Until today, John Goldman was a Senior Manager of Finance, Analysis and Strategy for the Washington, DC Public Charter School Board. But today Goldman was suspended pending investigation after photos surfaced of him at parties with known neonazis and white supremacists as the pseudonymous "Jack Murphy," self-proclaimed liberal-turned-conservative in the age of Trump.
"Murphy," it seems, was a foe of Richard Spencer. Still it appears they share some fundamental beliefs, though Murphy/Goldman claims he was a Democrat who now has a man-crush on Trump. Apparently former Democrats can be white supremacist men's rights advocates too!
John Goldman has now admitted that his online alter ego is "Jack Murphy," but remains unapologetic about his stated beliefs and why he holds them.
By the way here are some of this stated beliefs:
"Men have a natural tendency towards dominance and women to passivity and submission," Murphy wrote in 2015. "For a feminist who has rejected polarity and embraced sameness, this presents a paradox. The cognitive dissonance between her chosen dogma and the urge to get choked during sex is painful."
This is the argument for his central premise, which is simple: "Rape is the best therapy for the problem. Feminists need rape."
But he is quick to qualify this by claiming that all feminists need is a man who loves her to rape her but not in a totally evil "illegal alien" rapey way, but a loving rape. Consensual, even.
"Loving, consensual rape" is a new one on me.
But wait, there's more:
"However, the tragedy of a young girl getting raped in the bathroom at school just might be what turns the attention of limousine liberals from the brainwashing narrative of the Democrats and towards a more sane approach to immigration," "Murphy" wrote in a Medium post last year.
"Let’s just hope it will only take one, and not an epidemic of heinous crime to finally get those suburban soccer moms out of their denial and into the real world," he continued.
Yeah, anybody else picking up on a rapey theme here?

Keep in mind this guy worked for the Washington, DC "school board."

Ah yes. Those fabulous charter schools. Rake in as much cash as they can, hand it to unqualified school leaders and not the children, and be accountable to no one. Considering the crimes they committed warranted the death penalty, I'm not too upset their life is a living hell. If they'd rather a quick death, that would certainly save the taxpayer. But that would also eliminate the one or two wrongly convicted criminals that are on death row.

School board members are ELECTED and usually have no training or experience with education or public schools aside from having attended one at some point. Maybe.
ReplyDeleteRealtors, dry cleaners, used car salesmen, etc. run for school board and win seats. They then go on to make education policy for trained and experienced educators with masters degrees.
School board members don't even have to have a high school diploma. They just have to get enough votes to win a seat.
Stupid, huh?
This archaic system needs some major overhaul. Like the school year, it goes back centuries to an agrarian society where the children had to have time off to help bring in the harvest and "teachers" were simply last year's graduates filling in until they got married since they were usually women. Because of this, it was felt they weren't capable of managing money or choosing curriculum, etc. So local business people formed board to manage the teachers.
It's ass backwards now with teachers being more highly trained and educated than the school board members dictating to them.
School boards have also become more politicized. They're supposed to be non-partisan but plenty of voters have been blindsided when a newly elected school board member comes out as a fundamentalist and proceeds to dismantle the Science curriculum. There was a lot of creationists running for boards and getting elected a few years ago.
Sometimes there is no method to recall them when it comes out.
Our public school system needs a lot of revision to modernize. Schools board are just the start. School year is another. School day a third. Structure of grade levels, performance evaluation, competency requirements.
Of course, none of this is going to happen under Betsy DeVos. None of it was addressed by the Obama administration either.
No Child Left Behind was the exact opposite direction and the continued standardized testing is a waste of resources and time for no purpose at all, unless dismantling the public school system is your ultimate goal.
It is amazing our teachers and our students do as well as they do under this dysfunctional system.
