Secret Service vacates Trump Tower over dispute about cost.

Courtesy of WaPo:

The Secret Service has vacated its command post inside Trump Tower in Manhattan following a dispute between the government and President Trump’s company over the terms of a lease for the space, according to two people familiar with the discussions.

Previously, the Secret Service had stationed its command post — which houses supervisors and backup agents on standby in case of an emergency — in a Trump Tower unit one floor below the president’s apartment.

But in early July, the post was relocated to a trailer on the sidewalk, more than 50 floors below, a distance that some security experts worry could hamper the agency that protects the president’s home and family.

The command post appears unlikely to move anytime soon back inside Trump Tower, where the president and his family have rarely gone since moving to the White House.

On Thursday, a spokeswoman for the Trump Organization said the government should seek space in another location.

Apparently the brouhaha is over the fact that the Trump folks are charging the taxpayers too goddamn much for the space.

And good for them for standing up for the American taxpayer.

Remember we have already learned that it costs in excess of $300,000 a day to protect this building.

Personally I would not pay fifty cents toward the protection of Cheeto Hitler and his family.

As far as I'm concerned if the Trump Organization cannot make a better deal on the rent, then Donald Trump can pay private contractors to protect his family and employees.

Everyone in Congress is really stressed about the pee tape.

...Republican House Intelligence Committee staffers went to London earlier in the summer to leave calling cards for Steele. According to Politico, Republicans did not tell Democrats on the House committee, the Senate Intelligence Committee, or Robert Mueller about the trip. Apparently, everyone is paranoid about what may or may not be happening around the dossier:

Trump’s increasing isolation: ‘He doesn’t resemble the party’

President Trump’s marriage to leaders of the Republican Party began as one of convenience, not love.

It’s starting to get a lot more inconvenient.

The fractures in the GOP from 2016 — largely papered over following Trump’s surprising November victory — are reopening, creating an extraordinary circumstance. The gap between a sitting president and the mainstream of his own party is becoming a chasm.

Trump increasingly appears isolated, unable to rally allies to his legislative agenda. Republican senators, meanwhile, feel increasingly free to openly ignore him, unafraid of political repercussions as they dismiss his pleas to reopen the disastrous health care debate or change decades-old rules of their chamber.

They criticize his demeanor, his tweets, his frequent obfuscations and unfounded claims. They rallied to defend their former colleague, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, from Trump’s truculent public statements against him. And they just forced on him a bill that curtails Trump’s executive power to lift sanctions on Russia, as he has hinted he might do.

There was a tense if polite GOP honeymoon period after the election, when party regulars thought winning the White House would be a salve for a GOP that was shaken by Trump’s unexpected rise and the divisive 2016 campaign.

But Republicans are failing, six months into Trump’s tenure, to deliver on their promise of a functioning government that could make conservatives’ long-deferred dreams real. And Trump has shown little desire to temper his erratic impulses. The result is a party that increasingly seems unmoored and ineffective, unable to coalesce around a central vision.

It was supposed to be "American Dream Week." Sarah Huckabee Sanders even dug up a cloying anecdote about "Frank" — the enterprising 10-year-old who'd written to ask if he could mow the White House lawn — to mark the occasion. But like "Infrastructure Week," "Technology Week" and the rest of the Trump Administration's inept efforts to redirect attention away from its many scandals and humiliations, "American Dream Week" went down in flames. Not even a four-star general, newly-installed in the West Wing, could salvage it.

In case you missed it, here's WTF happened over the last five days – or, as we're calling it, National Nightmare Week, part 28 of an ongoing series.

There’s no such thing as a Trump Democrat

But new data, and an analysis by AFL-CIO political director Michael Podhorzer that he shared with me, puts all this into question. The number of Obama-to-Trump voters turns out to be smaller than thought. And those Obama voters who did switch to Trump were largely Republican voters to start with. The aberration wasn’t their votes for Trump but their votes for Obama.

That Wash. Post column made my afternoon yesterday! I'm so tired of being told by the pundits that I should feel guilty about poor white people, mostly men, and especially coal miners (?) who rejected the Democratic Party in 2016. I don't feel a bit of guilt about people who consistently vote against their best economic (and moral) interests in order to ape the rich and to be a little bit more cruel to minorities. They always vote for Republicans whether they admit to being Republican or not.

Hey, Barack O’Birthday! Here’s To 56 More Years Of Having Bigger Hands Than Donald Trump!

Happy 56th birthday, Barack Obama! You are sexxxy and kind and wonderful and still the president of our hearts and our pants! Know why? Fuck Trump. We will never acknowledge his hairy stinky birthday. But yours? ALWAYS.

So … what should we do for Obama’s birthday? Ooh, we know! Let’s make a list of things about Obama that are bigger/yooger/sexxxier/more tremendous than whatever floppy little Beanie Weenie Donald Trump’s packin’:

    His hands.
    His heart.
    His brain.
    His number of degrees.
    His number of accomplishments.
His sperm count we are just guessing.
    His number of presidential accomplishments.
His approval rating at pretty much any given time during his presidency. (Guess who never sunk into the 30s, not ever?)
    His first Electoral College win.
    His second Electoral College win.
    His popular vote in 2008.
    His popular vote in 2012.
The number of world leaders who DO NOT fall over in giggle-fits when they hear his name, unless they are recalling the most hilarious joke he ever told, in which case laughing is OK.
His Big D we are just guessing.
Balls too we are just guessing.
Hell, the entire Obama Down Theres.
Did we already say his hands?
We should say his hands several times, because President Thin-Skin is really sensitive about his hands, which are like crusty, heinous mini-baby paws compared to Obama’s.
    His biceps.
    His wife’s biceps.
    His class.
    His elegance.
Did we say his Big D already? Haha of course we did.
    His self-confidence.
His ability to climb stairs without crying and falling down go boom.
The number of people in America who would piss on him if he was on fire.
    His vocabulary.
    His handsomeness.
The number of people in America who would enjoy making intercourse with him.
And finally, once again, his hands, in case we haven’t said that enough.
So anyway, Bamz. Have a good birthday! It’s your day, so do what you want! Have sexxxytime with Michelle! Eat some steak! Go out on a yacht with one of your mega-rich pals! Take your pants off! Sneak over to the White House and give literally any person there a shiny new quarter in exchange for changing the locks while President Fuck-Bonkers is off puss-grabbing in New Jersey! GO NUTS!

Trump’s Base of Support Is Collapsing
The president never had a proper mandate, but the resistance is no longer a voice of opposition. It now speaks for the great American majority.

The math was always against him, but whatever claim on legitimacy Donald Trump might have been able to make after the November 8 election has since evaporated. The numbers are now overwhelming.

“If they ban us from YouTube, that’s when Trump will be killed, there’s no question about it,” Cernovich said. “They’re going to kill us, they’re going to kill him, they’re going to kill everybody.”

In recent months, the Infowars host and other conspiratorial right-wingers have been predicting a second civil war between conservatives and liberals. Jones and Cernovich alleged they were being censored by YouTube and Google and talked about planning protests against tech giants, including one at Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg's house.

“Folks, they are going to blow the president’s head off, they are going to bomb him,” Jones said. “They are getting ready.”

  21. Good for them.

Not that New Yorkers need a big honkin' trailer on the street to remind them of Trump's excesses.

Trump should have cut them a deal on the rent, not hiked it 5X market. But we all knew he was in it for the money.

He's bankrupting the Secret Service budget. I'm sure he treats them abominably and they witness his unpresidential behavior toward others. Comey's firing probably didn't sit well with them either.
