Courtesy of Newsweek:
Hope Hicks, who worked for Trump's campaign before becoming White House communications director, will be grilled by Mueller's team as early as next week, a source told Newsweek — and the questions will center on possibly fabricated statements she helped produce about the campaign's contacts with Russian operatives during the 2016 election.
At issue is a statement provided to the media just days after the election, when Hicks flatly denied any campaign member conducted meetings with Russian representatives.
"It never happened," she said at the time, even as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was admitting "there were contacts" made with the Trump team. "There was no communication between the campaign and any foreign entity during the campaign."
It is increasingly clear that Hicks's statement is untrue.
I know that Trump demands absolute loyalty from his people but it is hard to imagine that this young woman would be willing to do hard time to protect that orange tinged asshole.
Pretty sure she will spill the beans.
Speaking of spilling the beans, Mueller is now also shifting some of his focus to Rep. Dana Rohrabacher. Oooh now we're talking!
Courtesy of the LA Times:
As part of his investigation into Russian attempts to influence the 2016 presidential campaign, FBI special counsel Robert Mueller is questioning witnesses about a meeting that allegedly took place shortly before the election between Rep. Dana Rohrabacher and former Trump advisor Michael Flynn, NBC is reporting.
Rohrabacher (R-Costa Mesa) has long advocated for a friendlier relationship between the United States and Russia. His name has tangentially come up in relation to the investigation, but this is the first direct mention that the FBI is looking at a meeting in which Rohrabacher participated.
Rohrabacher's name has been bouncing around since this whole Russia investigation first began, I figured it was only a matter of time before the Mueller team would shift their attention his way.
I actually think there are far more American politicians besides Trump and Rohrabacher that Putin has managed to put under his control, and I am hoping that Mueller will be able to flush a number of them out into the open.

ReplyDeleteHow many notches does Mueller have on his belt?
ReplyDeleteLeave room for Don Jr, Kushner and daddy's notches
He has to make sure he gets state charges, not federal, so daddy can’t pardon.

ReplyDeleteShe also made more than the salaries of Bannon and Priebus combined.
DeleteWhat did she do that was worth such an exhorbitant salary? Her resumé doesn't show much experience or expertise.
She is (or was) the girlfriend of Ivanka. That's how Trump met her.
Sorry, but this all smacks MISTRESS to me.
...and EWWWWW, mlaiuppa.
DeleteWhen the first wife, the one that said he raped her, got old, Donald traded her for a younger model. That's not unusual. Some wives understand that kind of man and will keep him and let him have his young meat. As long as he obeys the rules. Other wives get divorced and move on.
DeleteDonald has used Ivanka (paid a great deal of money for her to look good) as a sex lure. She did business in Russia for a time. Ivanka may have grown into a pimp of sorts for her father. He would trust her to find people he could use for whatever his sex fetishes are. Ivanka could school and prep her friend, like Hope, to know what service she would be doing. By the time it comes together there are no surprises and the money is great. #MAGA

ReplyDeleteStarting to sound a bit like new age McCarthyism.
Yeah I was waiting for somebody to mention that, and there is clearly a danger of going that far.

DeleteI think Hope Hicks will tow the Trump Kingdom line. She has been with him a long long time before he needed to be President.I do hope your right.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Business Insider, Hope Hicks stayed in a FREE apartment in a Trump apartment during the campaign.
DeleteHow convenient is that - and how suspicious.
If Hicks is paid enough or she is one of his concubines she will not give up anything to hurt the business. She must be very trainable or she would not be so close to the family.
DeleteThis is her family and she will be as loyal or more than Ivanka, Jared or any of them. She knows she is not blood and what she must do to be of value.
Totally agree with you 1:17. For better or worse, Ivanka and Jared have each other, yuck, and Ivanka has her father...since everyone knows she is (for whatever reasons) his favorite child.
DeleteJavanka may wind up "penniless", depending upon what happens with the 666 building, the Trump brand and who all goes to prison.
Diaper Don and Eric (dumb and dumber) have each other, their own biological families and probably a little money stashed away, even if the Orange Oaf throws them under the bus.
Donnie dRumpf and his third wife don't particularly like each other and he doesn't seem to care for his son Barron; he would probably like to trade the speech stealer in for a much younger girlfriend/wife-wanna-be who would worship his money AND him.
There is no love lost between Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric and their second step mother Melania and her child--since those two may cause Daddy Trump's money to be split more ways.
Poor Tiffany always has been and always will be a nobody in this family. She is "Tiffany who?", dragged out for photo ops during the campaign, with a "what am I doing here" look on her face, a complete outsider. Tiffany is soon forgotten...after she is given just enough money to keep herself occupied and more importantly, out of the way of the important people.
No doubt Hope Hicks is keenly aware of the Trump family dynamics and knows she must be loyal to DJT at all costs, if she is to benefit in the long run. She will claim ignorance even when she is caught in lie after lie. Hope will do ANYTHING for DJT because he demands loyalty (even though he never gives it). She is young and a gold digger just like Melania once was.
Pretty sure she won't.
ReplyDeleteShe's Trump's mistress. Has been infatuated with him since Ivanka introduced the two.
She'll just continue to lie and lie and contradict herself and get herself all tied up in perjury.
But she won't give up the Dullard. The men will turn and sell out to save themselves, but she'll fall on her sword to protect her lord and master.

DeletePanicking GOP Might Postpone Alabama Senate Election As Roy Moore Crumbles
ReplyDeleteRepublicans in Alabama and across the country are panicking as the state’s GOP Senate candidate, Roy Moore, crumbles under explosive new allegations about his sexual relationship with teenagers while he was in his 30s.
According to the New York Times, GOP lawmakers are so privately terrified of losing what should be a safe Republican seat that they’re pushing Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey to postpone the election altogether.
More from the report: “Republican senators and their advisers, in a flurry of phone calls, emails and text messages, discussed fielding a write-in candidate, pushing Alabama’s governor to delay the Dec. 12 special election or even not seating Mr. Moore at all should he be elected.”
...After immediately calling the charges a hit job carried out by Democrats and the “fake news,” Moore now seems to be in the “I do not recall” phase of the scandal. In an interview with Sean Hannity, he said he “does not generally” engage in sexual activity with teenagers.
As Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu tweeted on Friday, the rough translation of that answer from Moore is: “I do not generally engage in pedophilia. Just sometimes.”

Republicans Try to Block Moore’s Path as Candidate Denies Sexual Misconduct
Senate Republicans scrambled on Friday to find a way to block Roy S. Moore’s path to the Senate, exploring extraordinary measures to rid themselves of their own nominee in Alabama after accusations emerged that he had made sexual advances on four teenage girls when he was in his 30s.
...For their part, Democrats appear to be ready to join the fray. The party had been holding back, in part out of fear that getting involved could nationalize the election and compromise Mr. Jones’s brand as an independent-minded local candidate.
But on Friday, Democratic donors appeared increasingly interested in the race. Stephen J. Cloobeck, a Nevada hotel magnate who contributed $500,000 last year to a Senate-focused Democratic “super PAC,” described Mr. Moore as “despicable” and said he would gladly direct money to Mr. Jones.
“If there’s an event, I will participate, because I have a 14-year-old little girl, and if anyone touched her, I’d kill them,” Mr. Cloobeck said. “I’d kill them.”

Delete‘Everyone thought it was weird’: Deputy DA who served with Moore confirms ‘he dated high school girls’
ccording to a series of tweets from CNN senior national correspondent Alexander Marquardt, a Florida attorney who served as a deputy district attorney alongside Roy Moore has come forward to allege inappropriate behavior from the Republican senate nominee.
“It was common knowledge that Roy dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird,” former Deputy DA Theresa Jones reportedly told CNN. “We wondered why someone his age would hang out at high school football games and the mall.”
“Late 70’s and 80’s – at that time and atmosphere it was weird he was dating teenagers but you really wouldn’t say anything to someone like that,” Jones continued.
Marquardt was following up on a comment left on the Gadsden Times website story on the allegations against Roy Moore.
“I was a deputy DA in Gadsden with Roy Moore. I have no doubt these stories have validity,” Teresa D. Jones of Sarasota posted. “Roy was known to eschew dating his own age and preferred teenagers.”
“I challenge all of my colleagues in the Bar and on the bench at that time to come forward to support that Roy Moore should not be elected to represent the place of my birth and my home for many years,” Jones concluded.

...So the Alabama Republican Party is on the horns of another dilemma. Republican leaders in the Washington swamp are telling them to dump Mr. Moore. Local Trump supporters are telling them to ignore “fake news” and stand up for Alabama. Mr. Strange is lurking in the wings, feeding speculation that he could save his party’s respectability from Mr. Moore and Steve Bannon as a write-in candidate. But a split between Moore loyalists and Strange write-ins would hand the election to Mr. Jones, something that Mr. Trump can ill afford after the roughing up he took on Tuesday.

Roy Moore Didn’t Deny Kissing Teenagers as 30-Year-Old in Call With Lawmaker
As a political firestorm raged over allegations that he had been romantically involved with teens, Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore appeared on Sean Hannity’s radio show Friday. Asked whether he had dated 17- or 18-year-old girls while he was in his 30s, Moore said he didn’t remember. “If I did, I’m not going to dispute these things, but I don’t remember anything like that,” he added.
The statement likely didn’t do his embattled candidacy any favors—even though Moore did deny having been involved with a 14-year-old. And it turns out he couldn’t deny relations with underage women in a phone call with a US senator after the show.
According to three sources briefed on the call, Moore could not deny “kissing” or “dating” teenagers while in his thirties.

Delete...When I called for conservatives to disassociate themselves from Judge Roy Moore, the response from so many Bannonistas was depressing in its vacuity. But he’s a True Conservative®! No, he’s not. But he loves the Constitution! No, he doesn’t. He’s a real Christian! Really? He’ll fight for the Trump agenda! He will? Trump supported his more conservative opponent, and Moore didn’t even know what DACA was and he opposed Obamacare repeal. And, of course, Shut up, you anti-Christian bigot! All of this was hogwash then, and it’s hogwash now. What mattered is that people invested in Moore a meaning and symbolism he doesn’t deserve: He is one of us and he is against them. He’s not a person, he’s a talisman, a dashboard saint to a cause. I’m pretty sure Luther Strange is a conservative, a Christian, and a Constitutionalist. What he’s not is a thumb in the eye. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve written about the unfolding corruption of conservatism these last few years, but the events of the last 24 hours have shocked me about how deep the rot goes.

No, Roy Moore Is Not Entitled to Due Process Before We Believe the Claims Against Him
...I don’t know if Roy Moore is guilty of the committing the heinous acts outlined in the Washington Post report. At this point, however, I’m concerned to the point where I believe the claims are disqualifying, and I’m even more concerned after hearing his bizarre responses to Sean Hannity’s questions yesterday. I don’t have to wait for a trial to make that judgment, and neither do you. Due process does not apply.

These women aren’t props for your partisan gotcha tweets.
DeleteThe allegations against Roy Moore are disgusting — and if you find yourself reluctant to say so because of your politics, then you’re pretty gross, too. The Leigh Corfman story, reported by the Washington Post, is about so much more than just some older guy having a relationship with some younger girl. That, of course, would be bad enough — many girls haven’t even had their f***ing periods at age 14 — but this is also about a man who abuses his power to prey on the powerless. It’s about a respected district attorney finding a girl in a vulnerable position (waiting with her mother outside of a child-support hearing) and relishing in the opportunity to take advantage of it. It’s a sick story that is all too common, and one that will continue to be common if we refuse to speak out against it. Now, I’ve had far too many people shouting, “Guilty until proven innocent!” at me over my comments on this issue, as if they’re too dumb to know that the second half of that phrase is “in a court of law.” Not to blow your mind here, but I’m actually not a court of law, and I’m allowed to believe whatever I want — and personally, I believe that Roy Moore was a predator with a penchant for teenage girls. No, not because I’m some p***y-hat-wearing snowflake (as eloquent as that argument is) but because of logic. As my colleague David French notes, there are a lot of reasons to believe these allegations: There are multiple accusers. These women didn’t come to the press seeking attention, they simply answered the questions when the press came to them. They have witnesses corroborating their stories. Finally, the woman with the most serious allegations, Leigh Corfman, voted for Donald Trump in 2016 — making the political-hit-job storyline laughable at best.

DeleteThe U.S. Embassy in Moscow has awarded a $2.83 million contract to a security firm founded by a former KGB agent who worked with Vladimir Putin and British double agent Kim Philby. A post on a U.S. state procurement site says Elite Security Holdings will provide “local guard services for US mission Russia,” which will include embassies in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok and Yekaterinburg. Russian business daily Kommersant reported Friday that the U.S. embassy hired the firm after Moscow reduced the number of staff allowed in U.S., missions, prompting the U.S. to replace its former staff with personnel from Elite Security Holdings. The company was founded in 1997 by Viktor Budanov, a former major general in Russia’s foreign intelligence service who headed a KGB branch in East Germany where Putin worked in the 1980s, according to Kommersant. Budanov has said he also worked with British defector Philby. He has also been accused by one former colleague of teaching Bulgarian agents how to use poison to target dissidents.

...Trump’s staff has been able to keep him from rage-tweeting during the trip, and they’d largely managed to keep him away from reporters. However, that all changed today when Trump opened his mouth and tried to explain how he knows that Russian President Vladimir Putin didn’t rig the election his behalf: “Every time he sees me he says, ‘I didn’t do that,’ and I believe, I really believe that when he tells me that, he means it. But he says, ‘I didn’t do that.’ I think he is very insulted by it, which is not a good thing for our country.”
ReplyDeleteThat remark is such a monumental mistake on Trump’s part, he might as well have simply yelled “I’m guilty.” Trump is now squarely taking the word of a foreign enemy over the word of every smart person in the United States. The quote shook Americans so thoroughly that “Putin” immediately became the top trending topic on Twitter. Just to make clear where his loyalties lie, Trump went even further, dismissing the U.S. intelligence community as being a bunch of “political hacks.”

Historian shreds Trump for dissing his own countrymen when he should be celebrating veterans
ReplyDeleteDuring an appearance on CNN, Brinkley was asked if there had ever been another time in U.S. history when the president seemed so divided from the opinion of “seemingly everyone else.”
“No. It’s kooky,” he replied. “Here we are on what should be a Veteran’s Day moment with the President of the United States in Vietnam… he should have been talking about the service of Marines, Air Force, Army and Navy in Vietnam on Veteran’s Day and instead he’s backing the KGB and Putin in dissing his own CIA on foreign soil.”
“It’s an utter disaster,” Brinkley continued. “The trip had some momentum going and Donald Trump step in it again. He cannot accept the fact that maybe his election had an asterisk by it. Maybe Russian interference… means he is not a real president.”
“But to do that in this kind of way, attack your own CIA when you’re on an Asian trip is unbelievable.”

ReplyDeleteNN on Saturday showed a supercut of Donald Trump’s own appointees contradicting his claims about Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
The president has insisted that the Russians played no role in getting him elected to the White House and didn’t interfere with the campaigns in 2016.
The supercut featured Trump’s CIA director Mike Pompeo, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, and National Security Agency director Michael Rogers.

Trump’s wildly self-incriminating Russia/Putin statements also lend credence to theory that dementia is in the mix.

Hope Hicks traveled with Trump throughout the campaign and since the beginning of his presidency. Why? Prior to her promotion to Communications Director, there was no job related reason for her to travel with Trump or for her to have been given a free apartment at a Trump property. Who else on the campaign had a free apartment from Trump?
ReplyDeleteThis woman is a joke. However, I smell a book deal in her future.
