Courtesy of the New York Times:
In a series of tweets this month, Mr. Trump criticized Mr. McConnell publicly, and berated him in a phone call that quickly devolved into a profane shouting match.
During the call, which Mr. Trump initiated on Aug. 9 from his New Jersey golf club, the president accused Mr. McConnell of bungling the health care issue. He was even more animated about what he intimated was the Senate leader’s refusal to protect him from investigations of Russian interference in the 2016 election, according to Republicans briefed on the conversation.
(Wait, what? Trump expected McConnell to protect him from the Russia investigations? Okay seriously, how is that not considered obstruction?)
Mr. McConnell has fumed over Mr. Trump’s regular threats against fellow Republicans and criticism of Senate rules, and questioned Mr. Trump’s understanding of the presidency in a public speech. Mr. McConnell has made sharper comments in private, describing Mr. Trump as entirely unwilling to learn the basics of governing.
In offhand remarks, Mr. McConnell has expressed a sense of bewilderment about where Mr. Trump’s presidency may be headed, and has mused about whether Mr. Trump will be in a position to lead the Republican Party into next year’s elections and beyond, according to people who have spoken to him directly.
So I guess at this point we can assume that McConnell's invitation to the White House pajama party has been revoked, right?
Of course this fight has been brewing almost since the moment that Trump took office, with his attitude toward McConnell careening back and forth between saccharine sweet to outright hostile.
Now we have Trump actively supporting primary challenges to Senators that he feels are disloyal, as if he were the living embodiment of the Tea Party that has caused so many headaches for McConnell in the past.
For his part McConnell had this shot delivered over Trump's bow:
But Mr. McConnell’s allies warn that the president should be wary of doing anything that could jeopardize the Senate Republican majority.
“The quickest way for him to get impeached is for Trump to knock off Jeff Flake and Dean Heller and be faced with a Democrat-led Senate,” said Billy Piper, a lobbyist and former McConnell chief of staff.
Yeah, you know that came from Yertle the Turtle himself.
I think this is only the beginning of the ugliness to come.
More popcorn anyone?
Makes it unlikely they can move "Trump agenda" on the Hill. Only these boobs could bungle a giant tax cut! The Trump presidency is a giant failure so far. Thank God. Looks like that will continue. Only that 36% with MAGA hats squeezed over their pea brains can fail to get what a loser Trump is.
ReplyDeleteLet's go 64 %!
Well, it was supposed to be tax reform.
DeleteNow it looks like it will be nothing but a tax cut.
That will piss off some Republicans. Add them to all of the Democrats who will vote NO and there goes another Trump failure.
McConnell is unlikely to do anything at the urging of Trump. If McConnell doesn't want it it's not going to get done. If Trump doesn't like it, likely they'll have enough votes to override his veto so he'll be force to sign it like he did with the sanctions bill.

DeleteTrump has a split personality (one day a nice speech and the next a horrid one!) and sorely needs to be impeached. He is a detriment to our country and is pure evil!
ReplyDeleteWe’ve already heard it’s about health care. Turns out there’s a Russia angle too. But a juicy new report from the New York Times’s Alex Burns and Jonathan Martin suggests there’s another, familiar reason for Trump’s irritation: the Russia scandal, and specifically, McConnell’s failure to protect him from investigations into it.

DeleteSay Donald Trump three times in a row and a pile of shit appears.
ReplyDeletePresident Cheeto has a new name since we are 9 weeks from Halloween..... The Great Trumpkin.
ReplyDeleteAnother day, another tantrum from the Trump child. He is shaking his rattle furiously and it isn't getting him what he wants. I expect it will only get worse. The cretins in this country have elected an incorrigible child.
ReplyDeleteHe's making Kim Jon Un seem mature. Who would have thought. Hahaha. Shrug.
DeleteMost Trump supporters look like trailer trash bursting at the seams. I have always perceived them to be stupid. obese, dumb, hateful, and sloppy. Forgive me. I stereotype. Some of them have IQs over 60 and obesity knows no political boundaries. It is, however, disconcerting to view folks who have big fat heads but intellects the size of peas. Why can't they do those wonderful jobs in the fields that they claim minorities are taking away from them. In their brain addled world it's the billion dollar corporations who are trying desperately to help them. Why don't they dive into crop picking and make a mark as sturdy American 'can-doers'? Isn't that the 'pulling yourself up by the bootstrap' thing these people trumpet?
ReplyDeleteIt says something about McConnell that he EVER thought Trump could learn anything or in any way be motivated to behave presidential.
ReplyDeleteTrump needs to be "un-presidented".
It's being painted a nothing in many media outlets. 'Everything is fine'. This is how we got this abomination.
ReplyDeleteWatching trump for the last 18 months has been a true awakening. Nobody would vote for that. Majority did not vote for that. He is in our life because he lied, cheated and stole the election. He is a fraud and rigger that must be told the truth. Resign.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the country is gerrymandered in the current fashion then we will continue to see more Trumps; idiots who can't garner the popular vote but are able to sweep the electoral college.
DeleteIt was obvious the people at the legal defense fund raiser for trump foundation are paid dopes. They were even laughing and shrugging shoulders, shaking heads. Trump is pathetic and a awful excuse of human.
ReplyDeleteAs was said. Trump does not have a soul he has a sore. An inflamed sore instead of a soul.

ReplyDelete"“Those are the three states where a total of seventy-seven thousand votes swung the election from Clinton to Trump,” Olbermann reminded. “Where today he has approval from just over one-third of registered voters.”
K.O. 't'ire fire 't'HIS last week! Bern.
Has donnie threatened to fire turtle head's wife if he doesn't do what he wants?
ReplyDeleteWonder if Congress is going to let him have his Wall even if it means shutting down Government?
ReplyDeleteIf Trump is pissed off now, just wait 'til they smack him down on his ridiculous wall.
Sweet justice for the idiot "potus".
Unfortunately, he has the nuclear codes, and there is nothing Congress can do - unless they impeach him NOW or somehow declare the election null and void (which will happen after hell has frozen over a dozen times, IOW, NEVER...)
ReplyDeleteIts should be rendered null and void. If we then appropriate the millions used to protect 45s family and pay for their vacays, we can do a redo election. No 2 year process, no campaigning, what a fucking waste of money. Hold it on a weekend like normal countries and vote in a human again.
Delete"I think the single greatest threat, and I’ll say to humanity, at the moment is male fragility, and men just not being able to process their feelings of insecurity, their feelings of anger. I mean, when men get mad, they lash out.
ReplyDeleteYou see it in school shootings. You see it in terrorist activity."<salon

Forgive my humor, but channeling South Park here...
ReplyDeleteIs Token Black who is in the background of Drumpfs rallies the SAME Toke Black each time? Getting paid bigly to embarrass himself. Anyone have time or energy to track this?
I think McConnell was pretty pissed at Trump for subjecting his wife to that insane impromptu press briefing last Tuesday in the lobby of Trump Tower. You know, the one that was supposed to be about infrastructure but he instead pulled the white sheet from over his head and showed the rest of the world who he really IS. Her lips were pathetically stretched across her teeth and she looked like Body Snatchers had gotten to her while no one was looking. What husband wouldn't be furious with another man assaulting his wife?
ReplyDeleteCheck out YouTube. Black Dude is a self-proclaimed Black Supremacist. He appears to occupy another dimension.
ReplyDeleteYep same guy!
ROFL THAT PICTURE!! Trump looks like he doesn't know where he is, AS USUAL, and Mitch has the fakest, pasted-on smile I've ever seen. ...And the look of sheer terror in his eyes! WTF?
