Well said.

As you probably noticed I did not post about the Kathy Griffin kerfuffle, because to be honest I did not think there was very much to say.

She was wrong.

As much as most of us might truly dislike Donald Trump, it is simply not okay to threaten the life of a president, or to spread such disgusting imagery.

However as John Fugelsang so artfully illustrates, at least our progressive leaders do not defend this kind of rhetoric.
Much less invite those who spread it to the White House.

Apparently, the Trumps are more concerned about Kathy Griffin's effect on Barron than they are about his father's climate policy. They're all assholes.

Having two autistic grandchildren myself, it is hard for them to separate imagery from reality. Assholes or not, they are right to be concerned.

But not concerned about his fathers Kitty grabbing tape.

Well I guess Melanomia is failing at her job monitoring Barron’s access to the Internet and tv.

Also, it has not been "proven" that Barron is autistic.

      Truth! tiny djt only has
a RICTU$ is a frozen, fake $MILE. If the star of a play finds herself overcome by stage fright, she might forget her lines and stand, trembling, her mouth twisted into a rictus. The word rictus most often describes a smile that doesn't convey delight or happiness — instead, it's a kind of horrified, involuntary grin."

    5. I used to teach sixth graders. I also taught a sp. ed. class with quite a few autistic children.

None of them spent time on news sights or any websight that would have posted that Kathy Griffin photo.

They spent their time on games. Even the free with advertising game sights wouldn't have posted that picture as they screen their advertising for appropriate content and it is mostly selling stuff a 12 year old would want; toys and cereal.

If Barron sees that photo it's because someone showed it to him intentionally.

In 8 years he'd have to really search for it. by that time he should be able to handle "adult" content.

I'm not defending Griffin. She did cross the line.

But she is a comedian and she pushes the envelope. She also has the same first amendment rights as the rest of us. That photo wasn't as much of a threat to Trump as Nugent's statements were a threat to Obama.

      Just sayin'.

The Kathy Griffin thing was CLEARLY a joke. It's not the first fake photo shoot she's done. Was it tasteless or out of line? Yeah. But it was satire, she does this for a living. It wasn't a threat.

She apologized, and she'll pay for her joke dearly. One thing that can be said about Kathy is she picked a powerful target. She's got balls. Trump only goes after people who can't hurt him, like most cowardly bullies,

Just don’t take the bait and feel like you have to condemn OR justify Kathy Griffin to fucking asshole conservatives who, by their long record of inaction (or outright support) when it comes to ACTUAL VIOLENCE THAT HURTS ACTUAL VULNERABLE POPULATIONS OF AMERICANS, have proven time and time again that they don’t fucking deserve a response on this from any of us.

For what it’s worth, Wonkette got the joke Kathy Griffin and Tyler Shields were probably at least partially inspired by. Renaissance artist Cristofano Allori painted his depiction of the deuterocanonical scene from the Book of Judith in 1613, of Jewish heroine Judith holding the severed head of Holofernes. Allori was far from the only artist to paint the gruesome scene.

    2. That is way over the educational grade of who this was directed at.

Griffin would have done better to have dressed and posed a bit more like Judith and used Steve Bannon's head. Maybe even put an estimated biblical date at the bottom too, since Bannon would love nothing better than to take us back to at least the iron age.

    3. Wonkette's may have been a play on Judith but thinking on it, I think Kathy Griffin's was a play on that Der Spiegel cover with Trump holding the bloody head of the Statue of Liberty.

Man, that artist should get a Pulitzer or something.

Thinking that viewers would identify with Judith in 1613 is far-fetched. The current visual is too close to the numerous ISIS beheadings.

Kathy Griffin was wrong. She apologized yet in less than 24 hours we are suppose to feel sorry for her? She lacks self-reflection for less than one day.

She's someone who can sure dish it out but she can't take it.

I'm am sick to death of Trump and Republicans! I'm extremely angry over the pull out of the Paris climate deal, health care debacle, and threat to hard fought women's rights being erroded. I'm tired of hearing about the disenfranchised Trump supporter. I am nauseated and angered daily over the racism in this country. I'm tired of being told to " get over" our loss of the election. I'm tired of the hypocrisy that Republicans show Every.Single.day. Although I am not an advocate of harming anyone, I understand the imagery behind Kathy Griffins stunt.

Any old excuse to demonize her.

Over the last 10 yrs we have witnessed the worst example of humanity coming from the right. I am not sure why Kathy G decided to do this stunt except that she was beside herself over some issue that toxic trump has said or done. This is common among decent folks at wits end today. Trump brings out the worst in everybody. Many politicians have received nasty dirty threats and bad media. In the last 10 yrs it has been the good people trying to help improve the world. Do we have the list of those that support the destruction of our country and world? Who and what are they? Who does Donald John Trump represent? He does not represent America.

Kathy is a comedian. This may have been funny to some. It was kinda like trump and his in your face actions to Americans. The alt fact news pundits can understand that? It was fake comedian news for the alt world from funny farm usa.

"i’m not afraid of Trump," she said. "He’s a bully. I’ve dealt with older white guys trying to keep me down my whole career."He wants to mess with me?" the comedian said at a press conference in Los Angeles. "He picked the wrong redhead!"
"Griffin says she didn't think people would be trying to "murder" her".

It seems "I'm Sorry" is the constant fake news outcome and comment. She said it. And no she should not cancel her tour nor continue to beat herself up for the decision to use this photo in her gig. It was a fake photo of a comedian and her staff decision. The producer had a say what was produced and why. Kathy is a very funny comedian and should not back down as many Professionals nor comedians have not backed down. These are not funny times in America but sometimes funny keeps bad times temporary tolerable until better. 11/9 is the new 911. We are under direct attack by silent majority global underground toxic waste gang of profit driven criminals within our borders. Citizen United. The biggest most outrageous crime against Americans issued by the supreme court. Giving a vote to toxic corporations was the most harmful crime against our country. And it shows today.

"'T'he Paris Agreement “hamstrings the United States while empowering the top polluting countries,” keeping “our magnificent country tied up and bound down” like Gulliver restrained by the Lilliputians while our rivals acquire an “economic edge.”
" “For an embattled president,” Kaufman wrote, “it does do one thing: It fulfills a campaign promise popular with his base.” In fact, immediately after the announcement, Trump sent out an email to supporters with the subject line “Promise Kept—Paris Climate Deal,”
ese are not the words of a guy who’s done his homework. They are the threats of a fearmonger who believes the worst of others, especially those who aren’t on his team. “Our withdrawal,” intoned Trump, “represents a reassertion of American sovereignty,”The word for what we saw in the Rose Garden is PROJECTION."

If some stupid republican had done this, they would have said it was "only a joke" and that would have been the end of it.

Personally I think it was a stupid move on the part of Kathy, but that is her problem.

  17. Actually, I think this is more a play off of the Der Spiegel cover that had Trump holding the bloody head of the Statue of Liberty.

In which case it would have been better if the Trump head had a Statue of Liberty headband on it or something.

All in all the joke failed. She may have gone too far but under the first amendment, at least she will not be arrested in the middle of the night and sent to Guantanamo or her dead body found in a ditch somewhere.

Right! Lets justify Griffin by comparing her to Nugent, or the rest of the troglodytes. Of course Republicans did not denounce what Nugent said, they are immoral slobs. Don't be the same.
