Robert Mueller investigation now shifting attention to Donald Trump.

Courtesy of the Daily Beast:

Sam Clovis, co-chairman of President Donald Trump’s election campaign, has reportedly been questioned over whether Trump and his top aides’ knew the extent of his campaign team’s contacts with Russia during last year’s election. One source cited by Reuters has described Clovis as “another domino” to fall after former campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his Russia contacts late last month. Investigators are now trying to piece together how far up the chain of command such Russia contacts went, according to the report. “The ultimate question Mueller is after is whether candidate Trump and then President-elect Trump knew of the discussions going on with Russia, and who approved or even directed them,” one source was cited as saying. “The investigators now know what Papadopoulos was doing on the Russian front, which he initially tried to conceal, and who he told that to,” the other source said. “Now [they] want to know whether Clovis and others reported these activities and others related to Russia, and if so, to whom.”

Despite Trump's desperate assertions that he is not personally under investigation, I think everybody realizes that these investigations are going to focus on him eventually.

And when they do, and Trump is compelled to testify, that is essentially game, set, and match.

Here is a link to the original article at Reuters .

Mueller always seems to keep things very close to his chest - as to his investigations. How do we know these statements are true - that he is now investigating Trump?

How large is his Mueller's staff? Are folks from within leaking to the media? I would think Mueller would have been on top of that immediately when it started occurring. (the leaks)

Or, are people that are being questioned the ones that are leaking? Guess it could be just about anyone the more I think about it. Feel for Mr. Mueller and trying to do what is right and beneficial to our country.

Here is how Trump is laying the groundwork to fire Mueller if things get too hot for him

While President Trump cavorts in Asia, his legal problems at home continue to mount. The indictment of three aides, his record-low poll numbers and a wave of Republican defeats in state and local elections compound the threat to his aides, his family and himself by limiting his options. When he returns November 18, he will find himself more vulnerable than ever.

Is Trump trapped? Let’s just say the president’s defenses have a way of backfiring.

Last May, Trump fired FBI director James Comey in an effort to get rid of “this Russia thing.” The result was the appointment of special prosecutor Robert Mueller who indicted former campaign manager Paul Manafort and his aide Rick Gates. According to NBC News, Mueller has also amassed enough evidence to charge Michael Flynn, Trump’s short-lived national security adviser.

Trump claimed allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia were “fake news.” Then came the indictment of George Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy aide who says he spoke to a Russian about getting “dirt” on Hillary Clinton.

Trump, who has boasted having “one of the greatest memories of all time,” said he couldn’t “recall much” about a 2016 meeting in which he appeared in a photograph with Papadopoulos.

Now Trump has a new defense, offered by surrogates in Congress and Fox News.

    ‘Risk of a Coup’

“We are at risk of a coup d’état in this country if we allow an unaccountable person with no oversight to undermine the duly elected president of the United States,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said in a Capitol Hill speech Wednesday, according to The Hill. “That is precisely what is happening right now with the indisputable conflicts of interest that are present with Mr. Mueller and others at the Department of Justice.”

Along with Congressmen Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Andy Biggs (R-Arizona), Gaetz co-sponsored a resolution last week that questions Mueller’s neutrality. Capitol Hill Republicans claim the ongoing Trump-Russia investigation is compromised because Mueller was the head of the FBI when the Obama administration approved the sale of the Uranium One mining firm to the Russian atomic energy agency.

The Uranium One story, it must be said, has replaced “Benghazi” as the conservative conspiracy theory du jour for a good reason: The Uranium One story does have the whiff of Clintonian corruption.

People associated with Uranium One donated an astonishing $145 million to the Clinton Foundation, mostly before and during Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential run, according to the Washington Post. In addition, Bill Clinton received $500,000 from a Russian bank to give a speech at a conference in Moscow in 2011.

What the Uranium One story doesn’t have is any evidence of wrongdoing or bias or conflict of interest by Robert Mueller. The Treasury Department was the lead agency that headed the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, which approved the investment, according to CNN.

There is no evidence that the Uranium One sale violated any laws or harmed the United States.

‘They’d rather keep a child molester in the Capitol’: Conservative Jen Rubin blisters GOP’s thirst for power

...“That’s the mentality of things that are going on,” an animated Rubin began. “You have a Republican Party that’s devolved into tribalism. Whatever they have to do: lie, cover up, violate their own oaths because the tribe is everything. That majority is more important than keeping a child molester out of the Capitol.”

“The second thing that’s going on is Bannon is trying to remake the party in his image,” she continued. “He wants them all to be as crazy as he is. This is an ego trip for him, this is an ego trip for the president — punish their allies.”

“What would they do with a majority? They can’t legislate,” she snapped.

Spineless Trump signals to Putin he won’t enforce America’s sanctions on Russia

...A day after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, Donald Trump told reporters that he doesn’t want to enforce sanctions on Russia because he would rather deal with the Kremlin as a friend.

The sanctions package, which passed through Congress with approval from an overwhelming bipartisan majority, was a direct response to Russia’s unprecedented interference in the 2016 presidential election, as well as their human rights violations and military aggression in Ukraine.

Trump begrudgingly signed the sanctions into law on Aug. 2 and had until Oct. 1 to start implementing them. After blowing past that deadline with no explanation, a new deadline of January 2017 was set to implement the sanctions targeting Russia’s defense, intelligence, and energy sectors.

But on Sunday, Trump said Russia has already been “very, very heavily sanctioned” and suggested that we should try to make friends with the country that is actively trying to undermine our nation’s democratic process.

Being on better terms with Russia, Trump said, would be “an asset to the world.”

He went on to parrot more Kremlin-approved talking points, insisting that we can only fight terrorism and solve other global issues if we let Russia do whatever they want, without consequences.

    AMERICA STOP THIS SHIT

    Washington Post:
He has never tried a case, but Trump wants to make him judge for life

Brett Talley, a 36-year-old lawyer whom President Trump nominated for a lifetime federal judgeship, has practiced law for only three years and has yet to try a case.

Talley is the latest federal judicial nominee to draw scrutiny for what some say is his limited experience in practicing law and the level of partisanship he had shown on social media, on his political blog and on several opinion pieces he had written for CNN. He has also received a “not qualified” rating from the American Bar Association, which vets federal judicial nominees....

“Your overall qualifications and preparation for becoming a lifetime-appointed federal judge are a concern to me,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said, according to her written questions to Talley.

Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) did not mince words, asking questions like:

“How can you claim to be qualified for a lifetime appointment to supervise federal trials on a daily basis when you have never yourself tried a single case?” and

“Do you think it is advisable to put people with literally no trial experience on the federal district court bench?”

“Brett Talley is entirely unqualified for a federal judgeship because he lacks the breadth and depth of experience necessary for the job, and he has demonstrated ideologically extreme views that call into question his temperament and judgment,” Vanita Gupta, president and chief executive of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, said in a statement.

The bar association gave a “not qualified” rating to four Trump judicial picks. Two, Talley and Leonard Steven Grasz, an Omaha lawyer nominated to fill a vacancy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, were unanimously deemed to be unqualified. Two others, Charles Goodwin and Holly Teeter, nominees for federal district judgeship in Oklahoma and Kansas, respectively, were rated as “not qualified” in a split decision.

  19. Trump is living in the past. When Comey told him he was not under investigation that may have been true AT THE TIME. But Trump has embraced that as he isn't and never will be under investigation. He's living in fantasyland, just as he has been most of his life. Reality can't touch him. And when it tries, it's fake news and he tries to control it, bend it or break it until it conforms to the reality he wants.

Trump Judicial Pick Did Not Disclose He Is Married to a White House Lawyer

WASHINGTON — One of President Trump’s most controversial judicial nominees did not disclose on publicly available congressional documents that he is married to a senior lawyer in the White House Counsel’s Office.

The nominee, Brett J. Talley, is awaiting a Senate confirmation vote that could come as early as Monday to become a federal district judge in Alabama. He is married to Ann Donaldson, the chief of staff to the White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn II.

Mr. Talley was asked on his publicly released Senate questionnaire to identify family members and others who are “likely to present potential conflicts of interest.” He did not mention his wife
