Courtesy of Newsweek:
Donald Trump is hemorrhaging support among the American people, and now more than 40 percent of them think it's time to start the process to impeach him, a new poll finds. The number is higher than the percentage of Americans who said they planned to vote for the president in the 2020 election.
The NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey, out Wednesday, carried very little good news for the president and put him on notice that 41 percent of Americans believe there is enough reason for Congress to hold impeachment hearings, even before the conclusion of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.
The poll found that 70 percent of Democrats, 40 percent of independents and even 7 percent of Republicans The number of people calling for impeachment proceedings to get underway closely parallels the 38 percent of Americans who believe Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.are in favor of the hearings.
Americans' desire for impeachment wasn't the only bad news for Trump in this poll. If he does survive his first term without being impeached, his chances of re-election are looking extremely bleak.
Just 36 percent of respondents said they would probably or definitely vote for Trump against a generic Democratic candidate. Conversely, 52 percent said they would probably or definitely "vote for the other party." Such numbers would clearly leave Trump with no path toward a second term.
Damn! You know that is going to drive Trump a little further over the bend.
What an ugly man, inside and out.
ReplyDeleteImpeachment is the ONLY answer to rid ourselves of this un-American!
If Trump is to be impeached, Democrats need to do it in a precise way. First: win back the Senate and House. Second: appoint a new generational Speaker of the House and Senate Protem. Third: Bring down Pence. Fourth: Impeach Trump
ReplyDeleteThey’ll never do #2.
DeleteTo which I ask again, what does he care? He won w/o the popular vote. They know how to do it, and they’ll do it again in a heartbeat.
ReplyDelete2018 midterms, vote OUT the GOP!
They’ll be hard pressed to win Florida this time. Not after what they’ve done to Puerto Rico.
DeletePlus the Tax Scam is going to hurt a lot of retired people on fixed incomes. That’s also Florida.
i'll just leave this here:

GOP owns the House. Dotard Don owns House GOP. I don’t see any traction for impeachment until that changes.
ReplyDeleteThat depends.
DeleteThey don’t need him to sign stuff. Pence will do that.
Once Donald becomes more of a liability, like obvious to even an idiot, that he’s committed impeachable offenses, they’ll cut him loose because he’ll do them more harm than good in 2018 or 2020. He’s already at that point.
It’s probably why Bitch McConnell is making noises about bipartisanship with the Democrats after the new year. He’s doing damage control and hopes it will be enough for people to forget what they’ve done and tried to do to them for the past year. November 2018 isn’t that far away and their own people are angry at them for what they’ve done and what they’ve tried to do. They’ll have to haul ass to try to get the voters to forget. After 2018 they’ll be screwed because the Tax Scam will kick in and there will be nothing they can do to blame the Democrats of that one. It was all on them. And every year the Democrats will remind them that their lousy life is a result of what the Republicans did to them in the great Trump Tax Scam of December 2017.
Dotard don will impeach himself.
ReplyDeleteHe is not a happy camper in that job! He had no clue he'd receive such negative feedback, disrespect and low poll ratings. (Which are all well deserved in my humble opinion!) He is not qualified, in any way, for the job.

"key here. The meme among political journalists was that the key to Trump’s victory was tapping into the alienation of the middle class. But the real secret was that the GOP establishment got behind him when they realized Trump could play the suckers in the middle class in order to advance their personal and corporate enrichment agenda. In other words, they used Trump’s appeal with those who were struggling to feather their own nests."

ReplyDelete"President Trump signed a bill Thursday ordering $4 billion in "top of the line missile defense," before signing the $1.5 trillion GOP tax legislation. Now he's jetting off to Mar-a-Lago for the holidays.
Timing: Trump said he was planning to sign the bill in January, but after watching the news this morning and seeing "every one of the networks" ask if he will he keep his promise and sign it before Christmas, he "called everyone up and said get ready we have to sign this now ... I didn't want you folks to say I wasn't keeping my promise."
What's next: Trump said they'll have a formal signing ceremony in two weeks.
Key quotes:
Trump said his friend Robert Kraft, CEO of the New England Patriots, called him to praise him for the tax bill, and promised to build a "tremendous paper mill" in North Carolina after the news.
"I think that essentially Obamacare is over because we got rid of [the individual mandate]."
He made nice with reporters: "Many of you have worked very fairly."
He wants to see a lot more bipartisanship in 2018.
But they don’t have enough money to re-authorize CHIP.
DeleteThat needs to be hammered home to voters every single time.
Missiles over children.
Tax cuts for the rich over children.
The “wall” over children.
Every Democratic candidate should kick the DNC and Tom Perez in the ass and run like the Republicans run; stop being polite, blame them over and over, don’t mince words, name call, fight DIRTY. Use that Republican play book, own it. No more Mr. Nice Guy. There is plenty of fodder for mud so SLING IT!
And remember that you are on your own. The Democratic leadership has shown that they won’t support you if you’re not wealthy, Wall St. or an insider. If you aren’t a “sure thing” they won’t waste their time or money. So don’t count on them for anything. Do it all yourself. And when you have won, don’t be polite about it. Don’t allow the Democratic leadership to take credit for all of the work you’ve done. If you did it on your own, brag about it Point out that you did it all on your own, withe help of your own people, your locals, your boots on the ground.

The past two days I’ve read some speculation online that Joe Biden may be considering considering a 2020 run. More great news!
ReplyDeletePlease dear Jesus, I need Uncle Joe to run. This country is so messed up right now.
DeleteSorry, but Joe doesn’t have the personality we need to win against the current Death Party. He also has too much baggage, much of it on tape.
DeleteHe is a really nice guy and would make a fabulous president. But he would be a nightmare to get elected. We don’t need another “sure thing” loss like Hillary.
They need to find a candidate that is not east coast. They need someone from the middle of America.
Gee, if only the DNC had gotten behind Keith Ellison instead of kicking him to the curb. He might be viable in 2020 or 2024.
They better forget Gillibrand. Too many will NOT support her after what she did to Franken. I’m reading it all over in comments on news articles. I certainly won’t vote for her. Or Kamala Harris either.
Joe does have the advantage that a lot of Republicans like him and would probable vote for him.
DeleteNo the DNC does not need Ellison.
Joe does have the advantage that a lot of Republicans like him and would probable vote for him, especially over trump.
DeleteNo the DNC does not need Ellison.
The republicans would have had a field day with Ellison and is past connections with the nation of islam, just what we don't need
DeleteThis might be a perfect opportunity for a Latino candidate to swing hundreds of thousands of former Republican voters to the Democratic side.
DeleteThere are a lot of Hispanics who have traditionally supported the GOP because of the issue of abortion. However, after this administration essentially abandoned the people of Puerto Rico after the hurricane, they may decide that ignoring the desperate plight of fellow American citizens because they're brown and speak Spanish is more offensive than allowing a woman to choose what happens to her body.
I've seen Julian Castro's name mentioned numerous times in connection with the 2020 race. He would also have the advantage of a Texas connection, which could bring some of those votes in as well. He's young and dynamic and would help to energize the younger voters who tend to sit out most elections.
As much as I love Joe and think he could repair a lot of the damage the current administration is inflicting on the country and the world, I believe he has too much baggage.
DeleteWith the intense scrutiny that people in the public eye, especially politicians, are facing regarding their behavior towards women, Joe has too much history of saying and doing things that could be perceived as inappropriate and has been roundly criticized for how he treated Anita Hill during the Clarence Thomas hearings.
As much as I want trump impeached, I think it would be better to wait until the Mueller investigation is over, after all we wouldn’t want him to get away without being charged on ALL counts.
ReplyDeletebig surprise.
