is enabling this process, and not doing anything to help stop this monstrosity. On the contrary - they are doing their darndest to accelerate the progress, because they know, if they help to stop him, they will lose next year, and they will NOT lose - they will stay in power by ANY MEANS!

Trump Melts Down And Demands A Personal Apology From The Media For “Fake News”

Instead of even pretending that he is trying to run the country, Trump tantrums on social media and is demanding a personal apology for what he calls “fake news,” as the President’s mental meltdown accelerates.

...It is important to note that the President’s standard for fake news isn’t based on facts and accuracy. Trump calls any story that is not flattering or bad for him fake news.

The media doesn’t serve the president. The free press does not exist to boost Trump’s spirits and write positive stories about him. Donald Trump and his White House are the biggest sources of “fake news” in the United States. No statement that this president or White House makes can be taken at face value. The Trump administration lies in public to the American people daily.

What we are witnessing is a president who is suffering an emotional collapse because he has lived in a self-created fantasy wrapped around his own PR for most of his adult life. Donald Trump is rejecting reality, and the result is a presidential meltdown 140 characters at a time.

Republican Senate leadership, read Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, has prohibited reporters from filming interviews in the hallway, and now requires prior permission from the Senate Rules Committee and prior permission from the Senator for all interviews. In other words, reporters can no longer interview Republican Senators as the GOP drafts their health care bill in secret.…

"Trump has often said over the year to reporters, “I just want to let you know I’m taping you right now,’” O’Brien, formerly of HuffPost and now executive editor at Bloomberg View, said Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources.” He also “said it multiple times during my interviews with him.”

When Trump finally admitted there were no tapes, O’Brien said his attorney asked him why he had lied. “He essentially said: ‘I wanted to intimidate him,’” O’Brien recalled.

“His loose association or relationship with the truth becomes problematic for him when he’s confronted with documents that are contrary to things that he’s said ... on a wide range of issues,” O’Brien said. The deposition revealed Trump had misrepresented how much money he got for speaking fees, how briskly his condos were selling, how much money he borrowed from the family estate when he was in financial trouble, and several other points, said O’Brien."

Trump is on record as a habitual liar and he has specifically lied about having tapes and admitted it was to intimidate.

"The lawyers confronted the mogul with his past statements — and with his company’s internal documents, which often showed those statements had been incorrect or invented. The lawyers were relentless. Trump, the bigger-than-life mogul, was vulnerable — cornered, out-prepared and under oath.

    Thirty times, they caught him.

Trump had misstated sales at his condo buildings. Inflated the price of membership at one of his golf clubs. Overstated the depth of his past debts and the number of his employees."

"In the book, O’Brien cited people who questioned a claim at the bedrock of Trump’s identity — that his net worth was more than $5 billion. O’Brien said he had spoken to three people who estimated that the figure was between $150 million and $250 million."

"In 2009, a judge dismissed Trump’s case against O’Brien. Trump appealed, but in 2011 that was denied, too.

Along the way, this once-confidential deposition became part of the public record when O’Brien’s attorneys attached it to one of their motions.

In a brief statement this week, Trump said he felt the lawsuit was a success, despite his loss."

Where have we heard that? Possibly Trump's attorney claiming that Comey's testimoney exhonerated Trump?

Gee, I wonder if he was the same attorney that lost the case against O'Brien?

"As for Trump saying last week that he is “100 percent” willing to testify under oath to Special Counsel Robert Mueller about his conversations with Comey, O’Brien said, “I have to imagine every lawyer in the White House’s eyes rolled back in their skull.”"

While the Republicans in Congress have long supported party over country, their very top priority is their own careers.

Trump's approval ratings are dropping like a stone and they are now worried that aligning themselves with him will hurt them in the next election.

They are likely also worried that his rapid approach to dictatorship, if left unchecked, could ultimately render them powerless. They may not give a damn about 99% of the people in this country, but they DO care deeply about the power and fortune their positions entitle them to.

I suspect (and hope!) that there will be a point where Trump finally goes too far and threatens the security of their cushy little jobs enough that they will take action. His recent actions have the stench of tyrant about them and the American people don't like tyrants. Those Republicans in Congress who fail to rein him in may soon find themselves out of jobs.
