Over the summer Donald Trump repeatedly urged Senate Republicans to end their Russian investigation.

Courtesy of the New York Times:

President Trump over the summer repeatedly urged senior Senate Republicans, including the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, to end the panel’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, according to a half dozen lawmakers and aides. Mr. Trump’s requests were a highly unusual intervention from a president into a legislative inquiry involving his family and close aides.

Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina, the intelligence committee chairman, said in an interview this week that Mr. Trump told him that he was eager to see an investigation that has overshadowed much of the first year of his presidency come to an end.

“It was something along the lines of, ‘I hope you can conclude this as quickly as possible,’” Mr. Burr said. He said he replied to Mr. Trump that “when we have exhausted everybody we need to talk to, we will finish.”

In addition, according to lawmakers and aides, Mr. Trump told Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, and Senator Roy Blunt, Republican of Missouri and a member of the intelligence committee, to end the investigation swiftly.

Well my friends that smells an awful lot like  obstructionism to me.

And don't forget that Trump fired James Comey for refusing to end the FBI investigation, and that Devin Nunes has been working to sabotage the House investigation, as well.

It seems like every single day there is more evidence to support impeachment.

Net Neutrality will still be abolished. The National Monuments will still be reduced and handed over into private hands to be raped for profit.

That Tax Deform will have gone through.

Even if we get rid of him now, he will still have damaged this country almost beyond repair.

These admissions also corroborate Comey’s testimony about Trump in the private meetings. There are a string of Trump communications and his tweets dismissing revelations of the inquiries as “fake news” that are evidence of obstruction of justice. Firing people who would not shut up or look the other way or bury information are nails in Trump’s coffin.

Senate Republicans Are Trying To Hide Mike Pence Because They Are Worried That He’ll Be Asked About Mike Flynn

The reason why Senate Republicans are trying to get more than the 50 votes needed for their tax cut for the rich is that they want to keep Mike Pence from having to come to the Senate because they are afraid reporters will him about Mike Flynn.

The Nature of Flynn’s Plea Deal Suggests He Has Very Good Information For Mueller

'...94/ Every attorney with experience in criminal law now presumes—and factors into their analyses—that Mueller has sufficient information to indict the POTUS. He wouldn't have given Flynn this sort of deal otherwise. All of us should be acting carefully, with that thought in mind.'

Trump White House Furiously Tries To Distance Itself From Michael Flynn

They are trying to shift the blame to Obama. Seriously.

...Two days after the November election, President Barack Obama warned Trump not to hire Flynn. Obama had fired him from his job as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency. Trump appointed Flynn to the high-ranking job anyway.

So Cobb is right that Flynn served in the Obama administration. But even when Obama tried to help his successor out by urging him to cut ties with Flynn, Trump refused to listen.

Then shortly after Trump took office, on Jan. 26, acting Attorney General Sally Yates became concerned that Vice President Mike Pence was publicly denying that Flynn had discussed U.S. sanctions on Russia with that country’s ambassador before Trump was inaugurated.

Yates told the White House official that Flynn was lying to them; federal officials had evidence that he had, indeed, discussed sanctions. She warned them that he could be subject to blackmail from the Russians and therefore a national security risk.

Nevertheless, the White House kept him on board as national security adviser. Trump fired him only after the news of Yates’ warning became public. Trump later fired Yates for refusing to defend his travel ban.

Despite knowing about Flynn’s lying, Trump continued to defend him. Former FBI Director James Comey said when he met with Trump on Feb. 14, the president asked him to ease up on Flynn.

“I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go,” Comey recalled Trump saying.

Trump later fired Comey and has hinted that it was because he was upset the FBI director wouldn’t stop the Russia investigation.

Trump has held out hope that Flynn will be able to come back to him, and even told aides that he thinks firing him was a mistake.

James Comey Basks In The Glow Of Michael Flynn’s Downfall

The former FBI director tweeted a Bible verse just after Flynn pleaded guilty.

Former FBI Director James Comey is a shade king.

In response to former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s guilty plea Friday on a charge of lying to the FBI, Comey tweeted and Instagrammed a verse from the Bible about the virtues of justice.

“But let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream,” the message says.

His Instagram post features a lovely photograph of the Great Falls of the Potomac:

...Comey doesn’t tweet often, but he certainly does so with purpose.

  23. Not sure about the Senate or the House, but it looks ilke Mueller is heading toward the finish line.

First Flynn, then Kushner. How many does he have left to go?

(Sessions and Pence would be nice.)

Maybe Rex Tillerson doesn’t have anything to fear after all. He may outlast everyone. He might manage to get rid of Paul Ryan if he’s implicated but I’m afraid there’s probably nothing on Orrin Hatch.

It will be the country’s undoing if Orrin Hatch becomes president. After all of this fascist shit, a year of misery and finally getting rid of the to be left with Orrin Hatch as president? And Republicans still in charge of both houses?
