Vice President Mike Pence reminds us why we may not be in such a hurry to impeach Donald Trump.

Courtesy of Vox:

Vice President Mike Pence popped into the 40th anniversary celebration of the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family to remind members he’s a devout Christian politician who has his back. And, he says, so is President Donald Trump.

After the group’s president Jim Daly introduced Pence as “one of us,” the vice president spoke for 30 minutes on Friday, on both foreign policy and domestic issues. Unsurprisingly, Pence focused quite a bit on abortion, reiterating the Trump administration’s commitment to what he characterized as the "timeless values” Focus on the Family advocates first.

He repeatedly referred to the president himself as both an “unwavering ally" of Christian evangelicals and a believer himself — calling him “a leader, a believer, a timeless defender of the values that will make America great again.” He described Trump as someone who “advocated in the public square for values our public needs to hear, now more than ever.”

Pence’s comments are hardly surprising: after all, his evangelical faith and religiously-motivated stances on abortion and LGBTQ rights are well-known. But the intensity in expressing them on Friday was striking. Pence announced that he would donate an ultrasound machine in his own name to a faith-based crisis pregnancy center. (These centers, which are marketed like typical abortion clinics, but are set up to persuade women to avoid abortions, make up a major part of Focus on the Family’s efforts).

By the way Pence's assertion that Trump is an "unwavering ally of Christian Evangelicals" is the very definition of fake news.

Donald Trump is the unwavering ally of Donald Trump, and ONLY Donald Trump.

Mike Pence on the other hand is a tent revival attending, evangelizing, self proclaimed warrior for the almighty, and he would love nothing more than to return this country back to the days when women stayed in the kitchen, black folks stayed in the fields, and gay people stayed so deep in their closets that they needed to stuff mothballs down their pants.

I mean the man donated an entire ultrasound machine just to stop women from aborting their babies for fuck's sake.

That is why Senator Al Franken suggested that folks might want to think long and hard about trying to get Trump impeached.

Courtesy of the International Business Times:

“Pence ran the transition and some of the very worst nominees, I felt — [EPA chief Scott] Pruitt, [Education Secretary Betsy] DeVos, [HHS Secretary Tom] Price, [Budget director Mick] Mulvaney — were Pence selections, clearly, I think,” Franken told IBT. “He's ideological, I consider him a zealot, and I think that in terms of a lot of domestic policy certainly would be worse than Trump.”

Look I still think that Trump is a criminal, who had help in stealing this election, and I want him to either quit or be impeached.

But if we don't come up with some way to take Pence down with him, I fear that we may well go from the frying pan directly into that fire and brimstone.

Pence is a radical xtian extremist. A Dominionist. He sees the goal post for a xtain theocracy just ahead. Too many in the congress are the same.

Allow the DEATH bill to pass and they will ALL go down, but not as quickly as we'd like.

But if Pence goes down too, then we've got President Paul Ryan. I'd rather keep the dumpster fire, personally.

There are always heart attacks, strokes or cancer....which could stop either of their reigns! Sounds hateful, I know! But, I have zero positive or caring thoughts as to either of them.

Those are some good thought. Pence is just as problematic as Trump. I'm hopeful that Mueller's investigation brings them both down. If Trump isn't removed and is reelected in 2020, I'm moving to Germany or France.

It's difficult enough bringing The Donald down, so how in the heck would we take Pence down w/him? Both are horrible for our country - that is very clear.

I just don't believe The Donald to be a believer or a Christian! He has never acted like one his entire life.

I suggest that all review the 'facts' about how he's lived his crappy life!

If we take Pence down with trump, who's next in the line of succession: 1) Paul Ryan; 2) Orrin Hatch; 3) Rex Tillerson. Are any of these any better than Pence? I think our best bet is to take over the house in 2018. This will at least stop some of the worst abuses. Even better is to take over the senate to stop the right-wing takeover of the judiciary. We are in for a very difficult 18 months. If the democrats don't take over either the house or senate, we are truly fucked.

The Republican mass of white men in D.C. is GD frightening. Damn, but they are all sick creatures and in no way represent me. Check the facts on each one of them named above - 9:04 a.m.

They are literally a bunch of jerks and very unchristian in the way they think and 'rule' those that elected them to their governmental offices.

Pay attention Americans and vote them out of office when they next come up for reelection in their particular states. It's imperative they be stopped from serving!

Pence nearly bankrupted Indiana and there has been more pay outs for his asininity since he left there. He would never have been re-elected in Indiana, but he sits in DC - WTF?

Nothing Pence believes in would pass muster. All of it is too blatantly unconstitutional. Meanwhile, I don't think he would be trying to start war with every country on the planet, so yes, Pence would be an improvement.

Please google 'The Seven Mountains', and 'The Forty Year Plan '' etc. to infiltrate and take over the U.S. Government (The planet !!!) for God. The Charismatic belief is that when the world can be cleansed (??!!!) then the earth will be returned to God and Jesus can safely take form on earth again. Greed for money and power is nothing compaired to the zealousness of people (Congressmen for instance) who are 3rd and 4th generation 'warriors' home schooled by passionate parents and grandparents who believe it is their sacred purpose on earth to make the world safe again for Jesus. 40 years to put this plan in place, and Mr. Pense is the perfect Messiah. It explains Sara P (almost president) but that didn't work out.
Research this movement - small in numbers, but powerful because of 40 years to infiltrate the law making local, state and national governments. Don't forget Armageddon comes first, to get rid of all the 'others.' I am appalled at the ridiculousness of T as president, but I am, not at all in agreement that Pence would be 'an improvement'.

Mr pence has his own set of legal issues and ethical complaint's to deal with. He will never convince America that he did not know what he was stepping into.

Donald Trump has already proven himself the most dishonest person to ever hold the office of President of the United States, but his sidekick Mike Pence might not be far behind him in that regard – and in fact Pence may be plotting against Trump as we speak. Pence has been engaged in a mysterious bit of fundraising all on his own of late. And now that’s culminated in a meeting with one of the infamous Koch Brothers, which he lied about to try to keep it a secret.

Mike Pence used the cover of attending a banquet held by an anti-gay hate group as an excuse to fly to Colorado, but it turns out his real motivation for doing so was to meet with Charles Koch in secret. Pence’s team insisted the meeting wasn’t happening, and even lied to the The Hill about it in an attempt at keeping it secret (link). The Koch Brothers regularly fund the most extremist elements of the Republican Party, and Pence is as much of a bigoted extremist as they come, so there was no real reason for him to keep the meeting from the public – unless of course he was really trying to keep it from Donald Trump.

Earlier this month Pence launched his own Super PAC, an odd move considering he’s officially supposed to be Trump’s 2020 reelection running mate, and not running a campaign of his own. When he announced later in the month that he’d hired a high powered attorney to represent him in the Trump-Russia scandal, it instead pointed to the PAC perhaps being an attempt at covering his forthcoming legal bills. But his Koch meeting points to something else entirely.

The only way Mike Pence can be running for President in 2020 is if he’s already President, and that would require ousting Donald Trump. So Pence’s secret meeting with a top Republican donor raises the question of whether Pence might be planning to help the GOP oust Trump before his term is over. That might sound like a stretch to some, but the escalating saga of Pence’s secret fundraising efforts can’t be ignored. Whatever it is, he’s up to something, and he doesn’t seem to want Trump to figure it out.

As a "used to" church goer, I do not listen to Mike Pence. He was chosen for a reason, and Indianans were proud to be rid of him governor re-election.

Just like Barbie Palin...don't give me your God while you destroy those not as fortunate in the name of the LORD.

Pence could be easily pounded down through 'normal' channels, unlike Trump.
Pence plays by the rules because he knows them, Trump doesn't. I'm all for getting trump out asap!

I'm all for seeing the backside of Trump too, but did you not read the following information in the comments above???? (11:43 am) The danger with Pence is the 'religious' belief stated in 'the Reclaiming of the Seven Mountains for God' (that means having zealous and deeply religious Charismatic 'believers' in place in jobs in each of the 7 mountains) . it is fine to destroy (kill to cleanse the earth for Jesus' return).) Americans and all people who do not 'belong' must be removed. This is bizarre, but very real. Do your research. The Seven Mountains to be reclaimed are Government, Media, Education (!), Business, Religion (!), Family, and Arts and Entertainment.
Please see post at 11:43 am. It starts "Google Seven Mountains" and describes a Charismatic movement that has been in place for 40 years - and Pence is the perfect leader to seal its success. Do the research and see what is happening behind the glitzy news of Trump.
