Newest Senate health care bill would still leave 22 million more Americans without insurance.

Courtesy of Business Insider:

Republicans in the Senate just released another update to the Better Care Reconciliation Act, their plan to overhaul the US healthcare system.

Noticeably absent from this round bill is an amendment that was added just a week ago from Sens. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee that critics said could make plans with adequate coverage unaffordable to those who have certain medical conditions.

The Congressional Budget Office didn't have a chance to score that version of the bill. Instead, it analyzed the Senate bill based on the most-recently released draft that omits the amendment.

The CBO concluded that the bill would leave 22 million more Americans without insurance by 2026 compared with the current law, in line with their estimates for the original bill. The CBO also said that the revised bill would add $100 billion in deficit savings.

There is also this little nugget revealed by the CBO.
However as bad as all of that is, and boy that is bad, it does not even hold a candle to what happens if the Republicans move forward with that "repeal only" bill that some are still pushing forward.

Courtesy of Politico:

A revived bill that would dismantle large parts of Obamacare without an immediate replacement would leave 32 million more people uninsured and double premiums over a decade, the Congressional Budget Office said in a report Wednesday.

The legislation — an update of the repeal measure nearly all GOP senators voted for in 2015 — is on track to reach the Senate floor early next week, where it likely would fail.

Let's face it, the Republicans don't know dick about health care, and the ONLY way they are going to come up with a fix for the problems with Obamacare is if they stop attempting to get rid of it, and ask the Democrats to come on board to make it better.

And I think some of these guys would rather have open heart surgery without benefit of anesthesia than to swallow their pride and do that.

They don't care about the health care bill because everything they have ever wanted will be theirs soon enough - in a few short months (or a year or two) they will have totally dismantled our democracy, made sure trump, his gang and all of them are re-elected (and probably trump's sons after him) - there will be no repercussions - the sooner we wake up to this - the sooner we can fight it and start the long term (decades) job of trying to restore sanity and democracy - trump will fire Mueller, the republicans will do nothing about it, and he will pardon himself and all those involved - and the destruction of our country will continue with out any checks and balances - the article below lays it out
    ---
We’re on the Brink of an Authoritarian Crisis
If Trump fires Robert Mueller or pardons himself, Republicans won't do a thing about it—and our democracy will be changed forever.

"This brings us to Trump’s strongest, if most unsettling, argument: that even were his conduct criminal, a president cannot be indicted while in office. Though this question is unresolved, Justice Department guidelines and a body of scholarly opinion hold that criminal proceedings would unduly impede a president in executing his duties.

To this rationale his defenders add, remarkably and dubiously, that Trump’s pardoning power includes the power to pardon himself, rendering indictment pointless and placing America’s president completely beyond the reach of American law. So, too, would another step many are encouraging Trump to take — contriving to fire Robert Mueller or attempting to suppress any report of his findings. All of which, they propose, is perfectly lawful."

"Undeterred, they further insist that the emoluments clause of the Constitution — meant to foreclose corruption of public officials by foreign governments — does not provide a criminal penalty. Pursued to its logical cul-de-sac, this means that the constitutional bar against a president taking foreign money is without a legal or constitutional remedy, freeing Trump to enrich himself with impunity by leveraging the power of his office.

Taking their arguments together, his advocates would immunize Trump from all legal or constitutional constraints. Only such unprecedented empowerment, they assure us, can prevent Trump’s persecution for crass political purposes, rescuing the world’s most powerful man from malign forces bent on his victimization. And so, in the end, American law would mirror Trump’s own narcissism.

This is the gateway to autocracy and corruption. And it would leave Americans defenseless against a president who may have committed the highest of crimes, colluding with a foreign power to attack our democracy. Of all the ways that Trump has degraded our moral and political life, his legal enablers seek to further what is, perhaps, the worst."

      On day 1 -2009> Chief Justice Robert$
"After a day’s worth of chatter over whether the president had been properly sworn into office — he transposed a couple of words in the oath after being incorrectly prompted by the chief justice — advisers to Mr. Obama decided Wednesday afternoon to try it one more time.

Only hours after aides told reporters there was no reason to administer the oath again, they concluded it was easier to do it on the first day, rather than have someone challenge the legitimacy of his presidency."

The Republicans have had years to develop healthcare. It is not in the agenda. The agenda is to divide and fight. Even back to President Clinton and First Lady Hillary attempted with HMO's. Today we are at a MAJOR healthcare junction. First off, same healthcare for ALL. Eliminate Insurance and develop American owned healthcare centers in every town in America. All owned by Americans. Invest heavy in Genomic and advanced DNA research to cure. Stop healthcare for profit and Develop healthcare that cures and controls disease and cost less. Don't let insurance and pharma control our healthcare outcomes. We must own the healthcare. All USA citizens must have a chance and right to life. If we must have insurance then insurance for all.

Many weeks ago there was a televised meeting of a variety of health insurance experts. A lot of what they said was over my fundamental grasp of the industry. One thing was clear is that the uncertainty regarding repealing and or replacing the ACA
is having a big negative impact in health insurance.

It is too bad for Republicans that Trump made his unrealistic promises to the public to get votes and lied Obamacare is dying and a disaster. Trump had no plan and no facts based in reality enjoying provoking anger about the "other" while selling people his bull shit. This set up conditions of failure before they tackled any bill. I wonder if his stupid supporters believe the proposed bills contain the tax cuts for the rich?

It makes sense that the plan and expectation that if everyone was required to have health insurance then there would be a mix of ages and balance of well people, preventative care to offset people who have costly medical conditions.

I guess we should not be surprised that the GOP, despite having voted to abandon the ACA every couple of months during President Obama's terms in office, have never bothered to come up with an adequate replacement. They have never wanted to. Providing for the American people is the last thing that the GOP is interested in because their billionaire friends (the Kochs, the Mercers, the DeVos family, etc.) could care less about real, living people who work and pay taxes and serve in the military.

"Right-wing publishing company Regnery is responsible for releasing books written by conservative voices ranging from Michelle Malkin to Ann Coulter to Newt Gingrich to Donald Trump.

And now, as a new report from Mother Jones reveals, a member of the Regnery family has been instrumental in shoveling cash to members of the American white supremacist movement, including infamous neo-Nazi Richard Spencer.

According to Mother Jones, William H. Regnery II — nephew of Regnery Publishing founder Henry Regnery — has for years been terrified of whites becoming a minority in the United States. To combat this, he has generously funded several white supremacist think tanks and figures such as the aforementioned Spencer, who became notorious during the 2016 presidential campaign for his outspoken racism to promote the candidacy of Donald Trump."

"Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin signed a deal with Regnery Publishing to write Sweet Freedom: A Devotional. The faith-based book is scheduled for mid November, just in time for Christmas.

The devotional will feature 260 meditations--one for almost every day of the year--that explore and apply biblical principles to the pressing topics of our time."

“The Alt-Right Side of History Will Prevail”
So says the wealthy fringe Republican bankrolling white nationalist Richard Spencer.

“Working behind the scenes, the retired Chicago business executive has played an important role in making his ultra-right views a part of America’s political conversation in the era of Trump,” Mother Jones reports. “In 2011, Regnery made [Richard Spencer] the frontman for his white nationalist think tank, the National Policy Institute, providing Spencer the platform to launch the alt-right movement.”

“I am now persuaded that with your courage, the alt-right side of history will prevail,” Regnery told Spencer during a National Policy Institute conference last year.

The sad reality of medical care in this country is that the Republican Party does not want a majority of citizens to have health care. That's it in a nutshell. Then, to make matters even worse, the GOP wants to eliminate minimum wage requirements, making even more people even poorer. And, of course, Republicans want to deny health care coverage to anyone whose "lifestyle" is anything short of perfect.

How can people who cannot afford to feed, house or clothe themselves or their families adequately manage to have a "healthy lifestyle" thus meaning, in a Republican universe, that they won't get sick? And why do people of all "lifestyles" ultimately get sick and die? Or do rich Republicans live forever?

All over America are different families waking up to the diagnoses of Cancer, brain cancer, lung cancer, cancer.
John McCain awoke in his home, with sufficient income and insurance to assist him with cost of treatments, he has many many friends and family to support him and all the staff to assist him.
Most Average American does not have that. Most low income will not be able to afford treatment or have insurance. Republicans must understand that cancer does not discriminate. Republicans must understand that employers need healthy employees. It is better to have one excellent healthcare plan without exceptions for all than to play the health insurance shell game each year. It should be same as va, medicare, Medicaid, railroad, indian, etc. all the same.

Personally at this point I am no longer rallying or protesting, too many 3rd party voters have made it clear in the last few months ( most of them their only access to healthcare is through Obamacare) That they don't give a shit.

Well I have access to healthcare and I guess I am tired of putting my time and energy into something others need but don't give a flying fuck about. Fuck it, maybe they will care next yr when they have nothing.
When they start rallying, I will and not before. Yesterday I had a conversation with a Jill Stein voter and her attitude made sure it's not my worry.
