Devin Nunes' own hometown newspaper rips him a new one.

Courtesy of of Alternet:

Fresno, CA’s daily newspaper the Fresno Bee on Friday ripped into House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) for “doing the dirty work” on behalf of Donald Trump’s White House.

In a scathing editorial, the Fresno Bee charged Nunes with failing to represent his constituents in California by “waving around a secret memo attacking the FBI” instead of focusing on “health care, jobs” and Dreamers.

“Instead, he’s doing dirty work for House Republican leaders trying to protect President Donald Trump in the Russia investigation,” the Fresno Bee wrote.

The editorial noted the timing of Nunes’ secret memo, which coincided with reports special counsel Robert Mueller is honing in on possible obstruction of justice by the president, having interviewed former FBI Director James Comey and Attorney General Jeff Session last week.

“Nunes of Tulare is sheltered in a relatively safe Republican district, and may believe he will pay no political price for unfairly attacking law enforcement and protecting Trump,” the Fresno Bee wrote. “But his performance as chairman of the highly sensitive House Intelligence Committee has been nothing short of embarrassing.”

Nunes has a strong Democratic challenger for this next election in the form of a Fresno County Deputy District Attorney, so Nunes may have sacrificed his political career in a desperate attempt to defend the Kremlin's puppet in the White House.

Kind of makes you wonder why, doesn't it?

Sorry, but you don't have your facts right.

The RWNJs in California don't want to secede, they want to split off the northeastern section to form a 51st state. It's nothing more than an attempt to gerrymand the Senate, since it would give RWNJs another pair of senators, not to mention more Electoral College votes.

Fresno is in central CA, not in the "State of Jefferson" area.

BREAKING: Putin had Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny arrested today, helping ensure that he wins re-election. This comes as Trump continues to demand that his political opponents are investigated and jailed. This isn't a coincidence. It's how dictators work

  4. Nunes is a disgusting toady. If that fuckwit manages to lose his seat this year I'm sure Trumpy would keep the pathetic deep throated sycophant close by with some cabinet appointment. GAWD I HATE NUNES!

Last march when Nunes started his skullduggery I started reading up on him. He has a winery that has Russian ties. Also he was part of twitler's transition team. Remember there was a FISA warrant out for Flynn etc and I wonder if he wasn't caught doing something very illegal in league with the Russians. There is a hysteria to him now that makes me think he is far beyond protecting trump and moved on to covering his own ass .

Any criminal defense attorney who's ever represented a client *so* guilty that the phrase "dead to rights" is richly applicable (which is all of us) can answer this question without difficulty. Why is Mr. Trump so afraid of the truth? Because the truth impeaches and convicts him.

Trump getting coaching from legal team for Mueller interview - they even hired a "fake Mueller." Trump won't let him work, though - keeps walking out when tough Q's get asked.

"The Collins flip is strong indication that if a bill to protect the Special Counsel was brought to the Senate floor for a vote, it stands a good chance of passing. The Tillis/Coons bill would allow the Special Counsel only to be fired by the most senior non-recused Justice Department official. The Graham/Booker bill is stronger in that it requires the attorney general to go before a three-judge panel, and the special counsel can only be removed if the panel finds, “misconduct, dereliction of duty, incapacity, conflict of interest or other good cause.”

Both of these bills would make it much more difficult for Trump to fire Mueller, and it probable that steps are going to need to be taken to prevent the President from firing the special counsel that is investigating him and plunging the country into a constitutional crisis.

The Collins shift is a red flag for this White House."

"Trump did, in fact, order McGahn to fire Mueller, a directive first reported Thursday by the New York Times. But McGahn told West Wing staff — though not the president — that he would quit before carrying out Trump’s directive, and the president ultimately backed down, people familiar with the events said.

This seems like a minor detail. But at least based on my understanding it is a quite different version of the story than the one reported by the Times last week. The entirety of that account, certainly the sense of drama and confrontation, was based on McGahn telling Trump no and backing his no up with a threat to resign. Trump backed down."
" This account says McGahn told fellow West Wing staffers, though not the President. It sounds much more like a general statement than an ultimatum: ‘I’d resign before I’d do that.’"
"If he didn’t tell Trump, what happened exactly? It’s not clear."
"This makes it sound much more like McGahn just pocket vetoed Trump’s directive. It also raises the possibility that McGahn or his allies floated the Times version of the story and included a deceptively aggressive (and exculpating) version of events." WORDS MATTER!

"you see what's happening here? The more we talk about texts and jokes and memos, the further we get from Trump dishonesty, his unstable behavior, and his attempts to undermine the Russia probes. This is what it means to have two different universes of information."

  16. Nunes isn’t safe.

Issa has already decided not to run again because he knows he’ll lose this time.

Hell, yeah, Republicans can stop assuming they’ll automatically get elected. Even their own will turn on them when they stop representing the people and only shill for Corporations and their own wealthy elites. Tables turned.

Maybe the uneducated Deplorables in the south will continue to vote against their own best interests but there are Republicans that just can’t take the hypocrisy any more and will vote independent or even, horrors, for a Democrat before they’ll continue to support these lying bastards. Witness Alabama and Senator Jones.

BREAKING: All indications are that Trump—via agents in Congress—has forced the retirement of a key witness against him in an Obstruction case that could lead to impeachment. Worse, it's part of a coordinated, illegal effort to intimidate, punish, and discredit adverse witnesses.

Here's a *really* scary possibility: McCabe's ouster is part of a GOP effort to discredit the Flynn plea—as implied by this June 2017 story in the far-right Washington Times (often used as a media mouthpiece for Trump allies who need to get a message out).

    https://twitter.com/SethAbramson/status/958063886581805057

Trump fired Comey. Trump tried to fire Mueller. Trump says he wants to fire Rosenstein. Trump faced possible testimony from FBI lawyer James Baker—so Baker got reassigned. Trump tweeted invective at McCabe—McCabe was forced to retire.

When do we *wake up* and see the *pattern*?

    https://twitter.com/SethAbramson

PS5/ The NEW YORK TIMES is now confirming that, with FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe out of the way, the next Obstruction witness that Trump and his stooges in Congress plan to terrorize and discredit is Acting Attorney General Rod Rosenstein:
