Jimmy Kimmel goes on a one man crusade against the Graham-Cassidy Trumpcare bill.

Courtesy of Yahoo News:

Jimmy Kimmel slammed Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana on his show Tuesday night for proposing new health care legislation that Kimmel said fails the "Jimmy Kimmel test" that Cassidy himself had proposed in an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in May.

Cassidy appeared on the program earlier this year after Kimmel made an emotional plea for health care legislation that would insure affordable health coverage for all, including people with pre-existing conditions and with no lifetime caps, in the wake of Kimmel's newborn son needing life-saving heart surgery.

But Kimmel said Wednesday night the new legislation Cassidy and co-sponsor Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., have proposed in the Senate did not meet those requirements.

"Not only did Bill Cassidy fail the Jimmy Kimmel test, he failed the Bill Cassidy test," Kimmel said. "He failed his own test."

Jimmy Kimmel reaches over two million viewers each night, so his advocacy to protect Obamacare should not be taken lightly.

The conservatives like to mock celebrities getting involved with politics, but they do that because they know it is effective.

Right now Jimmy Kimmel is risking his career to protect our access to health care, let's not let him fight that all by himself.

By the way Bill Cassidy responded to Jimmy Kimmel's allegations this morning.
Yeah, that guy should never play poker, because the fact that he is lying is written all over his face.

  1. Bill Cassidy still lying and thinks we're all morons.

If I have to choose between Cassidy and Kimmel, I'll choose Kimmel. He has NO reason to lie to me.

They don't think they're lies because THEY'RE not going to screw people over, they're just enabling the STATES to do it. You know, because "states rights" and freedumb.

They seem to think as long as their "intentions" are good, then only good will happen and if not, then it's not their fault. Meanwhile they're handing the power of life and death over millions to sociopaths.

    2. Well, 11 governor know they're being screwed because the states will get less money and Medicare is being phased out. That's on Congress, not the states. So they can sail down that river of denial until they drown. Or get tossed out of office.

  2. Maybe more people will have 'access' to healthcare. They won't be able to afford it w/o subsidies.

    1. Exactly. Republicans love using semantics to lie.

Access doesn't mean afford. I have "access" to Europe but I can't afford to go there for a few weeks vacation.

Apparently most Trumpanzees are unconcerned about having real and affordable healthcare coverage. They are laser focused on keeping brown folks down, building 'the wall', and 'locking her up' ... oh, and 'clean coal'. Brainiacs they aren't. Trump loves them.

  7. Even Bill Cassidy's governor is against Cassidy's bill.

"A bipartisan group of governors urged Senate leaders Tuesday against considering the latest attempt to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, calling instead for a bipartisan effort to improve the existing law.

In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), 10 governors said the bill, sponsored by Republican Sens. Bill Cassidy (La.) and Lindsey Graham (S.C.), should be abandoned in favor of legislation written via a bipartisan, open process."

    Democrats:
    Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper
    Montana Gov. Steve Bullock
    Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf
    Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe
Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (that's right, Bill Cassidy's own Governor is against this piece of shit bill.)

    Republicans:
    Ohio Gov. John Kasich
    Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval
    Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker
    Vermont Gov. Phil Scott
(Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan sent a separate letter)

    Independents:
    Alaska Gov. Bill Walker

Collins and Murkowski will probably still be a no vote. Murkowski can always hide behind Gov. Bill Walker as an excuse, though I doubt she needs it.

But a third is needed. McCain can't be trusted and Rand Paul says no but still votes yes.

"Kasich, who along with Hickenlooper has previously called for bipartisan reforms to shore up the insurance markets, is a key signatory of the letter, as Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) also hasn’t backed the bill yet. However, Kasich also spoke out against July’s “skinny repeal” plan, which Portman ultimately voted in favor of. "

I think Kasich needs to lean on Portman.

      What would *you* do?

Trump is going to be responsible for children dying because they parents will be too scared to take them to the hospital.

What an evil, cruel, fucking asshole he is.

An Oregon man, Daniel Jimenez, has set up a petition at change.org to strip members of the US Congress of their health care coverage, with people like Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and President Trump working hard to strip millions of Americans of theirs. Jimenez lost his father to cancer a few years ago after he waited to long to go to the doctor because he lacked health insurance.

    The Petition in part states:
A lot of Members of Congress promote choice as an American value, which is all the more reason for them to have to continue to choose their own health coverage from the free marketplace. If private health care is good for the American citizen, it should also be good for the people that defend it.

If Congress is willing to drastically cut healthcare subsidies for most people, are they willing to have the same rules apply to them and their families?

Remove health-care subsidies for Members of Congress and their families

You think Trump, the Republicans or anyone in Congress is going to pay attention to this petition?

Notice the petitions at White House .gov are already gone. Trump got rid of that first thing. Then started stripping the rest of the government websites of everything that might be useful to those questioning the administration.

I know there was $182 billion in the previous bill in July, 2% of which would go to AK over 10 years to help stabilize premiums, but I don't see where that is present in the Graham Cassidy bill.

    4. Remember to call their local offices in their state, NOT D.C. Kimmel is wrong. If you want to be effective you call the office they maintain in their respective states. You talk to a staffer but they log calls. They get a thousand calls they will make damned sure the Senator hears about them.

      Delete
  12. Anonymous7:14 PM

I've never thought that calling your congressperson/senator has done a lick of good. They're casting lots for personal gain, what does it matter what we think?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That would depend on where you call.

Calling their office in Washington D.C.is futile. You'll never talk to them personally and the staff pretty much blows you off.

But if you call the office they maintain in their state, you will still talk to a staffer but they will log your call and what it is about, etc. They get hundreds or even thousands of calls about something, they pass that on to the senator.

Now whether the senator listens to their constituents or not is another thing. But if there are a lot of calls and they fear it is an issue that could doom their re-election, they'll take notice.

China and Russia alone could stop N Korea. They don't. They ALL want a world war 3 and to have a shot at becoming a super power. Russia, as we know, would give both testicles to be back on top.
