Thanks to New York Times article the Senate Intelligence committee would like to have a few words with Donald Trump Jr.

Courtesy of the AP:

A senior Republican on the Senate Intelligence committee says the panel should interview President Donald Trump’s eldest son about a meeting he and other Trump associates had last year with a Russian lawyer to hear information about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Sen. Susan Collins of Maine told reporters on Monday that “our intelligence committee needs to interview him and others who attended the meeting” as part of the panel’s probe into Russian interference in last year’s election and possible collusion between Russian officials and the Trump campaign.

Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort accompanied Donald Trump Jr. to the Trump Tower meeting with Kremlin-linked lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Junior says bring it on:
Oh yes, this is a GREAT idea!

Literally every time this smarmy POS opens his mouth he makes things even worse.

Must be a family trait.

I'm not so sure that Junior is as cavalier about all of this as he would like us to believe. Especially since he lawyered up almost immediately

Just to help things along MSNBC has put together an updated timeline:

  • June 7: The 2016 primary season essentially concludes, with both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as the presumptive party nominees
  • June 9: Donald Trump Jr. — along with Jared Kushner and former campaign chair Paul Manafort — meets with Kremlin-connected lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
  • June 9: Trump tweets about Clinton’s missing 33,000 emails
  • July 18: Washington Post reports, on the first day of the GOP convention, that the Trump campaign changed the Republican platform to ensure that it didn’t call for giving weapons to Ukraine to fight Russian and rebel forces
  • July 21: GOP convention concludes with Trump giving his speech accepting the Republican nomination
  • July 22: WikiLeaks releases stolen emails from the Democratic National Committee
  • July 25: Democratic convention begins
  • July 27: In final news conference of his 2016 campaign, Trump asks Russia: “If you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing”
  • August 4: Obama CIA Director John Brennan confronts his Russian counterpart about Russia’s interference. “[I] told him if you go down this road, it's going to have serious consequences, not only for the bilateral relationship, but for our ability to work with Russia on any issue, because it is an assault on our democracy,” Brennan said on “Meet the Press” yesterday.
  • October 4: WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange says his organization will publish emails related to the 2016 campaign
  • October 7: Department of Homeland Security and the Director of National Intelligence release a statement directly saying that Russia is interfering in the 2016 election
  • October 7: WikiLeaks begins releasing Clinton Campaign Chair John Podesta’s emails
  • October 31: “This WikiLeaks is like a treasure trove,” Trump says on the campaign trail
  • November 4: “Boy, I love reading those WikiLeaks,” Trump says from Ohio.
I swear the more pieces we find, the clearer the picture of collusion becomes.

Why do I get the feeling that Trump Jr. is about to add even more pieces to the puzzle?

Is the Senate Intelligence committee going to interview Rob Goldstone?
Natalia Veselnitskaya and Donald Trump Jr. had a meeting at Trump Tower in June 2016. Rob Goldstone claims he set up the meeting between the pair. Goldstone is an old associate of the Trumps from the Miss Universe days. How did he set up the meeting and why wouldn't he let the old business associates know details about Veselnitskaya's deep work and connection with the Kremlin?

This is what happens when you're a rich little boy born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you believe you're untouchable, fireproof, etc because in the money-worshiping United States all your life your money has been able to buy relief from having to follow the laws like ordinary people.

Trump Sr suffers from the same psychosis. None of the Trumps is educated or in any way smart, they're just rich. Their problem is going to be that some things cannot be bought- which is something they possibly cannot even comprehend, having purchased all of their 'achievements' without exception.

Every day there is more and more shit for the various investigators to plow their way through - and plow they will, rest assured... notice how quiet they are?

Hits back at NY Times saying there was 'no inconsistency' in his own statements
The New York Times first reported on the meeting Saturday between Veselnitskaya, Donald Trump Jr. Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort
It marked the first time Donald Trump Jr. was connected with such a meeting, which tied Trump campaign officials to figures tied to the Russian government

Double False Pretense and the Birth of an Intel Operation

...A visible framework is starting to emerge about how and why President Trump became entangled with Russian interests in his pursuit for the Oval Office. Sometimes in life we find ourselves in a place without understanding how we arrived. The President of the United States is a Russian spy, but where it all began has been elusive and difficult to ascertain...

... It appears that Don Jr's description of the Veselnitskaya meeting as a false pretense is more or less accurate, but superficial. It seems to be that there was a double false pretense at work. Veselnitskaya sought the meeting under the false pretense of having damaging information against Clinton, but the reason Veselnitskaya requested the meeting had nothing to do with international adoption policy. The false pretense given was itself bait to test the campaign's receptiveness to accepting collaborative assistance from the Russian government.

We base this on information we have gained, some recently but some over time. One particular datum that stands out, though it was not well understood at the time, relates to Kushner's ongoing problems with disclosures on his national security questionnaire. When omissions were reported in April there was a particular conversation that involved the President, Kushner, Priebus, Spicer, and a few others, during which the omissions story was discussed. The President asked Kushner whether he'd disclosed a meeting with "that lady lawyer," to which Kushner responded in the affirmative. Offhandedly Reince asked what the meeting was about which prompted the President to ask Kushner, with theatrical flair, for a reminder of what the meeting had been. Kushner curtly mumbled "Adoption laws" as if he were trying to shut down the discussion. The President then expressed his feeling that this particular meeting should not have been disclosed and described it as a "loose end," which made Reince and Sean uneasy. Reince pointed out that all meetings had to be disclosed while Sean continued observing silently, probably contemplating what sins in a past life could have possibly landed him in this mess. Kushner, tinged with impatience and annoyance, commented that it was a safe disclosure because nobody would want to question an interest helping orphans. Afterward Kushner tried to explain away President Trump's comment as allegedly meaning that the President didn't feel the meeting should have to be disclosed, but Reince later explained that the President's meaning was clear.

The significance of this exchange is to highlight that this meeting was clearly sensitive and a cause for anxiety for the President and his most inner of circles. The fact that they wanted to keep the details of the meeting secret from Priebus and Spicer is a clear indication that the meeting was of an incriminating nature regarding the President's connections with Russian influence. While this conversation was nothing more than an unexplained oddity back in April, it takes on a new light as we learn how the meeting was convened.

This meeting with Veselnitskaya therefore seems to be the acorn from which the oak has grown.

...We believe that after this meeting with Veselnitskaya indirect communications began shortly thereafter. The exact nature of those communications remains a matter of family business, but we are increasingly convinced that there is no single factor to explain how and why President Trump became a Russian spy. The setting seems to have been incidentally set through years of business contacts and relationships. That lent avenues for contact, and possibly intelligence gathering by the Kremlin. When he became more outspokenly political during President Obama's term Russian interest probably was piqued and resulted in early intel gathering. By late 2015 Putin was likely open to the possibility of attempting to install candidate Trump, who may have become aware that he was "favored" by Putin through various channels. While some have speculated that direct financial pressure may have been leveraged somewhere along the way, we believe it is far more likely that flattery alone would have been sufficient to prime the pump. By June 2016 then candidate Trump was foolishly willing to accept overt assistance. Not only that but he probably believed that he could later use a threat of publicizing Russian assistance as his own blackmail leverage against Russian officials. (Remember, this is the person who first became politically outspoken as revenge for Obama refusing to accept bribes from him, whose earliest reason for running for President was as a weird proxy revenge against Obama, who has bragged ad nauseum about repeatedly bribing and blackmailing politicians as a business tactic, and who wasn't seriously seeking election until his ego took over and pressed the accelerator to the floor.) By willfully accepting Russian assistance the President sandwiched himself into a multifaceted vise where the greatest pressure comes from the conflicts in his own objectives.

Trump Jr. Was Told in Email of Russian Effort to Aid Campaign

WASHINGTON — Before arranging a meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer he believed would offer him compromising information about Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump Jr. was informed in an email that the material was part of a Russian government effort to aid his father’s candidacy, according to three people with knowledge of the email....

Was totally saddended, frustrated, and discouraged finding out that collision is NOT against the law - my husband didn't believe me but I had him back up the interviews on MSNBC and listen again - and both interviewees said the same thing - collision is NOT breaking any laws.

So when you add that to the fact that trump can just pardon his son and any one else if there is ever anything at all they can prove as being illegal no one will ever pay any consequences for this mess.

No wonder they are walking around with grins on their faces and not worrying about what they say - they can shout it from the roof tops and nothing can be done - they have free reign to gut our country, sell out our natural resources, purge our voter rolls, make the poor and middle class so deep in debt and poverty there is nothing left from exhuastion of just trying to get food that the public can't fight back and recover.

And pence will just pardon trump should the impossible happen and trump is found guilty of something (though so far nothing he's done is illegal for a president to do) - and we are stuck with pence any way - who will be able to get his agenda through because he will be supported by the extreme right conservatives and appears "sane" and he has an agenda.

At least trump's agenda is just getting rich and feeding his ego - and he can't unite congress to pass laws because he doesn't care about an agenda - pence on the other hand does care and is focused 100% on making America a christian nation and enslaving women.

Why didn't Jr collude/conspire with Americans for the campaign?

It's going to be more interesting when these people are before a public committee making statements about what was going on June of 2016. Trumpsters, be happy that The Big Kahuna has not been brought into Jr's foreign dealings at Trump Tower. He was innocently fundraising in another room. Only his campaign manager was checking his cell phone in the meeting when Jr met with the Russian lawyer.

      Delete
  26. Just like his Dad, Junior has stuck his foot in it and admitted he's a liar and a criminal.

"Campaign finance laws specifically prohibit political candidates and their associates from soliciting or receiving anything of value to benefit their campaign from foreigners. In addition, the law bans campaigns from providing “substantial assistance” to a non-citizen who is trying to improperly influence a U.S. election."

"In his public statements to The New York Times and on Twitter, Trump Jr. clearly stated that he met with Natalia Veselnitskaya, a lawyer for powerful Russian oligarchs, at Trump Tower in June 2016 because he wanted to acquire negative information about his father’s Democratic presidential rival."

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-jr-campaign-finance-laws_us_5963e731e4b09b587d6151c6?section=us_politics

And there you have it. Since Manafort and Kushner were there, they are also guilty. No way they didn't know what this meeting was about. Junior is hardly the brains of that trio.

"Campaign finance law defines “contribution” broadly. In this case, the opposition research would qualify as an illegal in-kind contribution. At least one past opinion issued by the FEC found that “information” could qualify as “something of value” that would make it an in-kind contribution."

Junior says they didn't get any useable information but this is coming from a proven LIAR. Rather a coincedence that Guccifer 2.0 and Wikileaks started dumping their hacks, isn't it?

"The ban on foreign campaign contributions also defines “solicitation” broadly. Both explicit and implicit suggestions from campaign officials that a foreign national provide something of value could be classified as solicitation. Even if he did not obtain the information as a contribution, as Trump Jr. has stated, he still sought it."

It's like a hitman offering to meet you about offing your spouse and you go to the meeting. The fact that you didn't ultimately hire him is moot. You're still guilty of solicitation to commit murder.

"The complaint was sent not just to the FEC but also to the Department of Justice and special counsel Robert Mueller. Mueller, the former FBI director, is leading the independent investigation into accusations that Russian intelligence services hacked the emails of the Democratic National Committee and Clinton campaign chief John Podesta, and that the Trump campaign was involved in the meddling."

"The Trump campaign and the White House have repeatedly denied any effort on the campaign’s behalf to contact or cooperate with Russian nationals in attempts to influence the outcome of the election. White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders reiterated this at Monday’s press briefing, saying, “The president’s campaign did not collude in any way.”

Later Monday, Trump Jr. announced he had hired Alan Futerfas as his lawyer. Futerfas is known for representing the Gambino, Genovese and Colombo crime families."

LOL. Junior hired himself a MOB LAWYER!
