A new book details a fight that it says led Donald Trump to oust Paul Manafort, who served as chairman and, for a time, manager of his presidential campaign.
The book, "Devil's Bargain" by Bloomberg Businessweek correspondent Joshua Green, was previewed in the Daily Mail on Monday.
According to the Daily Mail, the book says a New York Times article led to the fight that precipitated Manafort's removal from the Trump campaign.
The Times article noted that Trump's aides used TV appearances to get their messages across to him because they found that more effective than communicating face-to-face.
The day after the article's publication, apparently at the urging of Rebekah Mercer, a Republican donor who threw her weight behind Trump during the election, Trump reportedly called a meeting with his top staff at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club. The meeting, the Daily Mail said, included Manafort, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani of New York, former Fox News chief Roger Ailes, and Manafort's deputy Rick Gates.
When everybody was assembled, Trump reportedly shouted at Manafort, "How can anybody allow an article that says your campaign is all f----- up?"
"You think you've gotta go on TV to talk to me? You treat me like a baby!" Trump added, according to Green's account of the meeting quoted in the Daily Mail.
"Am I like a baby to you? I sit there like a little baby and watch TV and you talk to me? Am I a f------ baby, Paul?" Trump reportedly continued.
I think we all know the answer to that is "Yes."
According to the book the next Times article which revealed that Manafort had been paid millions by a pro-Russia Ukrainian political party sealed his fate.
Jared Kushner actually did the firing, but clearly Trump was humiliated by the first article and that was why Manafort had to be punished.
I have the feeling that this is only one example of the kind of turmoil that took place during the campaign, and now happens within the White House on a daily basis.
What male would refer to himself as a 'baby' - especially one in his 70's!!!??? I suspect Donald was called a 'baby' as a youngster, teenager and young adult. Perhaps his wives have called him that too!
ReplyDeleteThe 'term' or being 'thought of' in that regard truly appears to be very sensitive to him.
No one had to mention the term 'baby' to him - he brought it up himself.
He truly is a mental and emotional mess! It must be pure Hell serving in his cabinet/administration as well as being a member of his extended family.
Everyone is covering his ass as to his mental capacity, idiocy and health issues.
IMPEACH, IMPEACH, IMPEACH!
I've heard Manafort has been flipped by the FBI. If this meeting happened as described, I would think it gave Manafort plenty of motivation for payback. Manafort is in deep Russian doo doo himself, and staying out of prison, or at least reducing his sentence would be further impetus to sing.
ReplyDeleteAgree. He was at that meeting, yet you see only Junior and Kushner mentioned now.
DeleteManafort isn't stupid. If they offered him a deal he took it. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he had his lawyer contract the FBI and offer it to them first. That way he could negotiate the terms.
Trump is a pathetic fool.A legend in his own head. Bless the " fucking baby".I wish him all the that he deserves!!!#
ReplyDeleteThe trumps are the worst!
8th person at Jr.'s Russia meeting:

In March, Trump fired NY US Attorney who was about to prosecute Russian money laundering. Justice Dept. settled that case out of court for about $6 million . Russian Atty. who was present at Trump Jr.'s meeting crowed on Facebook about how the settlement was the beginning of the end of the cold war. In 2006 or 8, Trump Jr. bragged about how the number of Russian investors in Trump business dealings was disproportionately large.
Money laundering? Dirty money? No problem, comrade, buy a Trump condo with your ill-gotten gains.
You need money laundered? Call me, I good money cleaner.

ReplyDeleteThat makes EIGHT now.
Does anyone really believe Trump had no knowledge of this meeting?
I'll bet he was in on it by conference call or internet. That whole building is wired.
And, President Obama was 'listening'! Haha! (refer to above last paragraph - 12:42 PM comment)
DeleteThe next revelation?? Putin attended the meeting via tele-conference -- they had him on the speakerphone!!!!
DeleteA bit off topic, but I saw the words Devil's Bargain. The 1945 film classic , The Picture Of Dorian Gray. Dorian is played by Hurd Hatfield.
ReplyDeleteHurd and Kushner so closely look alike , and in this film Droian has his portrait painted and makes a pact with the devil that he, Dorian never age, but the painting will. He looks up to Lord Henry Walton, rich, hedonistic, evil, and wants to be just like him and live his life style. It is a classic horror movie, but watching this, all I could think about was Trump and Kushner. Kushner and Dorian Character , same face, same sly ,no expression, but up to no good look. and Lord Walton, Trump himself! The Dorian figure and soul in the painting ages, a rotting, grotesque
horror , Dorian's end. Look's like the real Kushner has surfaced. Also Ivanka, and Don Jr.Good riddance quickly! Throw in Trump! Many of you will remember this film.
Manafort are you a man or Trump's bitch? You are supposedly a grown ass man. Don't let that vagina grabber call you out like, that. Every bad or illegal thing Trump, Donald Jr, Jared or the campaign did, spill the beans. If you don't want your name tied to it, call a newspaper editor and make a confidential call. Don't be like Melania, speak up.
ReplyDelete"I sit there like a little baby and watch TV.."
ReplyDeleteWhy, yes. Yes, he does.
Him is a baby. I thought we all agreed to that him a big fat beebee.
ReplyDeleteSilly me-I thought Manafort was that performing white tiger that chewed a couple of sirloins off Sigmund and Freud in Las Vegas a few years ago. He's dead now, I think. The tiger that is.
ReplyDeleteot? RIGHT?

He is indeed a baby. Republicans love their corrupt baby-man President. He's just like them.

Deletemy best guess is, that whatever file drumpf jr. was promised, was handed over to kushner and he beat it out of the room as soon as he had his hands on it. and walked right into donny's office with it.
ReplyDeleteline up the time of the meeting with Jr. and the SS log of jarad walking in and meeting with donny drumpf...
OT GingRICH:"Gingrich said Trump is committed to sustaining "our clean air and our clean water.""We're all called to be stewards of the land," said Gingrich, the wife of Newt Gingrich, the former Republican House speaker and a close ally of Trump's."She was a congressional aide when she began a six-year affair with Newt Gingrich, then a married Republican congressman."

And yet they were able to pay their way into their marriage being accepted in the Catholic Church. It saddens me that even in the church, money is more important than basic morals. How can a whore like her be the ambassador to the Vatican?
DeleteI read on another site that this book was just released to try to deflect attention to something big about to be exposed. Sure enough, the very next day the story of Trump and Putin's meetings at the G20 summit broke. I can't understand why they don't think we are able to think about more than one thing at a time.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin has done that repeatedly, hasn't she? "Hey, council, look at my pushed up bosom and vote for what I want".
