Angela Merkel finally got that handshake photo with Trump. Not sure it was worth it.

So this is the photo making the rounds from Trump's meeting with Merkel today.

I am not sure why they both appear surprised. (Maybe Trump thought he was grabbing something else.)

You can see in this video that Merkel had to work several moments to get Trump to take her hand.

As it turns out this is a meeting that almost did not happen due to a completely dysfunction White House.

Courtesy of Buzzfeed:

White House officials apparently waited too long to book accommodations for President Trump, leaving him without a hotel in Hamburg, Germany, as world leaders converge for the G20 summit.

Organizers announced the scheduled summit in February 2016, which requires 9,000 hotel rooms to accommodate world leaders, their sizable staffs, and security details.

The Hamburger Abendblatt, a local news outlet, reported that the US government wanted to accommodate Trump in the Four Seasons, but it was already booked. In fact, it turns out that every luxury hotel in Hamburg was reportedly booked by the time the Americans called, leaving Trump, who is associated with an empire of hotel properties, scrambling for a place to stay.

Several weeks ago there were even rumors Trump might have to sleep in Berlin and have to fly to Hamburg via helicopter.

Apparently Trump will be bunking over at the US Consulate General in Hamburg.

Tomorrow Trump will be kissing Putin's ass, so he needs to be well rested.

I wonder if they were really "booked" or just didn't want the Mango Menance at their hotel.

    1. Kinda what I was thinking.

The same "not available" Trump gave minorities who wanted to rent in his buildings.

    2. Anonymous1:47 AM

I'm sure the hotels didn't want any prostitute fueled pissing parties messing up their presidential suites.

  2. Anonymous5:30 PM

Oh, I love it, just love it. The only improvement would be that it's a single room with no room service. And is near the elevators.

  3. Anonymous5:42 PM

Hope they put him on a cot in the basement, how is he going to scam the taxpayers since we are already paying for the consulate?

Another idea would be to bunk him in with our military guys on one of our bases. He could explain to those that volunteered for military duty how he dodged the draft.

    1. Anonymous6:11 PM

I was going to say crib, but there isn't one big enough. Have Melania and Ivanka sing him "Bsby Mine" from Dumbo as he sucks his thumb to sleep.

  4. Anonymous5:52 PM

How does it feel to meet the new co-leader of the free world, Donnie Boy? Is that why you look so uncomfortable?

Nice try with the President Obama dissing to the Poles. Don't you think the world already knows exactly who and what he is?

  5. Anonymous5:54 PM

Why not stay at the Motel 8? They'll leave the light on.
Too bad SNL is in summer hiatus. That would have been a funny skit.

  6. I love it! How well played is this?

    Wear flats, girls.

"... Joachim Sauer [Merkel's husband], a professor of physical and theoretical chemistry, wants them all to visit the center to essentially get a lesson on how Germany helps lead the world in climate change research. This was a highly clever way for Merkel to attack Trump on climate change, because if Ivanka and Melania refused to take the tour, it would be quite diplomatically rude. ..."

    1. Anonymous8:24 PM

The wives came along for the trip?

  7. And here's Poland's first lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda snubbing Trump's handshake. Tit for Tat. Now he knows what it feels like. Perhaps Agata and Merkel are close friends?

Just look at his pouty face when Agata bypasses him to shake hands with Melania, leaving him to be an afterthought. Then he shuffles off in his spoiled brat swagger, like he was denied his second scoop of ice cream.

Jeez, what a shit we have for president.

  8. 18 states and D.C. are suing Betsy DeVos over student loans.

"Eighteen states and the District of Columbia are suing Education Secretary Betsy DeVos over her decision to suspend a rule that helps student loan borrowers who were defrauded by for-profit colleges.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in federal district court in Washington, D.C., was led by Massachusetts and joined by 18 other attorneys general. It takes aim at DeVos’ decision to freeze an Obama-era rule known as the “borrower defense to repayment,” which helped forgive student loan debt for people whose for-profit colleges closed amid fraud accusations, leaving students without degrees and with piles of debt."

I'd like to know exactly how much this bitch can take before she finally resigns.

    1. And it gets better.

"The head of the Department of Education’s civil rights office, Candice Jackson, issued a memo in June instructing staff to scale back their investigations of systemic civil rights issues at public schools and universities, including the mishandling of sexual assault cases. Whereas the Obama administration required staff to review past information along with each complaint to identify potential systemic problems with how campuses handle rape cases or discriminate against certain classes of victims, the Trump administration will scrap those rules and investigate each complaint at face value."

    2. Anonymous3:55 AM

I think that federal workers are being pushed to do all sorts of things they have never been asked to do before. One of Trump's first (Inauguration Night) executive orders instructed federal employees involved in any way with the ACA to obstruct it. They are literally asking federal employees to perform illegal actions.

    3. Anonymous7:50 AM

      Ha ha!
      Thanks for those gems, Mlaiuppa!

  9. Anonymous7:01 PM

His staffers thought he would be somewhere else? Like jail, so they did not book room in Germany.

  10. Anonymous7:03 PM

Tomorrow our country is being handed over to an evil person. Possibly one that is worst than Hitler.
Donald thinks he is smart but he is not. So history tomorrow is not on our side.

  11. Anonymous7:13 PM

Everyone is acting like this is the first time trump is meeting putin.
I think don was given vlad's agenda a long long time ago.
Vlad's method is, you can suspect it but ya can't prove it. Those who have tried to prove it died a terrible death. The end.
Oh, and just for entertainment I would like to see that Golden Shower video they are holding over Trump's head. No judging. I've been vindictive in my day too.

    1. Anonymous7:54 PM

Anyone that thinks that this is their first meeting is a fool.

  12. Anonymous7:23 PM

They probably don't want any urine on their mattresses.
Hey, I was wondering if Trump supporters are real. I mean, if Putin had to bus supporters in Poland for Trump perhaps his supporters are working for Putin.
I mean an American would be outraged at all these horrible threats to our democracy but the Fox and Friends, the Trump supporters, and the Republicans just aren't threatened.
Is is possible? Just wondering. You know that Putin must have a long range plan of world domination. I mean after all he did set this whole fiasco years ago. Money talks with those on the Trump team you know.
Whoever is behind Trump's presidency worked hard to get here. What for, I wonder. Hmmmmmmm.

  13. Anonymous7:43 PM

Trump probably wanted to sleep in the US Consulate. Maybe it is true he was videotaped receiving a Russian golden shower and is now paranoid to sleep in a foreign hotel getting videotaped with his stomach and skin dropping to his ankles.

  14. Anonymous8:18 PM

    Wait a second!

If Trump slept in a German hotel, he can't keep it a secret that teams of Americans officials are marching in and out of his German hotel room to TRY to make Trump knowledgeable about world affairs and Putin.

By sleeping in the consulate who would know who is helping Trump during the night?

This is similar to what the Republican Party did to Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin is so damn dumb the GOP had teams of government officials trying their hardest to teach things like North Korea is not one of our allies.

    1. Get real.

You think Trump wants to learn anything? He thinks he knows it all.

You think officials think they can teach Trump anything in a night after trying to teach him for the last 6 months?

Nope. This is simply another example of the incompetence of the Trump administration. Just clueless.

I'm surprised he's not reduced to bunking on Air Force One like a homeless person sleeps in their car.

    2. Anonymous7:49 AM

Doesn't he still have that old, out of date 747(tacky as shit) that he flew around in during the primaries? It has a bed in it that his 3rd wife was pictured on? Can't sleep in that?

  15. Anonymous8:25 PM

President Trump had more people at his Poland speech than Obama had at his Berlin speech. Fact is fact.

    1. Anonymous9:47 PM

      Your point?

    2. Anonymous10:05 PM

hey numbnutz the poland crowd were bused in - probably didn't have much choice in the matter..

I also suspect you think drump's inauguration crowd was bigger than Prez Obama's too, eh ..

    3. Anonymous10:07 PM

I hear they were paid to be there and cheer. The babyman needs constant adoration.

    4. Anonymous3:52 AM

Trump and his GOP should have flown in supporters from former Soviet states for his inauguration. There might have been a bigger crowd that way.

    5. Anonymous7:46 AM

The social climate in Poland is Very Bad.
I read The Guardian, and they report on this.
Poland is heading back into authoritarianism. It's worse there than here. Access to a safe and legal abortion there is practiacly nill.

  16. Anonymous8:32 PM

I hope they give him a cot in the clock room.

Where will his enormous staff stay? What a cluster....

  17. Anonymous10:41 PM

They could stay at a youth hostel--you can book a family room, and you only have to do one chore a day to get the cheaper price. At least that's how it was "back in the day."

  18. Anonymous10:42 PM

That's because Poland's president BUSSED IN PEOPLE paid to cheer for Trump. FACT!

Confused Looking Trump Totally HUMILIATES Himself When He Gets Lost On Stage In Poland

...Now, those things are already seriously problematic. However, the real, visible shocker came as Trump finished his speech on the stage in Poland – in front of a crowd the Polish government had bussed in to cheer for Trump because they are aware of how fragile his ego is. When he was done speaking, Trump walked from behind the bullet proof barrier that was there to protect his life. But instead of walking off the stage or going toward his security detail, he just wandered around looking confused, clearly unsure of what to do next. Finally, he just stood there like a deer in headlights.

Now, I am no doctor, and far be it from me to diagnose the man with anything. I won’t do that. But something seems to be seriously wrong there. That’s not just Trump’s rank incompetence. That’s clear confusion. He literally had no clue what was going on around him or what he was supposed to be doing. I guess we should be grateful he managed to read from a teleprompter for a bit before whatever is going on with him reared its ugly head.

And this is the guy with the nuclear codes. Think about that and fear for the future of the world.

I think it's sweet how his hands are the same size as Angela's.

Why are Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump at the G-20 summit? They are both out of place. WTF?

    1. Anonymous6:04 PM

Ivanka was there as the go between putin and daddy using her friendship with putin's girlfriend as a cover.

It just goes directly to their thighs.
