The CEO and founder of Papa John's Pizza has been fired months after publicly criticizing NFL players for kneeling during national anthem.

Courtesy of WDRB:

Papa John's says its founder John Schnatter will step down as CEO next month, about two months after he publicly criticized the NFL leadership over national anthem protests by football players.

The company said Thursday that Schnatter remains chairman but will be replaced as chief executive by Chief Operating Officer Steve Ritchie on Jan. 1.

Schnatter had blamed slowing sales growth on the outcry surrounding NFL players kneeling during the national anthem. Papa John's International Inc. is an NFL sponsor and advertiser. Schnatter also said at the time that customers had a negative view of the chain's association with the NFL.

The comments drew praise from white supremacists and the company apologized two weeks later.

So I guess we can assume that Papa John's was not terribly pleased with their new designation as the white supremacist's pizza of choice

Gee, what a shame.

I have to say that I NEVER liked this Schnatter dude, even before he let his racist flag fly.

I'm also going to say that I am never eating that shitty pizza.

Even if they aren't racist POS, they still make crappy pizza.

Papa John's pizza is even worse than the normal pablum served up by Domino's and Pizza Hut.

Absolute garbage, just like the CEO

Their pizza was never great, but it was much better than Domino's...the two pizza places in my town. Once he started yapping about health insurance, we dropped Papa John's and now make frozen pizza.

I also may be the only one that doesn't care if the NFL tanks or not. So WHAT if they kneel? Isn't worshiping a flag, evangelicals, a false idol?

Don't forget that Tim Tebow disobeyed Jesus by making a public showing of his faith on the football field and the fundagelicals ate that up with a spoon.

Respecting flag and country is not, per your words, 'worship'. Some people feel strongly about patriotism to the country and what the symbolic gestures mean, some do not.

@9:22 " open the eyes of the public to a serious and generally unchecked issue: billionaire NFL owners sponging enormous amounts of money from taxpayers through crony capitalist schemes.

The fact is that a business that raked in $14 billion in revenue in 2016 is heavily subsidized by local, state, and federal money based on dubious claims about stimulating the economy.

      The problem is rampant.

One report on Watchdog.org said that over the past two decades, the NFL has raked in about $7 billion of taxpayer money to spend on stadium renovation and building."

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Tillman

"Tillman turned down a contract offer of $3.6 million over three years from the Cardinals to enlist in the U.S. Army"
"Tillman did not want to be used for propaganda purposes. He spoke to friends about his opposition to President Bush and the Iraq war, and he had made an appointment with notable government critic Noam Chomsky for after his return from the military. The destruction of evidence linked to Tillman's death, including his personal journal, led his mother to speculate that he was murdered.[32] General Wesley Clark agreed that it was "very possible."[32][33]

According to Prof. Michael I. Niman:[34]

As both wars droned on, Tillman, the picture perfect recruiting poster boy, evolved into somewhat of a wild card. With a Chomsky meeting on the horizon, there existed a very real possibility that Tillman might go public with his anti-war anti-Bush stance in the weeks leading up to the 2004 presidential election, dealing a fatal blow to the very foundation of the Bush administration's propaganda pyramid. That day, however, never came. On April 22nd, 2004, Tillman was killed on patrol in Afghanistan by three American bullets to the head."

  7. The ex-CEO looks like the type to molest the dough before patting it ever so gently into a pan before he spits on it.

He looks pervy to me, imho. Make a great addition to a certain Wasilla hillbilly clan.

  10. Easiest boycott on my list - there's no Papa John's within many miles of me or a Little Caesar's either. (Anybody know if they're good?) We got Dominos and Pizza Hut, but as you might guess, the neighborhood 'mom & pop,' "Roma's" readily outdoes the nationals.

I'd be curious what your neighborhood mom and pop owners think about the kneeling. From my memories, the local owned 'actual Italian' pizza joints I grew up around in Chicago were fiercely patriotic, and I know exactly what would come out of their mouths regarding kneeling and protesting the flag and National Anthem.

Then you gently remind them that kneeling had nothing to do with the flag or anthem.

The pizza does suck and always has....

But he is a racist because he has an opinion? A man is not allowed to speak his opinion freely regarding standing for the flag- without being coined a racist unless it agrees with yours?

This is the exact problem with liberals and their SJW leaders. Bunch of fucking sheep that can't think logically or even attempt to understand another mans opinion.

    But the pizza does suck.

You do realize that the kneeling wasn't about the flag or anthem? And getting on that band wagon suggests that one is racist considering what the kneeling is actually about. It seems your the one who is sheep like and can't think logically.

6:23, the response to that is.... if the kneeling wasn't about the flag or anthem.... THEN WHY THE HELL ARE THEY DOING IT DURING THE ANTHEM?

The reality is they are a bunch of morons that are biting the hand that feeds them. They'll find that out soon enough.

      Grow a brain!!!!

OT?'om Hanks, who said he would refuse an invitation to the White House if it held a screening for his new film, The Post. The film is about the Washington Post's battle with the Nixon administration over publishing the Pentagon Papers.

"Look, I didn't think things were going to be this way last November," Hanks told the Hollywood Reporter. "I would not have been able to imagine that we would be living in a country where neo-Nazis are doing torchlight parades in Charlottesville and jokes about Pocahontas are being made in front of the Navajo code talkers. And individually, we have to decide when we take to the ramparts."
