Christopher Steele was only paid $168,000 to compile the Russian dossier, despite claims from Donald Trump that it was as much as 12 million.

Courtesy of Reuters:

A Washington research firm paid a former British spy's company $168,000 for work on a dossier outlining Russian financial and personal links to Donald Trump's 2016 election campaign, the U.S. firm said in a statement on Wednesday.

Although it was public knowledge that Fusion GPS paid for the work, the amount had not been disclosed. Fusion GPS hired former MI6 officer Christopher Steele to collect information about Trump and his advisers.

Fusion GPS' statement said it had told Congress about how $168,000 was paid last year to Orbis Business Intelligence, Steele's company. The money paid to Orbis was taken from $1.02 million it received in fees and expenses from the Perkins Coie law firm, the statement said.

The law firm represented the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, although initial research by Fusion into Trump and other Republican primary candidates was commissioned by a conservative website.

This is interesting because earlier Trump tweeted this:
So altogether the Democrats only paid Fusion GPS about 1.02 million, and only a fraction of that actually went to pay for this dossier.

Well that certainly helps to stick a pin in the idea that the Clinton campaign spent millions and millions to find dirt on Donald Trump.

Now I'm kind of interested in how much the Washington Free Beacon paid before the Democrats arrived on the scene?

O/T, but VERY important for separation of church and state:

The new Tax bill (abomination) contains provision to eliminate completely the Johnson Amendment, the 1954 requirement that nonprofit organizations—including churches—refrain from partisan political activity, which includes endorsing candidates or spending money on election campaigns.

“They just can’t help themselves,” said Geoffrey T. Blackwell, staff attorney for American Atheists.

“They’re not simply repealing the Johnson Amendment. They’re specifically exempting churches—and only churches—from the requirement, giving them even more special treatment on the basis of religious belief.

The Equal Protection violation here couldn’t be more clear.

    -----------------
I have to ask these CHristian Sharia law fanatics if they are going to allow Jewish Temples or Islamic Mosques the SAME PRIVILEGE?

The American Atheists group has already threatened to sue over this, and if that happens this could go to the Supreme Court.

These religious fanatic Christian Ayatollahs want to kill all abortions, eliminate birth control, and KILL LGBT rights.

It is IMPERATIVE that all Democrats and Independents vote out these 12th century troglodytes in 2018.

Petty, petulant and punitive is how this Republican Party rolls.

Since when it is okay for a major political party to use the tax code to punish the opposition? “A number of provisions would hit taxpayers in Democratic-leaning states hardest, like rolling back deductions for state and local taxes and cutting in half the popular mortgage interest deduction,”

The GOP bill cuts taxes on “pass-through” businesses … like the Trump Organization.

“I don't believe it”: Republicans are unfazed that corporate tax cuts poll really badly

We asked eight congressional Republicans about the unpopularity of a major part of their tax bill.

Republicans really want to cut the corporate tax rate. It’s the centerpiece of every plan they have released, and they’ve spent weeks floating wildly unpopular ways to pay for it.

There’s just one problem: It’s really unpopular — even among Republican voters.

Sixty percent of registered voters think corporations pay “too little” in taxes, according to a September poll from Morning Consult and Politico, surveying a little under 2,000 Americans. A more recent Morning Consult and Politico survey from October found only 39 percent of Americans think it should be part of the tax plan — with 59 percent of Republican voters supporting it. Another poll from Pew Research Center showed that 53 percent of Republicans think corporate tax rates should either be raised or stay the same.

But confronted with these numbers, House and Senate Republicans seemed unfazed.

“Who cares?” Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) said before I had a chance to say what the polls showed.

Others said they didn’t believe the numbers.

OT. Nicole Wallace just beat down a Trump surrogate who was peddling the Clinton colluded with the Russians and paid “millions” for dirt they spread about Trump. He refused to answer if he trusted Mueller and claimed no one at the White House has any concerns about the indictments or Papadopolous.

Wallace shut him down slamming him that (her program) this is not Fox News! She firmly stated you are not peddling propaganda here. She added she could call a few friends at Fox or email them if he wanted to go over there to talk propaganda. The surrogate aggressively interrupted Steve Schmidt that Wallace called him out for his defensiveness and that he was about to jump through the camera to punch Steve in the throat! More popcorn please....
