While supposedly honoring military veterans Donald Trump instead attacks media while saying "I'm president, and they're not."

Courtesy of the New York Times:

President Trump used the first part of his holiday weekend getaway to issue more denunciations of the news media, using a celebration of American veterans and freedom at an evening rally to thunder that he would not allow the “fake” media to stop his agenda.

Speaking to raucous supporters at a faith rally at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington Saturday night, Mr. Trump brought the crowd to its feet by condemning news organizations.

“The fake media is trying to silence us,” Mr. Trump told the crowd at the concert hall, after returning to Washington briefly from his weekend getaway at his golf club in New Jersey. “But we will not let them. Because the people know the truth. The fake media tried to stop us from going to the White House. But I’m president and they’re not.”

"I'm president, and you're not." So incredibly juvenile.

Remember countries around the world are watching this, and learning something about America that we have been denying for decades.

That there is a large segment of the population who are easily manipulated, and who respond to authoritarian language containing any buzzwords about freedom, patriotism, or family and religious values, regardless of who spouts them.

That was how the Russians used social media to inspire support for Donald Trump, and turn voters against Hillary Clinton.

And it is how they, and others, will continue to manipulate us for many years to come.

That is unless we educate a whole lot of people, in a very limited period of time.

It's so transparent! Who cannot see through this??
After years of willingly submitting to the manipulation of Roger Ailes and his ilk, roughly half the people in this country have simply checked their brains at the door.

And, those Ailes conditioned people are the ones who can not see through this. For some reason they seem to like this horrid offensive man and their faith in him seems not to have wavered at all -- per the polls that constantly show that his supporters are hanging in with him. I don't understand it at all but it scares me and keeps me awake at night.

Our educational system has been on a downslide since the late 70's. Rather than blaming Fox News you can blame America, dumbing down her populace for 40 years until now, we are at the bottom of the civilized world and showing no signs of heading back up.

Trump is but a symptom of a dumbed-down country on its way to second-world status. Glad I don't have children because no way would I raise them here.

His staff in The White House, his dopey family, his warped based and all of the fools in Congress can continue to support him - the fact is this man is totally and completely sick.
I left a note with Malia lamenting the fact all we had to worry about with Bush was where he might start another war.

Trump appears to be considerably worse that President Bush ever thought of being!

He'll likely start WWIII that will include our country being bombed, etc. Then they'll hide Trump and his ilk underground and they'll come 'up' when our country has been obliterated! He won't have a thing to lead or control and I suspect they will all die once they breath the rancid air covering America!

Tourism in the US is on its knees, it's only a matter of time until it's declared dead.

Same for other forms of foreign investment- who's going to want to buy anything built by the sub-humans they see on the evening news?

And who is going to trust the US economy under Trump? Markets and manufacturing want stability and they'll go where they find it.

Trump in the Oval Office is bad for America but very, very good for Trump business.

Trump is an abominable case of emotionally arrested development. We now have an amoral impulsive bullying infant in a position of great power. The damage this POS and his minions are doing will take years to reverse.
The Republicans in Congress by and large just stand by and let him be the ego maniacal 1-year-old he really is.

I was watching MSNBC last night when they interrupted their programming to show the Donald live at this event.

Yes, his taunting of the media was appalling. But what I found worse was the way he whipped the crowd up into a frenzy over America's God. Apparently this is an evangelical Christian god. And Trump claims to believe in it. And "freedom of religion" is the right for every kid to be indoctrinated. There didn't seem to be room for non-Christian religions or those who would choose to avoid religion altogether. Lots of allusions to climbing mountains and other dog-whistle words too.

If Trump is a "true believer" I guess he must be counting on the forgiveness thing, for he sure doesn't walk the talk.

The asshole has 'never' led a Christian life style. Shit, he came out and said to the world that he has never 'asked for forgiveness'! Remember the media covering that?

Networks never interrupted programs to show President Obama giving a speech. MSNBC must be playing it cool right now to assuage Trump's vitriolic hatred of the media. That lets him win.

This was nothing more than a photo op Trump and his ilk put together. Friggin' disgusting. He so forgets the majority did not support him to include these folks!

Your post didn't include the fact that he flew to his club in new jersey Friday, flew back to dc for this crap, then back to jersey. So how much did it cost us for him to fly back and forth twice? And I'm offended that this was held at the kennedy center. JFK had to fight against claims he would follow the Pope instead of the Constitution. And as a retired veteran, I don't understand veterans support for this fraud. The guy who k owed better than the Generals how to defeat ISIS. Knows more about the military than those serving because he went to a military prep school I. High school. Who insulted not just John McCain but all POWs including eight captured in Vietnam who received the Medal of Honor. Who sayed avoidi g the clap in the 70's was his personal Vietnam. Who had to b shamed into making the donations to veterans groups that he promised. I'm betting that a lot of them voted for him because he wasn't a woman.

And this is how terrorist are recruited. Don is using the same tactic. Divide and put a wedge in between our veterans and America. Put a wedge in between fox and all other media viewers. Trump is mentally ill and must be removed now.

This is T's world. He is trying to build his dysfunctional bace asap. The good guys, with the money, sharp self serving pencils, slow minds, the strong arm of the law, dirty energy, drug companies, and the war profit machine.

T is having fun. He is great at this game, with many team members from past fail-yours. T is not pulling the strings, but a bully puppet no the less.

This sour winner is not going down with out a fight. One that this country has never experienced before. Targeted fake news that controls the mass voters. The race is on. To save or destroy the democratic system is the question at hand.

I once saw a documentary on the human mind. Once it believes in something, even if concrete evidence is presented, the mind will deny it to even to it's demise. Happening to Trump supporters. History will tell. Hope we aren't casualties. I worry about my children. Want to tell them not to procreate in a soon to be fascist world. But that wouldn't be a realistic solution.

T is headed to a padded cell with a white coat one. Not one for formals and such, but for violent adults that have mental break downs as there reality comes crashing down. I've seen this happen before. I had a hi school friend that wanted to be so powerful that he could blow up the world with a push of a button. He was found doing push ups in the middle of a hi way blocking traffic. He lost it when he realize he was not going to be a millionaire in his 20's. He spent time in a padded cell like many of the other problem kids at risk that I would interact with. Americans are kept in the dark about the normal kids with mental issues walking about. These kids are after any kind of power they can get. T feeds his bace egos with unruly power. THis in turn feeds T.

THis is similar to a teen age pissing contest. Were the Alfa male is often the group leader because he is the bully of the group. KInd of like American football, were the baddest dog on the field has the most respect off the field. No one wants to piss off big T, or they might miss the party.

Trump is really a "Johnnie-One-Note," isn't he? Every speech he gives begins with a grandiose description of how big his electoral "landslide" was, then he attacks the media, then he moves onto his pet peeve for the day. I simply cannot fathom, why, on July 2, he chose to raise the specter of the GOP "war on Christmas" to a largely military audience, but who knows maybe he was channeling his inner Sarah Palin. He grows loonier by the minute.

It is especially embarrassing that the latest event took place at the Kennedy Center for the Arts, a venue that has welcomed so many of the very best and brightest of this country and the world. And remember that President Kennedy made the 20th century's best case for separation of church and state when, in 1960, he brilliantly addressed Protestant fears of having a Catholic president.

But wait, Trump will say he didn't take their healthcare away, it was Congress. It is always somebody else's fault, never his fault. Remember trump did say the healthcare as it stands is too mean even though he ran on repealing ObamaCare.

You are correct about Trump's blame shifting. The twist with Trump and others like him is if it makes them look good they will take credit then lie the same thing was someone else's fault if that manipulates approval. Also in private they may give you credit then lie to others stealing credit to impress people.

There had better be a God to help you if you dare assert fact and individual accountability (honesty and boundaries) because these sickos project you lie and make things up, are against them and run a smear campaign.

Think about it: consistently Trump says one thing, has his staff state contradictions etc. consistently Trump broadcasts the media and others are liars, crazy, stupid. This is textbook abuser and pathological behavior.
