She took aim at Sanders for “impugning” her character during the primary, which she believed ultimately helped Donald Trump win in the election.
“Because we agreed on so much, Bernie couldn’t make an argument against me in this area on policy, so he had to resort to innuendo and impugning my character,” she wrote. “When I finally challenged Bernie during a debate to name a single time I changed a position or a vote because of a financial contribution, he couldn’t come up with anything. Nonetheless, his attacks caused lasting damage, making it harder to unify progressives in the general election and paving the way for Trump’s ‘Crooked Hillary’ campaign.”
Clinton expressed appreciation for the Vermont Senator for campaigning for her during the general election, but she also expressed her frustration that he himself wasn’t a Democrat to begin with and accused him of not necessarily wanting a Democrat to win the White House.
Ouch!
That is not the only place in the book where Hillary takes a shot at Bernie and his supporters.
I KNOW this is really going to piss off the Bernie-bots, but Hillary is not wrong here.SWEET JESUS HILLARY HAS NO MERCY! God I love this. pic.twitter.com/FZomIui7t0— Adam (@itsAdamJSmith) September 4, 2017
I saw this myself during the 2016 election cycle, and it drove me fucking crazy.
The worst part in my opinion was that Trump would use information hacked by the Russians against Clinton, and then the Sanders supporters would spread it like manure all across social media.
This gave false information and conspiracy theories the kind of legitimacy among the progressives that they could never achieve while quarantined over on Right Wing new outlets and conservative talk radio programs.
THAT was why the Russian propaganda machine not only targeted Trump supporters but Bernie supporters as well.
Essentially Hillary has nothing to lose by speaking the truth and getting all of this off her chest. In fact it may turn out to be very beneficial moving forward to our next election cycle.
I have said it before but it bears repeating, the ONLY people who can confidently say they were not in some way manipulated by the Russians are those who voted for Hillary Clinton.
Because EVERYTHING they did was directed at keeping her out of the White House.
She won the popular vote. What kept her out of the whitehouse runs much deeper, yet much closer to home for those who object to the way the system worked out in 2016.
ReplyDeleteGerrymandering folks, it happened locally and in your states, right under you noses because you didn't bother to vote in any election that didn't include a POTUS.
Hillary Clinton would have made a far better POTUS than Donald Trump! No doubt about it!
ReplyDeleteShe got a raw deal! I can hardly wait to purchase her book and read it!
trump is not a president ! He is a hateful, racist Nazi in the our white house.

Not even worth a comparison. (No offense to the message.)
Bernie was in it for Bernie, nothing more. Wish the Bernie Bros would realize that.

ReplyDelete"published Tuesday by centrist think tank Third Way. The report, based on findings of online focus groups with voters who switched support from Barack Obama in 2012 to Donald Trump in 2016, as well as persuadable African American, Latino and millennial voters, urges Democrats to instead become “the jobs party.”"Its focus groups were composed of what it called “specific universes of battleground voters,” those who switched their vote from Obama to Trump, aged primarily between 30 and 64 and with household incomes below $100,000, and so-called Rising American Electorate voters. Third Way concedes that "these focus groups were not intended to mirror the entire electorate.” Still, it argues that, rather than “A Better Deal,” in order to counter the message of Trump, the Democrats should focus entirely on “Better Jobs.” Take Note.
Bern failed the registered independent party voters.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as an American "Independent Party."

Of course he did, idiot!
I voted for Hillary and lost a great friend . No regrets.
ReplyDeleteFuck Bernie !
Fuck trump always!
I voted for Hillary but nothing she says will change the fact that the orange orangutan is presently occupying the White House. And if Hillary were President now, the country would not be experiencing the mess that we see every day.
ReplyDeleteThe Democrats AND the Independents better "up" their game in 2018.
But what about Jill Stein, who was photographed at the same table as Michael Flynn when he visited Russia - what is her connection to Russia? I hope she is under investigation, too.
In the meantime, hopefully Robert Mueller and the congressional hearings will get enough dirt on Trump, Sessions, Donnie, Jr. Jill Stein, etc. to drive them out of Washington, D.C.
It's been a long 8 months, people.
Fuck Hillary. Bernie was our only shot at good change. Fuck this country. I'm out.

Of course Jill Stein was not a democrat, she ran for the Green Party, duh.
DeleteJust think, if Hillary had won the Electoral College, we would have an adult in the W.H.

DeleteDonald is a reflection of us, here in America. Whether we vote for him or not. Right now he's undoing and trying to obliterate all traces of Obama and Americans are whining and letting him. Just like the German citizens back in the thirties and forties. All because we have that victim mentality and we'd like someone to pay for our sins. That be Dreamers, transgenders, etc. The list won't end. Someone will pay and alleviate our sad sack mentality. Happened before, happening again.
ReplyDeleteHillary couldn't beat Donald Trump. DONALD EFFING TRUMP, people. Don't blame it on Bernie. She lost this on her own. Should have been a walk in the park.
ReplyDeleteOf course you're forgetting that she won the popular vote substantially and, because there were no recounts, she likely lost the electoral vote because of tampering with the vote tallies.
DeleteBeaglemom
Not forgetting any of that. Democrats just put up the wrong candidate. And if what you say caused her not to win, how is that Bernie's fault?
DeleteShe did NOT lose. There are bags of uncounted 'provisional ballots' in Michigan that Snyder ordered closed. They came from machines in Detroit that broke down. Amazing how he 'won' Michigan by 40,000 votes, isn;t it, and our recount was stopped? So was the count in WI and PA. Unless every vote was counted, Trumo is illegitimate. Now and always.
DeleteOh, uh, don't get amnesia now. Russia still has to be held accountable for giving us this shitty mess in the White House. Someone's been painting our roses red, and heads will roll!
DeleteExactly right LibraryMark. She lost to the worst person in the world because she was the worst candidate in the world. And she STILL doesn't have the decency to own that - and go away and stop distracting us from trying to save the country from the monster she could not beat. Now she's criticizing Joe Biden. Leave us alone Hillary. Please.
DeleteBecause if Bernie hadn't run against her and if Bernie hadn't said anything about her and Wall St. she would have won.
ReplyDeleteAnd magic unicorns would fart cotton candy.
Like no one in the Trump campaign would have mentioned this if Bernie hadn't? They were clueless except for him pointing it out?
I mean, really? Nothing Trump said was as damaging as Bernie hammering Clinton on Wall St during the primaries WHICH SHE WON? Well, if that was enough to take her down, I guess nothing that Trump said would do any damage, right? And since she could count on all those Obama voters to vote for her, no need to campaign in Wisconsin or Michigan or Pennsylvania, right? No need to even do any polling. It was int the bag. Pay no attention to the Democratic party people on the ground in the those states. What do they know? Micheal Moore? What does *he* know? I mean, she was the PERFECT candidate. No, problems. Nope, those missing e-mails were no problem. Benghazi was all said and done and forgotten. None of that was a problem.
But some old geezer pointing out the truth about some Wall St. speeches and heaven's to Betsy, it's ALL HIS FAULT.
Now I'd like to see the parts of the book where Hillary admits to mistakes she made. Because if there aren't any then this Bernie Blaming is all Bullshit. (BTW there are many post election analyses that point out the reasons for the loss and none of them mention Sander's Wall St. attacks during the primaries.)
And no, I am not a Russian agent. I just haven't drunk any koolaid, sniffed any panties or licked any boots.
She was a flawed candidate. Granted she was the best we had but hardly perfect. And it was those imperfections Trump hammered on, coupled with Republican gerrymandering, voter suppression, the Russian fake news and JAMES COMEY!
Oh, but we can't blame James Comey because he is going to testify against Trump.
Oh dear. She isn't perfect? Since when is Trump perfect? Or Bernie, with his wife in huge trouble over money and the college she ran?
DeleteShe WAS in the Midwest. Bill and Chelsea were here in MI numerous times. Had all the MI votes been counted, she would have been the winner here.
But keep blaming her. After all, she's just a woman. The white males in America will never accept that a woman is smarter, more effective, and a better leader than anyone they see.
There is genuinely so much bullshit in your pasture of poop! You are not smart enough or cunning enough to be a Russian agent, but you are gullible to believe that Bernie did not deliberately, intentionally sabotage and undermine HRC, the Democratic Party, and the Clinton presidential campaign.
DeleteHillary Clinton was the OPPOSITE of a flawed candidate! She is as near perfection as humanly possible for a politician. Yes, you read that right!
I have neither the time nor the inclination to school you today, but you truly have much to learn. You and others like you are the myriad reasons we can't have nice things.
It's easy to use Bernie as an excuse for why Clinton did not win. It's harder to realize that she was the wrong candidate.
Delete5:44 anonymous coward:
DeleteNice try.
No one said Bernie was perfect.
No one said Trump was perfect.
Read Marguerite Hill's post. She says Hillary was "near perfect." There's your blind fanboy who refuses to accept reality.
People weren't being asked to vote for Bill or Chelsea. How often did she go to Wisconsin, Michigan or Pennsylvania? And when? Once at the beginning? Or later when it was getting down to the wire?
Marguerite Hill:
So Bernie isn't supposed to do what ALL candidates do when running for office? Maybe you forgot how he defended Hillary DURING THE PRIMARIES about the fucking e-mails? Hillary was lucky Bernie ran because the other two weakling schmucks dropped out early and she would have been running by herself. NOT a good position no matter what you think. Bernie gave her someone to debate, to get issues out in the open and present her position.
Hillary was chosen by the DNC. It was "her turn". She "earned it." Yes, she was very qualified. But she had some major problems. Like, people don't like her. Like the e-mails. Like Benghazi. Like BILL. And yes, like the Wall St. speeches and money. She's too reticent, guarded and private, doesn't open up, share or reveal her feelings.
Near perfection? Who's drinking the Koolaid now?
I could never be schooled by someone so out of touch with what happened and is so obviously blindly smitten by a candidate. I have nothing to learn from you. Why don't you read some post-election analyses from those that know what they're talking about and not some amateur blogs tainted with bias?
BTW I VOTED FOR HILLARY.
But I voted for Bernie in the primary even though by the time the primaries got to my state, my vote didn't count for squat. The primary was already rigged for Hillary before the campaign even started.
Bernie listened to the people.
Hillary listend to the DNC who listened to the money and ASSumed they'd get all of the Obama voters, ASSumed Hillary would win as soon as that buffoon Trump got the RNC nomination, and ignored their own people on the ground.
Bernie is still working on the issues he brought up during the primaries. Even when the Democratic Party is busy concentrating on Anti-trust Bernie is talking about what people are interested in; healthcare, education, income inequality.
Bernie is hardly the perfect candidate. Far from it. But he did a lot better than the Democrats expected. The Democrats who allowed him to run on the Democratic ticket even though he was an Independent. Because even they knew Hillary needed to run against someone.
And gee, if she couldn't stand up to a little criticism from Bernie Sanders, what would the Republican Party and it's deep pockets SuperPacs do to her?
There's nothing Bernie said that they wouldn't also have said. At least it allowed her to counter it and get it out of the way before the election started.
That is the fault with the Democratic Party. They can't seem to differentiate between a candidate that is qualified and a candidate that is electable.
Al Franken is both but he won't run.
Which is why the Democrats can govern but they can't win elections.
Whereas the Republicans can win, but they can't govern.
Time for a third party.
Let's look at the record. Hillary accomplished more in her time as a senator than Bernie has done for decades. She served with distinction as Secretary of State. Bernie was always available for TV interviews. That is why I have always been a Hillary supporter and merely a fan of Bernie. I met many "Bernies" when I attended universaity during the 1960s. Most grew up and got jobs and became contributing members of society. Bernie went to a commune; fathered a child he did not help raise; and continued his college-fed pipe dreams. Those unrealistic dreams were attractive to many young people and disgruntled older people.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I hear a former Bernie supporter complain about Trump, I just sigh and keep quiet. It's no use talking to these people. They still think Bernie would have beaten Trump.
Go for it, Hillary. You deserve to tell your true feelings over the horrible way you were treated by your fellow citizens and colleagues.
Thank you, well-said.
DeleteAnd Bernie was never vetted.
Trump didn't win because of Bernie.
DeleteEvery analysis done post election confirms that.
I have every right to complain about Trump because I VOTED FOR HILLARY.
But I voted for Bernie in the primaries.
I am the rule rather than the exception.
Democrats that supported Bernie voted for Hillary.
Republicans that supported Bernie voted for Trump.
Is that simple enough for you?
Why are you so willfully ignorant, Gryphen? If ever I see a post, of yours, written with research and logic instead of hyperbole and emotion, I'll gladly make a $500 donation to your "search for truth".

Hillary took their $,$$$,$$$,$$$.00 as soon as Obama was out he took it too. Had the bankers been aggressively prosecuted as they should have been. There would be no book, there would be no Trump. The DNC had DW Schultz busy trying to con everybody and with Payday Loans in her back pocket. WTF. Hillary wants to sell books good for her. But to me her finger pointing makes her look like 45. I voted for her, but having a private and a public opinion about Wall Street is BS.
Oh, look.
ReplyDeleteShe's attacking Joe Biden too.
