Donald Trump relents, says he will sign Russia sanctions bill.

Here's the deal, I own you. I say jump, you say how high. Clear?
Courtesy of TPM:

President Donald Trump will sign a package of stiff financial sanctions against Russia that passed Congress with overwhelming support, the White House said Friday. Moscow has already responded, ordering a reduction in the number of U.S. diplomats in Russia and closing the U.S. Embassy’s recreation retreat.

Trump’s willingness to support the measure is a remarkable acknowledgement that he has yet to sell his party on his hopes for forging a warmer relationship with Moscow. His vow to extend a hand of cooperation to Russian President Vladimir Putin has been met with resistance as skeptical lawmakers look to limit the president’s leeway to go easy on Moscow over its meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

The Senate passed the bill, 98-2, two days after the House pushed the measure through by an overwhelming margin, 419-3. Both were veto-proof numbers.

The White House initially wavered on whether the president would sign the measure into law. But in a statement late Friday, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Trump had “reviewed the final version and, based on its responsiveness to his negotiations, approves the bill and intends to sign it.”

This is only because Trump is boxed in and realizes that if he vetoes the bill that the Congress will just override it.

Which I'm sure is exactly what he is tearfully explaining to Vladimir Putin right now.

And the very fact that the White House wavered about the possibility that Trump would sign this is really all the evidence you need to assure you that Donnie is still Putin's little bitch.

I don't know if you were able to watch Lawrence O'Donnell last night (it's replaying right now on MSNBC) but his and his guests' take down of the tRump White House is remarkable. Watch it if you can!

Loved the multiple guests saying new WH COS Kelly will have to tell Trump to dump Smooch, Jared and Ivanka. My bet is Kelly will be gone in 60 days.

What a schmuck! The current sanctions bill passed with veto proof majorities in both the House and Senate. Donnie will 'graciously' sign it. Yeah, right Dolt45. If this were basketball and not politics, the comparison would be not blocking a shot by LeBron James to avoid the "facial" of your lifetime. #coward #sad

What I want to know is why Bernie voted against it. He and Rand Paul were the two nays.

    4. This wasn't just about sanctions. I think there was other stuff in it.

At a guess I'd say because one thought it went too far and one not far enough. That's the way things seem to be falling out in D.C.right now.

A bill before congress always has way more in it than just the one thing.
Bernie stated that he voted no because he didnt want to jeopardize Obama's Iran nuclear deal from 2015. He also stated that he was in favor of actual sanctions against Russia and Iran.
the rest of you couldnt be bothered to read the man's official statement? At least mlaiuppa did.

President Trump's "New Senate Cooperation Incentive Program"

    IF THE SENATE DON'T PLAY
    THE POOR WILL PAY PROGRAM

..If the Senate doesn't pass a bill soon, Trump warned, he may halt Obamacare payments subsidizing health plans for low-income individuals — an idea adamantly opposed by Republicans and Democrats alike.

That is f'd up holding my people and I, the down and out, hostage.

All Trump wants to do is go on his SEE THE REDNECKS LOVES ME TOUR XX and report he kept his campaign promise to sign his health care bill.

    1. Schumer is already calling his bluff on that.

Trump is being taught the hard way how things are done. He is a slow and obstinate learner but eventually enough slaps upside the head might get through. Or he'll be so addled they'll have to invoke Amend 25, section 4.

How do we suppose Trump would handle being handed a diagnosis like John McCain just got? What would we expect from someone always shielded from consequences since he was old enough to walk?

Bush had 9/11 and Katrina and Obama had the BP oil spill. Many talking heads are convinced Trump will be handed some similar crisis before long, and they don't sound optimistic. And why would they?

Before long? What a stupid statement. We have zero clue when a natural disaster will occur.

But, I do agree and worry as to something like that being totally mishandled by The Don! He's so inept.

Stupid? Hardly. Many say that 9/11 was orchestrated and I can't say unequivocally that they're wrong. I wouldn't put it past nmp and miinions to re-create something similar with innocent lives taken to further their agenda.

Can I point out that Trump has killed a record number of civilians in his amateur war games? He has no problem with innocent Muslim people dying.... and he won't have a problem with huge numbers of American Muslims dying, either.

Anonymous @4:37 Google is your friend. Here, in his own words, is why Senator Sanders voted nay:

    1. WASHINGTON, June 15 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement Thursday after he voted against a bill that would impose new sanctions on Iran and Russia:

"I am strongly supportive of the sanctions on Russia included in this bill. It is unacceptable for Russia to interfere in our elections here in the United States, or anywhere around the world. There must be consequences for such actions.

I also have deep concerns about the policies and activities of the Iranian government, especially their support for the brutal Assad regime in Syria. I have voted for sanctions on Iran in the past, and I believe sanctions were an important tool for bringing Iran to the negotiating table.

But I believe that these new sanctions could endanger the very important nuclear agreement that was signed between the United States, its partners and Iran in 2015. That is not a risk worth taking, particularly at a time of heightened tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia and its allies.

I think the United States must play a more even-handed role in the Middle East, and find ways to address not only Iran's activities, but also Saudi Arabia's decades-long support for radical extremism."

Good Trumpie. He shouldn't be afraid that Putin will release any thing on him. We already know what a jerk he is. Having pros piss on a bed ain't nuthin compared to what crap Donald has really done.
And I am still suspicious about Bernie Sanders. You know he made a lot of unnecessary trouble for the DNC last summer. Out of no where he sowed discontent. He and Jill Stein. I wonder.

    1. I think Bernie Sanders voted no to keep his name in the news. I am so sick of his sheep saying what he would have done if he had been elected. He wasn't, so get over it. In three years he will be too old. Period. "If only" is never productive

I'm suspicious of Bernie Sanders too.

He created so much divisiveness that his supporters continue to spout to this day.

It's fine to want to change the DNC, but not during an active campaign where you cause people to not vote for the candidate over their issues with the DNC.
