Donald Trump is now at that point in the Russia investigations where it is time to discredit former FBI Director James Comey.

Courtesy of WSJ:

Lawyers for Donald Trump have met several times with special counsel Robert Mueller in recent months and submitted memos arguing that the president didn’t obstruct justice by firing former FBI chief James Comey and calling into question Mr. Comey’s reliability as a potential witness, people familiar with the matter said.

The legal arguments and meetings offer the first detailed look at the interplay between the wide-ranging investigation and the team that is representing the president since the special counsel was appointed by the Justice Department on May 17.

One memo submitted to Mr. Mueller by the president’s legal team in June laid out the case that Mr. Trump has the inherent authority under the constitution to hire and fire as he sees fit and therefore didn’t obstruct justice when he fired Mr. Comey as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in May, these people said.

Another memo submitted the same month outlined why Mr. Comey would make an unsuitable witness, calling him prone to exaggeration, unreliable in congressional testimony and the source of leaks to the news media, these people said.

This was only the first salvo. But it was unlikely that Robert Mueller, who knows James Comey quite well, was going to buy into the idea that he is "prone to exaggeration."

So it was quickly followed by this, courtesy of CNN:

Former FBI Director James Comey drafted a statement exonerating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for running her government emails through a private email server before completing the investigation, according to two Republican senators.

Comey prepared the draft exoneration for Clinton before conducting interviews with top Clinton aides who were offered immunity for their cooperation, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley and Sen. Lindsey Graham said Thursday in a joint statement, citing transcripts of interviews with former Comey aides obtained by the Senate judiciary committee.

Comey would go on to announce in July 2016 that the FBI would not recommend charges against Clinton -- although he sharply chastised her decision to conduct State Department business through a private email server.

"Conclusion first, fact-gathering second -- that's no way to run an investigation. The FBI should be held to a higher standard than that, especially in a matter of such great public interest and controversy," Grassley and Graham wrote in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray seeking more information -- including all drafts of Comey's final statement on Clinton's emails by September 13.

Senator Chuck Grassley? Now why does that name seem rife with irony?
Oh yeah, that's right.

Just to prove all of this is being orchestrated by Trump he went ahead and all but signed his name to it.
Oh yeah, he just heard about this. It's not like he is manipulating things behind the scenes or anything.

My personal feeling is that James Comey realized early on that nothing Hillary did was really illegal and so being the paperwork geek that he is he simply prepared that draft ahead of time.

However let's also remember that it was only a draft, which means it was not the final document, and the final document, along with that last minute reopening of the case based on "evidence" in Weiner's laptop, REALLY fucked up Hillary's chances of winning the election.

This is also a ridiculous toothless attack on Comey's character, which means that Trump is flat terrified of what he will say to Mueller.

So damn, I can hardly wait to hear it.

P.S. According to the New York Times Mueller has a letter written by Donald Trump concerning his reasons for firing James Comey, that his lawyers stopped him from sending. So before Trump attempts to discredit Comey with an early draft of his letter, he might take a moment to worry about what HIS letter reveals.

Trumps mouthpieces sending Mueller their excuse for Trump firing Comey is laughable. Technology gave us Trumps real reason in his own voice. "To relieve pressure on him (Trump) caused by the Russia investigation". Folks, that is game, set and obstruction of justice.

‘Why did we elect such a president?’: Russian state TV mocks Trump for being Putin’s ‘baby’

“US doesn’t have an adequate President, just an elderly, barely competent, nervously weary, fussy showman,” Davis tweeted, translating the broadcast from Russian.

“So why did we elect such a President?” the host replied, to audience applause.

“Trump is a political infant, who is being severely swaddled,” the host continued, to which a female host replied, “and placed into geopolitical coffin.”

    1. Why would they do it?

Because they were fooled just like everyone else into believing this charlatan was going to give them everything they wanted. I truly don't believe the Russians fully understand our government and political system or the constitution or how Congress works. Trump sold them a bill of goods just like everyone else. I don't think they realized they were swindled until Congress passed the law about the sanctions tying Trump's hands to rescind them. That's when it hit the fan in the Kremlin and they decided to dump the orange clown with the big anus mouth.

Now they are discrediting Trump because they know they have nothing to gain from him other than to disrupt our working government.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Russians decided to leak stuff to get Trump impeached. Just to fuck with him.

He's Putin's pal in the White House. Putin helped put him there. All of a sudden, Trump has realized that there might be a problem in allowing an unfriendly foreign government meddle in a US presidential election or, for that matter, in any US election.

Kid fucking Rock, just some dirt bag from Detroit who thinks that making terrible music for rednecks makes him qualified to run for office.

Go away Kid Rock and get a life, we know your kind and we're done with you.

    2. Don't we already have a kid in the Oval Office? Why would we want another in the Senate?

And the Senate seat he's aiming at is currently filled by an extremely intelligent and competent person, Sen. Debbie Stabenow. She's done so much for Michigan's workers, farmers and for the Great Lakes. Kid Rock probably doesn't know where the Great Lakes are.

    4. Yes, Beaglemom, we are very fortunate in Michigan to have Debbie Stabenow representing us. We do not need another ignorant blowhard who thinks governing is a joke or a publicity stunt. If this Rock person is serious, he will start at the city or county level and learn just how hard serving your constituents is before deciding to run for a higher office.

Comey is a government buffer hired to tell the truth.
You have a so called President who wants to demean our CIA.

If you want a dictator than that's your problem. The CIA puts there butt on the line everyday. There loyalty is to America, you have no idea what these people sacrifice.

    http://www.rawstory.com/2017/09/during-golf-rainout-trump-stewed-indoors-and-decide-to-fire-james-comey/

" Donald F. McGahn II was “alarmed” that President Donald Trump decided to fire FBI Director James Comey after only consulting daughter Ivanka Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner and controversial political advisor Stephen Miller,
when rain prevented Trump from golfing at his private golf club in Bedminster, NJ.

“Instead Mr. Trump stewed indoors, worrying about Mr. Comey and the Russia investigation,” “Mr. Trump told him, according to senior administration officials, that he understood that firing the F.B.I. director might extend the Russia investigation, but he wanted to do it anyway.”

The bombshell report is based on “interviews with a dozen administration officials and others briefed on the matter.”

This is what bothers me the most, we have a President who's main focus right now should be Texas.

Get over your petty butt hurt Trump, there is a major disaster right here in America so we really don't care about your hurt little feelings or what you deem unfair ,or your paranoia. We don't really care about your "Wall" citizens of this country need that money to rebuild their homes and is the money for your stupid wall more important than Texas? The priority just changed you asshole.Your stupid wall that would have cost billions just for show not to mention land the Government would have to take from American citizens to build it.

We have an asshole for President and a whole lot of losers looking to blame somebody, anybody for why life is no longer like it was in the sixties. There is a rage out there and every cause needs a target to blame and Trump tapped into it.Here's an idea punish the company's that hire illegals. I am so sick of the same people that bitch about Mexicans hiring them! It starts here with us. In Arizona they bitch about illegals yet when they need lawn work or tile work done even if they know they go for the lowest price.

These are the same people bitching about illegals. You either stand behind your principles or shut the hell up and hire American workers at a higher price. The wall is a joke.

In Pheonix AZ. illegals stand on street coroners and people pull up and say " I need my house cleaned, here is what i will pay". or "I need my lawn done".

The point being, landlords, landscape businesses, farmers and regular citizens have all beniffited from the cheap labor.

Oh, Trump and the third wife are going to make another visit to Texas, this time with rain boots on and he's pledged other people's money to help in the clean up and he's declared that tomorrow is a "national day of prayer" so it's time to go back to riling his followers up about Hillary Clinton. He is a maniac - and, unfortunately for us, he's in charge.

"The stories Manigault would present to Trump, often on a phone or printed out, would often enrage the president, and resulted in him spending at least the rest of the day fuming about it. For example, one White House source noted that Manigault was one of the people who would bring to President Trump’s attention online articles concerning MSNBC hosts, and former Trump pals, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski “slagging him, and his administration.”
