Donald Trump is celebrating victory over ISIS that owes its success to President Obama.

What his Twitter-ness fails to comprehend is that though this IS a victory for the United States, it is NOT a victory for him.

Courtesy of The Independent:

While the Iraqi armed forces staged an exhausting nine-month siege around the city of Mosul, the US-led air campaign in Iraq and Syria initiated by the former president appears to have proved successful in weakening Isis forces.

The US and its allies, including but not limited to the UK, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey, also provided continual training and advised proxy local forces without sending their own troops into action.

Pentagon officials told the AFP news agency that the outcome in Mosul was clear and that the Iraqi military had become a battle-hardened army which eventually prevailed.

One senior US military official who was deployed to Iraq from 2015 said the "training worked".

"It has enabled the Iraqis to take back their country," he said.

In 2014 things were looking grim in Iraq and Americans had no stomach for sending in more of our own troops.

So instead President Obama came up with a strategy called "by, with and through". Which involved training local Iraqi troops to fight in small units, set up defenses and breech minefields.

And that strategy is the one still being used today, and we know that because Donald Trump ordered a new plan and then rejected it last week because it was too similar to Obama's.

So this victory? This is all courtesy of President Obama.

(P.S. The good jobs numbers are as well.)

  2. Unfortunate,y for dumbass dubya's quagmire, there is no existing, strong, stable government in place to command that military. In a week or two the bad guys will filter back in and fighting will go on. This is my opinion. Not based on any political strategy.

Trump’s Day Just Got Even Worse As Calls Grow For A Criminal Investigation

Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) just made Trump's problems a lot worse by writing to the FEC and demanding an investigation into whether Trump broke campaign finance and criminal laws by accepting a contribution or a donation from Russia.

The ‘Did Trump’s Campaign Collude’ Debate Is Over. The Only Question Now Is How Much.

...How far the collusion went, and what elements will be provable, is hard to say. But a few larger realities are suggestive. Trump has, and many of his close advisers have, lied repeatedly about their contacts with Russia. Many of his norm-breaking actions — from the refusal to disclose the tax returns that would reveal the extent of his ties to, or dependence upon, Moscow, to his firing of Preet Bharara and James Comey — can be most rationally explained as a desire to cover the story up.

How the intelligence community is decoding Donald Trump Jr.'s emails

    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/how-the-intelligence-community-is-decoding-of-donald-trump-jrs-emails/article/2628288

We Now Have Proof of Trump’s Collusion With the Kremlin

As Winston Churchill famously said, this is the end of the beginning

After months of speculation about the relationship between President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin, hard evidence has at last emerged which is deeply damaging to the White House. This represents a turning point in the ever-more-complex saga of what I’ve termed KremlinGate, and how the Trump White House handles the revelation will determine its future—if it even has one.

This comes on the heels of the president’s sidebar one-on-one meeting with his Russian counterpart last weekend at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany. Despite the fact that—as I recently noted—a meeting with the Kremlin leader (when the U.S. Intelligence Community says his spy services helped elect Trump last year) would seem to be the very last thing any sensible administration would want, Trump went ahead with it.

The meeting itself was awkwardly long, and afterwards neither side could agree on what was said. At a minimum, Trump allowed Putin to appear as his equal (and perhaps more, to examine the body language on display) and proceeded to go along with the Kremlin line that Russian intelligence played no nefarious role in keeping Hillary Clinton from the White House. That is dismissed as blatant deception by our spy agencies, yet appears to be accepted by Trump and his minions, extensive intelligence evidence to the contrary.

To make matters worse, once he was home, Trump fired off numerous combative tweets about his relationship with Putin, including the stunning idea that he and the Kremlin boss had discussed setting up a joint cybersecurity unit with Moscow to ensure the integrity of future elections. This, simply put, was the most shocking policy suggestion uttered by any American president in my lifetime—and quite possibly ever.

To get this straight: Trump wanted to share American cyber-secrets with the country whose spy services illegally and clandestinely helped put him in the White House, and which continue to cyber-pillage our government and economy right now, in real time.

Donald Trump Jr. inexplicably published evidence of his own treason this morning when he tweeted out a copy of the email conversation which set up his meeting with the Russian government to discuss sabotaging Hillary Clinton. Why did he do it? Is he somehow under the impression that this gets him off the hook? Is he trying to take the fall to save his father? Either way, one key detail in the email exchange suggests Donald Trump did indeed know all about it.

In his tweet this morning, Donald Trump Jr. posted his entire email exchange with his friend Rob Goldstein. It refers to the meeting being with a “Russian government attorney” which proves he knew he was meeting with the Kremlin. Even the subject line says “Russia – Clinton – private and confidential” which proves he knew the meeting was about Hillary. So every claim reported by the New York Times over the past three days is proven true here. But then comes the mention of “Rhona.”

In the final exchange, Goldstone says to Donald Trump Jr., “I can send this info to your father via Rhona, but it is ultra sensitive so wanted to send to you first.” (link). Rhona Graff is Donald Trump’s private secretary/scheduler at Trump Tower in New York. It was documented by Politico earlier this year that those in the know are still going through Rhona to reach Donald Trump, even for political matters (link). And here’s Rob Goldstone, offering to forward this treasonous email exchange to her.

...BUT! In light of Donald Trump Jr.’s Tweeter Confessions about how ayup, he jumped up and down and jizzed his lucky panties when Rob Goldstone, a family pal with ties to Russian pop stars and oligarchs, offered him a meeting with a “Russian government lawyer,” promising she would give the campaign some dirty down low dirties on Hillary Clinton’s dealings with Russia, David Corn went back to the dossier and found that SURPRISE, Junior’s confession actually lines up in some parts, starting with Steele’s memo from June 20, 2016:

The Trump-Russia Conspiracy Is Now Very Simple

You don’t even have to connect dots.

Here’s a point missing in much of the coverage of Donald Trump Jr.’s bombshell emails: If they are an accurate depiction of events, these messages show there was a conspiracy between the Putin regime and the Trump camp that was exceedingly simple and compact and quite easy to implement. The apparent plot—yes, it was a secret plot—involved a small number of people: three of Donald Trump’s closest advisers, a Trump business partner (and that man’s son), a Russian official close to Vladimir Putin, and two emissaries. Actually, none of this is surprising. Or complicated. You do not need Agent Mulder to get to the bottom of this.

Let’s start with Aras Agalarov. He is a billionaire developer in Russia in favor with Vladimir Putin, who in 2013 awarded him the Order of Honor for his construction work in Russia. Agalarov is also a business partner of Donald Trump. In 2013, he signed up with Trump to bring to Moscow the Miss Universe contest, which Trump co-owned at the time. That deal was brokered by Emin Agalarov, Aras’s son and a middling pop star, and Emin’s manager, a Brit named Rob Goldstone.

For years, Trump had tried to do hotel and condo projects in Moscow. All these endeavors had failed or fizzled. (Trump Vodka had flopped, too.) The Miss Universe event was his only successful venture there. It was good for the Agalarovs. The contest was held in Crocus City Hall, part of a large shopping and exhibition complex they own on the outskirts of Moscow, and they were able to raise their profile and promote their ritzy theater there. Emin, as part of the deal, got to perform two songs before a global audience, which he and Goldstone hoped would boost his career.

The event made at least $12 million for Trump’s Miss Universe Organization. Even better for Trump, the pageant forged a tight bond between him and Aras and Emin Agalarov. Trump appeared in a music video Emin released. The Trump Organization and the Agalarovs started working on a deal to bring a Trump tower to Moscow. In fact, as Yahoo News reports, Ivanka Trump traveled to Moscow shortly after the event to scout locations. Here is a photo Goldstone posted on his Facebook page of Ivanka meeting with Emin there:

552, This is about family, family affairs. Jared was at Don Jr's meeting. Ivanka, not at meeting, but with the Russian family that is so close to the Trumps. Jr was so excited to get some dirt on Ivanka's friend, Chelsea's mother Hilary. Seems like a small circle of friends.

Jr would not have responded to emails from a strange publicist. Goldstone was friends with Trumps and Agalarovs. Jr loved what was coming from family friends about Chelsea's mother (close to sister). Brother-in-law, sister's husband is in the middle of it all. He forgot the meeting until the the campaign man reminded him with his memory that they all met at Trump Tower. Family and friends.

Agalarov family is part of this circle around the Trumps. No wonder Trumps love Russia so much. These are great friendships.

I feel for victims of psychopaths who pen unathorized bios pretending they have a right to discuss another person as if they live inside that persons mind. Who thinks like that? President Trump personally signed off on false statement claiming Don Jr.’s meeting was about adoption: report

Rancor at White House as Russia Story Refuses to Let the Page Turn

If President Trump emerged from his meeting with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia last week hoping he had begun to “move forward” from the controversy over the Kremlin’s election meddling, as advisers put it, his flight home the next day made clear just how overly optimistic that was.

As Air Force One jetted back from Europe on Saturday, a small cadre of Mr. Trump’s advisers huddled in a cabin helping to craft a statement for the president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., to give to The New York Times explaining why he met last summer with a lawyer connected to the Russian government. Participants on the plane and back in the United States debated about how transparent to be in the statement, according to people familiar with the discussions.

Ultimately, the people said, the president signed off on a statement from Donald Trump Jr. for The Times that was so incomplete that it required day after day of follow-up statements, each more revealing than the last. It culminated on Tuesday with a release of emails making clear that Mr. Trump’s son believed the Russian lawyer was seeking to meet with him to provide incriminating information about Hillary Clinton as “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.”

The Russia story has become the brier patch from which the president seemingly cannot escape. It dominated his trip to Europe last week and, after he leaves on Wednesday night for a couple of days in France, it may dominate that trip as well. Every time Mr. Trump tries to put the furor behind him, more disclosures thrust it back onto the Washington agenda.

Even before the latest reports, Mr. Trump’s head-spinning willingness on creating a joint cybersecurity team with Russia fueled criticism. Now people close to the president and to his legal effort are engaged in a circular firing squad, anonymously blaming one another for the decisions of the last few days.

The emails, which the younger Mr. Trump released after learning that The Times had obtained copies and was about to publish them, undercut the president’s line of defense in the Russia inquiry. For months, Mr. Trump has dismissed suspicions of collusion between Russia and his team as “fake news” and a “total hoax.” His eldest son, likewise, had previously asserted that talk of collusion was “disgusting” and “so phony.” Donald Trump Jr. said in a Fox News interview that he would have done things differently in retrospect, but he maintained he had done nothing improper.

At a minimum, however, the emails show that the younger Mr. Trump was not only willing, but also eager, to accept help advertised as coming from the Russian government. “I love it,” he wrote.

Joining him at the meeting with the Russian lawyer in June 2016 were Jared Kushner, his sister’s husband and now a senior White House adviser, and Paul J. Manafort, then the campaign chairman and a veteran political operative with longstanding ties to a pro-Russia party in Ukraine. Both the younger Mr. Trump and the Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, have said in recent days that no incriminating information about Mrs. Clinton was actually passed along during the meeting at Trump Tower, but that Ms. Veselnitskaya did discuss American sanctions imposed on Russian human rights offenders.

While Donald Trump Jr. has been the main focus of the controversy because he set up the meeting, Mr. Kushner faces potential trouble because he currently works in the White House and neglected to mention the encounter on forms he filled out for a background check to obtain a security clearance.

Donald Trump Jr. Makes the Russian Connection

By THE EDITORIAL BOARD JULY 11, 2017

All along, the truth was right there in the emails — Donald Trump Jr.’s emails, that is, which he released publicly on Twitter Tuesday morning after learning that The New York Times was about to publish their contents.

In language so blunt and obvious it would make a Hollywood screenwriter blush, the emails confirm what the president, his son and others have denied repeatedly for more than a year: that top members of the Trump campaign met with representatives of the Russian government in the expectation of help in damaging Hillary Clinton and getting Donald Trump elected.

On June 3, 2016, the younger Mr. Trump received an email from Rob Goldstone, a former British tabloid reporter and music publicist, telling him that a Russian government lawyer had “offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.”

Mr. Goldstone went on, “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.”

At this point, any halfway competent and ethical campaign would have contacted the F.B.I. That’s what the Gore campaign did in 2000 when it mysteriously received confidential debate materials belonging to the Bush campaign.

In President Trump’s world, ethics is for suckers. His son wrote back to Mr. Goldstone, “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer” — when he probably assumed it would do the most damage.

On June 9, the younger Mr. Trump met at Trump Tower with the Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, who has connections to the Kremlin. Also attending were members of the Trump inner circle — Paul Manafort, the campaign chairman, and Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and now a senior White House adviser. (Mr. Kushner initially failed to mention this meeting, and several others with Russian officials, on his security clearance application.)

    What happened at the meeting?

Smear campaign and blackmail are next.

An evening scoop from the Washington Post revealed, among other stories, that some Republicans close to President Donald Trump’s White House are seeking to discredit some of the journalists reporting on Trump Jr.’s Russia meeting in an attempt to move past the story.

“A handful of Republican operatives close to the White House are scrambling to Trump Jr.’s defense and have begun what could be an extensive campaign to try to discredit some of the journalists who have been reporting on the matter,” the report noted.

According to an anonymous member of the discrediting “team,” such efforts would include digging into the reporters’ past work “to exploit any mistakes or perceived biases” and “to demand corrections, trumpet errors on social media and feed them to conservative outlets, such as Fox News.”

It appears that now, even editors at Steve Bannon’s conservative website privately believe Donald Trump Jr. is guilty of colluding with the Russians — while defending him in print.

According to CNN, Raheem Kassam, Breitbart London’s editor-in-chief, reveals that the leader of the British wing of the alt-right’s flagship news site is privately concerned about Donald Trump, Jr.’s emails.

“So like, this is straight up collusion, right?” Kassam wrote in a transcript of the company’s internal Slack channel obtained by CNN.

The message of anxiety reportedly came in the minutes after Trump Jr. released the email chain setting up his meeting with a Russian lawyer poised to give him “dirt” on Hillary Clinton — a move that appeared to be an attempt to “get ahead” of a New York Times piece where he also disclosed the emails.

Kassam wasn’t the only Breitbart-er stunned by the news: senior editor Rebecca Mansour responded only with the word “wow,” while deputy politics editor Rebecca House simply wrote “???????” to voice her astonishment.

The Russia poison that's paralyzing the Trump presidency

...In nature, the Komodo dragon's bite spells the end for its prey because it causes an infection; injury is followed by raging illness and fever before its target succumbs. In the case of Russia and the Trump campaign and presidency, the danger posed by the dragon was ignored by a group that, like its candidate, was aggressive to the point of seeming, at times, unhinged.
Metaphorically, like the dragon's prey, they lacked the elements of a proper immune system defense -- humility, caution, and ethical limits -- required to preserve themselves. Nearly paralyzed, the administration now labors under a cloud of scandal that casts a shadow over the nation and the world, both of which have been deprived of proper leadership by the White House.

If the dragon prevails, June 9, 2016 may be identified as the day the fatal wound was inflicted.
