CNN dumps longtime Trump supporting commentator for tweeting Nazi salute.

Courtesy of CNN:

CNN severed ties with Jeffrey Lord on Thursday, hours after he ignited controversy by tweeting the words "Sieg Heil!" at a prominent liberal activist.

"Nazi salutes are indefensible," a CNN spokesperson said in a statement. "Jeffrey Lord is no longer with the network."

Lord said his tweet was misunderstood. He said he was mocking fascists, not acting like one.

"I love CNN, but I feel they are caving to bullies here," he said in a telephone interview shortly after the network's decision was announced.

Lord said his contract was set to expire at the end of the year. He said he greatly respected CNN management despite disagreeing with the decision.

There's somebody hoping to get rehired at some point.

You know to be honest I am a little torn on this topic.

On the one hand it really does appear that Lord was being ironic by tweeting that out, but on the other hand CNN should really be finding any reason available for cleaning out all of the Trump supporters they decided to hire during the campaign and after the election.

I assume they believed it would make them seem balanced, but unless they were looking to establish some balance between sane and insane, or reality vs fantasy, I am not at all convinced they achieved anything except to damage their journalistic credibility.

These people are sycophants and they contribute nothing except pro-Trump propaganda and public displays of ass kissing.

  1. I am very glad he is gone. His babbling nonsense was annoying to listen to and contributed nothing substantial to any conversation.

I cannot believe the little albino fucker thinks his 1st Amendment rights were violated. If I said that shit and my employer found out about it I'd be fired too.

    1. It doesn't matter what he thinks, his 1st amendment rights weren't violated. The government took no action against him. He can tweet or say anything he wants. His private employer can fire him and it has nothing to do with his 1st amendment rights.

Jeesh, leave out the Albino insults, Anonymous. Genetics are not fair game. And I say that even after I was bitten hard by an Albino girl when we were in preschool.

CNN worries me with their attempt to present both sides.

      Would Cronkite do it?

Well he did for a long time, but when he came out against the futile war in VN, he swayed lots of opinions.

      I miss Cronkite.

Until viewers learn how to recognize "media whores", $tupid will reign among us.

I am all in for the 1st Amendment, but if you say it on any media platform, I think you should have to prove it. Because there's a huge difference and a thin line between informing and agitating.

    Interesting times.

  11. He was basically calling Carusone a "spelling nazi", but that's no excuse. Yes, Lord was calling them and Carusone in particular Fascists but as in all right wing nutjob actions, he is accusing others of what he in essence is.

I don't blame Carusone for being sensitive about how his name is spelled. I think he responded appropriately.

    Lord, however, did not.

    Good riddance.

True story: My beloved dad, a WWII veteran, has advanced dementia. Most of what he remembers are the songs (all the lyrics) and sights of the 1940s. And apparently a joke at that time was "Sieg Heil, in case we lose" I just hope the wrong person doesn't hear him stating that when we take him out of the house.

Looks like the RWNJs are main-lining the Desousa line about the left leaning/progressive believers are the new Nazis.
All week that ass has been hawking his new book which is trying to make Democrats and progressives the fascists of the 21st century. I use to think most people are smart enough to figure out this is only projection from republicants, but after Trump got elected I worry non-insane people might start believing this lie.

I always thought Lord arguing on CNN was pointless so always turn the channel when he was on. In fact I tweeted to Anderson that he might get more viewers if Lord was off and they interview more actual officials (like MSNBC does) rather than outright Trump apologists.
