Donald Trump tells widow of fallen soldier "He knew what he signed up for." And then of course he denies it. Update!

Courtesy of WaPo:

The White House did not receive detailed information from the Defense Department about the four dead soldiers until Oct. 12, and that information was not fully verified by the White House Military Office until Monday, according to a senior White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to comment on the internal process.

At that point, the official said, Trump was cleared to reach out to the four families — both in letters that were mailed Tuesday and in personal phone calls to family members that day.

“He offered condolences on behalf of a grateful nation and assured them their family’s extraordinary sacrifice to the country will never be forgotten,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.

In his call with Sgt. La David T. Johnson’s widow, Myeshia Johnson, Trump told her, “He knew what was signing up for, but I guess it hurts anyway,” according to the account of Rep. Frederica S. Wilson (D-Fla.), who was riding in a limousine with Johnson when the president called and heard the conversation on speakerphone.

Wilson recalled in an interview with The Washington Post that Johnson broke down in tears. “He made her cry,” Wilson said. The congresswoman said she wanted to take the phone and “curse him out,” but that the Army sergeant holding the phone would not let her speak to the president.

At first the White House would neither confirm nor deny this story, but then this morning Trump tweeted this.
When told of this denial by Trump, Rep. Frederica Wilson said this:

"I have proof, too: this man is a sick man," Wilson said Wednesday morning on CNN's "New Day," responding to Trump's tweet. She added that Johnson's widow "broke down" after her call with Trump, saying the President "didn't even know his name."

Well I am interested in seeing Trump's "proof."

I wonder if it is the same kind of proof as the kind he said he had which proved Barack Obama was not born in America, or the same kind of proof he had concerning all of those millions of illegals who voted for Hillary Clinton, or perhaps it is the same kind of proof as that which proved that thousands of Muslims in New Jersey cheered when the World Trade Center crumbled to the ground.

I wonder if it is proof like that?

Wilson is right, Trump is a sick man.

Update: So now the widow has confirmed Rep. Wilson's version of the call, and the White House is now saying that Trump was "misunderstood."

Did they also misunderstand when he called Wilson a liar and claimed to have proof to back that up?

Update 2: Jesus check this out.
By the way the Congresswoman HAS made the statement again, so where is your proof asshole?

While the death toll rises in Puerto Rico Donald Trump threatens to pull FEMA out.

Jesus Christ! What a heartless POS!

The people of Puerto Rico are still in desperate need of help as this report by Vox clearly illustrates:

Lives surely have been saved in the response. But images and reports from the ground tell a story of people, cut off from basic supplies and health care, dying. They tell of hospitals running out of medication and fuel for their generators and struggling to keep up with the “avalanche of patients that came after the hurricane,” as one journalist put it.

The death toll from the hurricane is now up to 45, according to Gov. Ricardo Rosselló. But 90 percent of the 3.4 million American citizens on the island still don’t have power, and 35 percent still don’t have water to drink or bathe in. And given how deadly power outages can be, 45 deaths seems low, according to disaster experts.

Vox found the official death toll to be a little suspicious, so they did a deeper dive:

We searched Google News for reports of deaths in English and Spanish media from Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria. We found reports of a total of 81 deaths linked directly or indirectly to the hurricane. Of those, 45 were the deaths certified by the government. The remaining 36 deaths were confirmed by local public officials or funeral directors, according to the reports. We also found another 450 reported deaths, most of causes still unknown, and reports of at least 69 people still missing.

The broader issue here relates to how storm deaths are counted. There are clear deaths from the storm, clear deaths indirectly from the storm, and then deaths that are harder to determine — for instance, a sick patient who died in a hospital experiencing frequent power outages. And then there’s the issue of how effective authorities are at finding and investigating the deaths to make sure they’re included in the count. The breakdown of these categories suggests that the government is being much more cautious in designating deaths as directly or indirectly hurricane-related, given the public information available.

As Rachel Maddow pointed out on her show last night, a number of these fatalities were NOT the result of the initial hurricane, but the occurred in the aftermath because of a lack of food, water, or medical care.

And the death toll will only climb even higher if Trump pulls the relief effort.

But hey, why would he care?

After all these are only mostly brown people who cannot even vote in a presidential election.

The epitome of Christian love.

So that strange looking individual up above is a former LA cop and current missionary and self styled preacher Tony Miano. He is also used to host a show with Kirk Cameron buddy, Ray Comfort.

Well while most people were reacting with horror at the devastation that resulted from that earthquake in Nepal, Miano had an entirely different reaction.

Yeah nothing like a devastating earthquake, and an astronomical loss of innocent life, to convince the heathens to reject thousands of years of religious tradition and embrace the Christian god, who Christians believe is responsible for all natural phenomena on earth.

Good sales pitch.

“We are all still grieving. This is the wrong time to discuss their goal of putting more guns on the street . . . The bodies haven’t even all been buried yet.” Newtown resident responds to NRA Vice President's speech.

Here are a few of the responses from politicians, pundits, and the citizens of Newtown, still emotionally raw from the killings in their community, to Wayne LaPierre's speech.

Courtesy of  the Daily News:

“I don’t even know where to begin,” Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele said on MSNBC. “As a supporter of the Second Amendment and a supporter of the NRA, I just found it very haunting and very disturbing that we are a country talking about arming our teachers and principals in classrooms.”

“How dare they?” fumed Elizabeth Murphy, 42, who lives int the town. “We are all still grieving. This is the wrong time to discuss their goal of putting more guns on the street . . . The bodies haven’t even all been buried yet.”

The speech appalled Rep. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), who represents Newtown in Congress.

He took to Twitter to express his fury. “Walking out of another (Newtown) funeral and was handed the NRA transcript. The most revolting, tone deaf statement I’ve ever seen,” tweeted Murphy, who will be sworn in as the state’s next senator in January.

“They are without conscience and they are cruel,” said Barnett Parker, 68. “They are unable to take ownership. It makes me crazy. It makes me freaking nuts.”

You know as I watched that speech yesterday I actually had a moment where I thought I was being punked, and that the whole thing was an elaborate setup to make liberals look foolish by responding to what HAD to be a joke.

But then I woke up today to see almost ALL of the cable news shows respond in much the same way that I did and realized that it did indeed actually happen.

And rather than be embarrassed by the remarks of their President, the NRA took to Twitter to double down.

(You KNOW you are desperate when you rely on Breitbart.com for favorable poll results!)

So all I can take away from this is that the NRA is COMPLETELY out of touch with the mood of the country right now, and does not recognize the incredibly devastating affect their president's callous remarks have had on people who were still devastated by the loss of life in Sandy Hook elementary school.

I had wondered if this incident would even be a catalyst to REAL reform of our gun laws, but now I am simply wondering how LARGE of an impact it is going to have.
