Just another reminder that Australia solved the problem of mass shootings.

And this means it is once again time to remember Jim Jefferies amazing bit on gun control.

Part one.

Part two.

It can be done.

We've seen it.

The question is whether or not the American people have the courage to do it.

OT In case anyone missed this interview with Mayor Cruz last night you can read it at the link below. I want to point out that Trump only cared about his image of doing a "tremendous job" .
As long as he received praise and compliments it would not matter that people had no food, water, medicine or that provisions were stuck at the port. Anything less than accolades is labeled "Fake News" by Trump.

After the mass shooting in Arizona, our guests were discussing why semi-automatic (turned into machine guns) guns were allowed since they serve no purpose. One idiot argued that it is her right to have fun with guns whenever she wants. Are you fucking kidding me? Since when does your right to have fun impinge on another person's right to stay alive???

You don't get to go have fun at the bar, get in your car drunk and kill someone in a car accident. Why is their freedom to have fun create a hostile and unsafe place for the rest of us to live.

Why should our right to pursue life and liberty be diminished so they can have fun?

Chuck Todd unearths video of Don Jr. advertising gun silencers that help ‘get little kids into the game’

In the wake of the deadly attack in Las Vegas, where millionaire shooter Stephen Paddock killed 59 people and wounded more than 500 others, MSNBC’s Chuck Todd reminded viewers of Trump Jr.’s close ties to the gun lobby.

The gun industry’s “marketing campaigns aimed at kids” included avid hunter Trump Jr., Todd said, who “praised [SilencerCo’s] product line, in part, because it might make guns easier for kids to use.”

“It’s about safety. It’s about hearing protection. It’s a health issue, frankly, for me,” Trump Jr. said.

SilencerCo’s product, Trump Jr. said in the clip, would help get “little kids into the game” because “it greatly reduces recoil.”

“It’s just a great instrument,” the president’s eldest son said. “There is nothing bad about it at all. It makes total sense, it’s where we should be going.”

Watch Todd’s unearthed video of Trump Jr. selling gun silencers below, via MSNBC.

The city’s slogan is, What Happens Here, Stays Here.
"On Monday night it wasn’t, according to Martin Malmberg and Mike Briggs, devout Christians who stood on a bridge over the Strip for hours offering free prayers to any takers."“I just offered them prayers of hope. If that can happen,” Briggs said, looking toward Mandalay Bay, the hotel from which Paddock fired, “then there has to be something so much MORE GLORIOUS waiting for all of us.” Life goes on." At Strip Gun Club, a trio of men shot at paper targets just before 7 p.m. Tuesday. A spotless, shining .50 caliber machine gun sat on the counter, welcoming anyone who entered the front door. Behind the counter, AR-15s and other assault rifles were on display for those willing to spend about $100 to enter the range and start shooting."distraction that allows us to avoid the reality of the issues we must face. Mental health, access to guns, the inherently violent nature of America and what it breeds in all of US."

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/las-vegas-killer-stephen-paddock-had-better-rifles-than-the-us-military

"Law enforcement recovered 23 firearms from the 32nd-floor suite of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, including AR-15-style rifles. They are the equivalent of the U.S. military’s standard service rifle, the M-16. One the rifles seen in an unofficial photograph features a “free floating barrel,” unlike an M-16 whose barrel is connected to the rest of the rifle."The tactic within the U.S. military is known to machine gunners as “plunging fire” where bullets essentially rain down in a conical area versus a straight line if Paddock were on the same elevation as his targets. This means less bullets are needed to be used."
"“The only time we shoot a fully automatic weapon is at an area target,” Cowden said. “Well guess what? A stadium full of people is an area target... it doesn’t take any training to do what he did.”"“He’s the exact opposite of a sniper,” Schofield said. “His rate of fire his suppressive, not precision. He didn’t have to worry about range, angle, wind adjustments. Just aim for the middle of the mass and fire as quickly as possible.”

    http://www.motherjones.com/crime-justice/2017/10/the-las-vegas-shooter-didnt-just-snap-they-never-do/

"reinforced a misconception that invariably marks the national discourse in the aftermath of indiscriminate mass shootings: that the perpetrator was severely mentally ill, and somehow just “snapped” and went on a killing spree. Law enforcement investigators and journalists have found no record of mental illness for 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, whom police found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. And as with the vast majority of mass shooters, there is substantial evidence showing that Paddock deliberately planned the massacre over a lengthy period of time and then methodically carried it out."
    "The pathway to violence"
    "Obsession with military-style weapons"
"Did he signal his intentions?a concept known as “leakage.”
"(Some signs began to emerge on Tuesday that Paddock might’ve been abusive toward Danley; a history of domestic violence is common among mass shooters. Paddock’s two ex-wives have so far declined to talk to the press.)"
    "Psychopathy and Suicidal behavior"
"may explain the detachment and cruelty to carry out such an act.”

Evidence may yet emerge as to what was going on inside Paddock’s mind as he plotted his slaughter. It was without a doubt a hideous and evil act, and it was hardly inexplicable."

Loved what Jim Jeffries had to say about gun control. He sure has us Americans figured out. Sorry tho, Americans, are not going to change. Even if we got down to our last citizen, the portion of people who love to tote their guns just cuz are not changin. Never before has there been a more stubborn country on the issue. And that's because the redneck faction have gotten the upper hand. They be a tribal non compromising bunch, those. But maybe, some smart politician can, if they want to that is, trick the system. Just maybe.

Heck, the solution's simple. First, declare of state of national emergency. Secondly, secretly suspend the Second Amendment (or find some loophole somewhere; make one up; whatever). Call up every law enforcement person; the National Guard; all military personnel active or reserve or retired. Then station these people outside every home in the US with orders to break in and confiscate all weapons. Round up the resisters and schedule mass executions at sundown as a deterrent. Oh, and destroy all the gun shops and manufacturing facilities as well. A multi-pronged thinning of the herd. [sarcasm]

  16. There are plenty of civilized countries that do not allow their citizens to own handguns. There is no reason to own a hand gun except to kill people. Likewise they are not allowed to own automatic, semi-automatic or military style/grade weapons.

They ARE allowed to own shotguns and rifles for HUNTING.

There is no reason similar restrictions cannot be instituted in this country. The NRA is the National RIFLE Association and was founded for HUNTERS.

They need to stop shilling for the “murder lobby.”

"Genesis of the Icelandic Psychological Defense Act
Like most of the world, Iceland is watching the United States of America with growing concern. President Trump won the election in part by blowing demagogic dog whistles so loud even racist German Shepherds across the Atlantic could hear. Many in Iceland wondered if he could’ve won without the support of conservative churches and their faith-based flocks hoping for the biblical apocalypse?"

    http://city-herald.com/las-vegas-shooting-girlfriend-reveals-killer-suffered-from-schizophrenia/

"According to evidence given by Ms. Danley, the killer, Stephen Paddock, suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and used to act “irrational and erratic” anytime he was off his meds.
“Every time he saw a group of people go down the block he would go and hide,” she told F.B.I. officials.
Ms. Danley also claimed that she tried to get Paddock committed to medical care on weekends at a local health facility, which saw an improvement in his health. “I knew Stephen Paddock as a kind, caring, quiet man. I loved him and hoped for a quiet future together with him. I never knew he was planning harm,” "
