Anti-abortion GOP Congressman accused by former girlfriend of pushing her to get an abortion.

Courtesy of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

A text message sent in January to U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy by a woman with whom he had an extra-marital relationship took him to task for an anti-abortion statement posted on Facebook from his office's public account.

"And you have zero issue posting your pro-life stance all over the place when you had no issue asking me to abort our unborn child just last week when we thought that was one of the options," Shannon Edwards, a forensic psychologist in Pittsburgh with whom the congressman admitted last month to having a relationship, wrote to Mr. Murphy on Jan. 25, in the midst of an unfounded pregnancy scare.

A text from Mr. Murphy’s cell phone number that same day in response says, "I get what you say about my March for life messages. I've never written them. Staff does them. I read them and winced. I told staff don't write any more. I will."

The congressman has been lauded by the Family Research Council, for his stance on abortion, as well as for family values, generally. He also has been endorsed by LifePAC, which opposes abortion rights, and is a member of the House Pro-Life Caucus, an affiliation that is often cited by his office.

Then there's this.
And in case you were wondering, yes the Congressman is most certainly married.

You know I wish I could still be surprised by shit like this, but honestly I now expect the Republicans to be raging hypocrites and only find myself surprised when they are not.

  2. J Danforth Quale's alternate ways to cross the Potomac sets the age of viability at 24 weeks gestation. Wingnuts are in violation of Roe v Wade which has been adjudicated as constitutional.

As Drumpfuck has made abundantly clear, rules only apply to Dems.

We all know that rich people and Republicans can get abortions behind closed doors. But woe be minorities, non-Republucan politicians and poor people.

We were having a good laugh about this last night in our house. With all of the IV drug users up here, this is going to be the least of their sexual woes; just wait until they all end up HIV positive instead of just with the clap. That's gonna be fun!

  12. For those not aware, Congress has also allowed CHIP (childhood health insurance program) to EXPIRE and has voted to ban abortions after 20 weeks. Most genetic abnormalities don’t show up on tests until 21-24 weeks or later so that would force women to bring to term dead babies or babies doomed to die an excruciating death hours, days, weeks or months after birth. Torturing both of their parents who in the vast majority of cases loved these children and desperately wanted them. But didn’t want them to live in agony waiting for death. It would also increase the risk of death in mothers that developed pregnancy complications after 20 weeks.

Fuck EVIL Trump and his EVIL Republican Talibangelicals. May they be the only attendees at an “outdoor country music festival.”

I have no problem with this. Get an abortion BEFORE 20 weeks, seriously that's 5 months and if you don't want that baby then you need to do it even sooner before viability, in my opinion.

They are keeping 23 week babies alive now, so really, this is no too much to ask. We are talking nearly-viable humans at 20 weeks so those that want to get rid of their fetus should be humane about it.

Also in the case of mother facing death through carrying the fetus or delivery even later term abortions would always be an option.

Not a parent don't really even like other humans but I don't think we should cause undue suffering and aborting at 20 weeks, much less later, is traumatic to the fetal human, get rid of it when it doesn't feel so much.

Hey you fools that voted gop, see they can lie so easy!

You will have to pay more taxes, they made it harder for you to abort a possible handicapped child,....

Most of the GOP dirtbags don't even know they are pregnant until it is way too late to abort, not that they would anyway because even if the kid has FAS or is born to a drug addicted mother they know that can get SSD benefits for it for life and medicaid will pay for birth and delivery and welfare and SNAP benefits give them food and housing so they can buy more drugs with their spare change.

We need to seriously take a look at the welfare society in this country and make some more changes. Yes, people can only get welfare benefits for 5 years but the rest of it is wayyyy to generous and we need to cut off the "lifers" before we end up with a majority of "takers" paid for a minority of the actual tax-paying citizens.

People that run for office generally have huge egos and the giant dose of hubris that goes along with that, as a result they often see themselves above the same laws they seek to pass and enact upon others.

There has hardly been a man or woman in higher office that has not been engaged in some sort of sexual scandal; it comes with the type of person that chooses that sort of political engagement, those behaviors go hand in hand.

Many forgave Bill Clinton for his dalliances and lying about them, I don't fault conservatives for either turning a blind eye or forgiving their elected officials.

Ego maniacs run for office; they also fuck around a lot.

No. Murphy is really in a class of his own for ego and hubris. His assholery is not limited to his abortion hypocrisy and being unfaithful to his wife. That's what it took to get riid of him though, so good riddance.
