Donald Trump tells widow of fallen soldier "He knew what he signed up for." And then of course he denies it. Update!

Courtesy of WaPo:

The White House did not receive detailed information from the Defense Department about the four dead soldiers until Oct. 12, and that information was not fully verified by the White House Military Office until Monday, according to a senior White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to comment on the internal process.

At that point, the official said, Trump was cleared to reach out to the four families — both in letters that were mailed Tuesday and in personal phone calls to family members that day.

“He offered condolences on behalf of a grateful nation and assured them their family’s extraordinary sacrifice to the country will never be forgotten,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.

In his call with Sgt. La David T. Johnson’s widow, Myeshia Johnson, Trump told her, “He knew what was signing up for, but I guess it hurts anyway,” according to the account of Rep. Frederica S. Wilson (D-Fla.), who was riding in a limousine with Johnson when the president called and heard the conversation on speakerphone.

Wilson recalled in an interview with The Washington Post that Johnson broke down in tears. “He made her cry,” Wilson said. The congresswoman said she wanted to take the phone and “curse him out,” but that the Army sergeant holding the phone would not let her speak to the president.

At first the White House would neither confirm nor deny this story, but then this morning Trump tweeted this.
When told of this denial by Trump, Rep. Frederica Wilson said this:

"I have proof, too: this man is a sick man," Wilson said Wednesday morning on CNN's "New Day," responding to Trump's tweet. She added that Johnson's widow "broke down" after her call with Trump, saying the President "didn't even know his name."

Well I am interested in seeing Trump's "proof."

I wonder if it is the same kind of proof as the kind he said he had which proved Barack Obama was not born in America, or the same kind of proof he had concerning all of those millions of illegals who voted for Hillary Clinton, or perhaps it is the same kind of proof as that which proved that thousands of Muslims in New Jersey cheered when the World Trade Center crumbled to the ground.

I wonder if it is proof like that?

Wilson is right, Trump is a sick man.

Update: So now the widow has confirmed Rep. Wilson's version of the call, and the White House is now saying that Trump was "misunderstood."

Did they also misunderstand when he called Wilson a liar and claimed to have proof to back that up?

Update 2: Jesus check this out.
By the way the Congresswoman HAS made the statement again, so where is your proof asshole?

For a man who claims to be well educated, Trump has major issues.

Trump does not know how to speak if he does not have a teleprompter or a speech written for him,

Look how he was insensitive to the people of Puerto Rico after the hurricane devastated the island.

So I believe Trump was insensitive to Sgt. La David Johnson's family.

    2. This isn’t news. Trump has proven again and again he cannot speak sensitively. (He lacks the emotional capacity.) You would think by now his handlers knew this and would have written him out a script to read.

You can be sure from now on they certainly will. They’ll just change the names and details but it will be scripted just the same.

Trump can’t be trusted to just speak extemporaneously. He might start in on his stump speech talking points about how big the inauguration crowd was or how many illegal votes Hillary got.

      DoG he is totally inept.

Oh, FFS, how hard would it have been to say, "The USA grieves with you over your husband's loss. Knowing how dangerous the job was, he did it to keep all of us safe. We are very grateful for his service and so sorry to lose such a fine man." There--that said the same thing as "he knew what he was getting into", but it showed class.

      But apparently their names will.

      At least Sgt. LaDavid Johnson.

When questioned at that press briefing Trump couldn't remember shit. Couldn't remember the wife was Mrs. LaDavid Johnson or Myeshia Johnson, couldn't remember the representative's name, couldn't remember what he said. It was some blanket, generic denial with some vague threat. Typical Trump bullshit.

Well, Representative Wilson has repeated her statement. Now, what is Trump going to do? Unfriend her? Block her on Twitter? Does he think he can fire a member of Congress?

IF.... if the President of the United States of America (Trump) wants to play Consoler-In-Chief and calls to console the widows of fallen heroes, wouldn't it be proper to know the names of the fallen soldiers before making his calls so as not to upset the widows? How hard is that?

Trump said the hardest job he has to do is to make these calls?

So was it harder to improve his golf game the week he planned to make four phone calls or was it harder to remember four names?

Congresswoman Wilson said the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson was upset after the call.

“She looked at me and she, ‘He didn’t even know his name.’ That’s the worst part," she said.

I could not believe he was saying that, and I wish I had it recorded because the man did say this. He said, ‘No other president has ever done something like this,’ but he said, ‘I’m going to do it.’”

But Baldridge told the Post he had not yet received a check yet. He said he did receive a condolence letter from the administration, adding that he “opened it up and read it ... hoping to see a check in there.”

“I know it was kind of far-fetched thinking. But I was like, ‘Damn, no check.’ Just a letter saying ‘I’m sorry,’” he told the Post."

Fox News demands Army widow be thankful for Trump’s insulting phone call

Desperately trying to clean up the burgeoning scandal surrounding the ISIS ambush in Niger that killed four Americans two weeks ago, made even worse Donald Trump’s stunningly insensitive response to it, Fox News simply fabricated the latest chapter in the story in attempt to save Trump’s reputation.

Trump stunned observers Tuesday night when he reportedly, and belatedly, called Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, who was en route to meet her husband’s remains at the Miami airport.

But instead of simply offering words of sympathy, he reportedly told the young, pregnant widow that her husband “knew what he was signing up for” when he joined the military.

The call was first reported by Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL), who was with the Johnson family and heard the call on speakerphone.

On Wednesday morning, Trump lashed out at Wilson, saying she “totally fabricated” details of the call. Cowanda Jones-Johnson, mother of the slain soldier, later confirmed that Wilson’s description was “very accurate.”

But Trump’s allies at Fox News, led by Ainsley Earhardt, took a different approach. They simply rewrote the phone call script and improved upon what Trump reportedly told the widow, while suggesting that the young woman should be grateful for Trump’s time and attention.

My response to this was the president of the United States of America called to say, “Thank you for your service. I’m sorry for your sacrifice.” That in it of itself is extremely special that the president of the United States picked up the phone to call these families."

"To put another woman down, to push her farther down one of any number of ladders in life, only makes your climb just that much easier. In the eyes of those in power, in the eyes of other women watching the spectacle, to deride and shame another woman is a palpable positive."

    He’s Poison

President Trump is poison. Everything around him gets damaged and degraded. It’s not any one thing. It’s everything. It’s hard to evaluate the dynamics of this call out of the context of waiting ten days, lying about his predecessors, creating this hideous spectacle with John Kelly’s son. Was the family prepped for something off because of the preceding three days? Probably. Was Trump angry about all the criticism? Probably so. It’s a perfect storm. And it all builds out of one man, Donald Trump.

There’s a big debate about Trump and clinical diagnoses. Malignant narcissism is the one most clinicians refer to. But that’s a distraction. You’re talking about someone with a profound selfishness, a jarring inability to experience empathy and a kind of ravenous emotional predation. Someone who is a profound narcissist is inherently erratic and destructive to those around him since he is acting according to his own impulses, angers and appetites with a relative indifference or even a sort of blindness to those around him. They don’t exist. Lots of wreckage is inevitable. That’s what it’s like living, trapped, in a house with an abuser. This is what it’s like living in a country with a President who’s a predator.

He poisons everything. No one gets out undamaged. Some are damaged profoundly.
