You can see in this video that Merkel had to work several moments to get Trump to take her hand.
As it turns out this is a meeting that almost did not happen due to a completely dysfunction White House.

White House officials apparently waited too long to book accommodations for President Trump, leaving him without a hotel in Hamburg, Germany, as world leaders converge for the G20 summit.
Organizers announced the scheduled summit in February 2016, which requires 9,000 hotel rooms to accommodate world leaders, their sizable staffs, and security details.
The Hamburger Abendblatt, a local news outlet, reported that the US government wanted to accommodate Trump in the Four Seasons, but it was already booked. In fact, it turns out that every luxury hotel in Hamburg was reportedly booked by the time the Americans called, leaving Trump, who is associated with an empire of hotel properties, scrambling for a place to stay.
Several weeks ago there were even rumors Trump might have to sleep in Berlin and have to fly to Hamburg via helicopter.
Apparently Trump will be bunking over at the US Consulate General in Hamburg.
Tomorrow Trump will be kissing Putin's ass, so he needs to be well rested.
I wonder if they were really "booked" or just didn't want the Mango Menance at their hotel.

ReplyDeleteAnother idea would be to bunk him in with our military guys on one of our bases. He could explain to those that volunteered for military duty how he dodged the draft.

I think that federal workers are being pushed to do all sorts of things they have never been asked to do before. One of Trump's first (Inauguration Night) executive orders instructed federal employees involved in any way with the ACA to obstruct it. They are literally asking federal employees to perform illegal actions.

I mean an American would be outraged at all these horrible threats to our democracy but the Fox and Friends, the Trump supporters, and the Republicans just aren't threatened.

Trump probably wanted to sleep in the US Consulate. Maybe it is true he was videotaped receiving a Russian golden shower and is now paranoid to sleep in a foreign hotel getting videotaped with his stomach and skin dropping to his ankles.

ReplyDelete...Now, those things are already seriously problematic. However, the real, visible shocker came as Trump finished his speech on the stage in Poland – in front of a crowd the Polish government had bussed in to cheer for Trump because they are aware of how fragile his ego is. When he was done speaking, Trump walked from behind the bullet proof barrier that was there to protect his life. But instead of walking off the stage or going toward his security detail, he just wandered around looking confused, clearly unsure of what to do next. Finally, he just stood there like a deer in headlights.
Now, I am no doctor, and far be it from me to diagnose the man with anything. I won’t do that. But something seems to be seriously wrong there. That’s not just Trump’s rank incompetence. That’s clear confusion. He literally had no clue what was going on around him or what he was supposed to be doing. I guess we should be grateful he managed to read from a teleprompter for a bit before whatever is going on with him reared its ugly head.
And this is the guy with the nuclear codes. Think about that and fear for the future of the world.
