Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is now completely unemployed.

Courtesy of Politico:

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon stepped down Tuesday as executive chairman of Breitbart News, a swift and stunning fall for a leading figure on the American right who was recently rebuked by President Donald Trump and abandoned by his key financial backer.

Trump publicly broke with Bannon in dramatic fashion last week, suggesting his former top adviser had “lost his mind” in response to critical comments Bannon made about members of the Trump family and campaign in Michael Wolff’s incendiary new book, “Fire and Fury.”

Breitbart's announcement came on the same day that Trump discussed comprehensive immigration reform at the White House and said he would attend the elite World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, later this month, and just weeks after he signed a bill cutting taxes for corporations and the wealthy — all moves that cut against Bannon’s nationalist, populist vision and show how his influence has waned since he was hailed as the mastermind behind Trump's 2016 victory.

“I’m proud of what the Breitbart team has accomplished in so short a period of time in building out a world-class news platform," Bannon said in a statement on Tuesday. Breitbart CEO Larry Solov said Bannon “is a valued part of our legacy, and we will always be grateful for his contributions, and what he has helped us to accomplish.”

Bannon also lost his Sirius radio show and seems to be completely without a job at this point.

And without his ties to the White House, his money from the Mercer family, or his Breitbart media platform, Bannon is now essentially a non-entity whose his former political influence is now just a memory.

This has to please the Republican establishment to no end, as Bannon was a huge supporter of Right Wing challengers.

I think this is only the first casualty from Michael Wolff's book, and the final casualty may be Donald Trump himself.

Now he can go back to his first love, making crappy political movies like The Undefeated. No matter the fancy the packaging, it was still a pig with lipstick.

Now he can make The Defeated.

Bannon looks like he is an expert in addiction. He can always find a career in counseling others about addiction.

Breitbart over ate and used drugs, he may or may not have quit when he died, but his negative life contributed to his early demise.

Why doesn't Bannon man up and start telling the truth?
Otherwise he can only go down and it looks like he may be at the bottom.

If we don’t provide even the bare minimum in evidence-based treatment, this crisis will keep getting worse.

Senate Dems issue scathing report: ‘Trump stands practically idle’ against Putin’s threat to US democracy

...The report details how the Kremlin attempted to influence politics in 19 European nations, which Senate Democrats say foreshadowed Russian meddling in the 2016 election won by Trump — who has dismissed intelligence and law enforcement findings on the topic as “fake news.”

“Never before has a U.S. president so clearly ignored such a grave and growing threat to U.S. national security,” the report warns.

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) said he hoped the report would show Americans the “true scope and scale” of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s efforts to undermine western democracies.

“While President Trump stands practically idle, Mr. Putin continues to refine his asymmetric arsenal and look for future opportunities to disrupt governance and erode support for the democratic and international institutions that the United States and Europe have built over the last 70 years,” Cardin said.

'Today I'm releasing a #RussiaReport documenting Vladimir Putin's 20-year attack on democratic institutions in his own country and Europe. To protect against what the Kremlin did to the U.S. in 2016, we need to first understand Putin's pattern.'

WATCH: Angry Trump fumes about Wolff book again — and vows to ‘take a strong look’ at libel laws

In a quick talk with reporters just before his cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Trump once again attacked author Michael Wolff and said his book’s success showed the need to strengthen libel laws in the United States so that he can more easily sue people who write unflattering things about him.

“We are going to take a strong look at our country’s libel laws so that when somebody says something that is false and defamatory about someone, that person will have meaningful recourse in our courts,” the president said. “And if somebody says something that’s totally false and knowingly false, that the person that has been abused, defamed, libeled, will have meaningful recourse.”

Instead of letting his statement end there — or even elaborating on what “taking a strong look” at libel laws would entail — Trump continued to rant about how difficult it is for public figures to sue writers in the United States.

“Our current libel laws are a sham and a disgrace and do not represent American values or American fairness,” the president claimed. “So we’re going to take a strong look at that. We want fairness. You can’t say things that are false, knowingly false and be able to smile as money pours into your bank account. We’re going to take a very, very strong look at that. And I think what the American people want to see is fairness.”

It’s Real Fuckin’ Obvious Why GOP Didn’t Want Us To Read The Fusion GPS Transcript

Let’s be clear about one thing right now. Senator Dianne Feinstein is a hero and a fucking boss for releasing that giant Fusion GPS transcript, which we spent six hours reading and blogging on Tuesday. Is she kinda too conservative for a lib state like California? SHE IS. Is she also MURDERING HER REPUBLICAN COLLEAGUES, WITH MURDER? That too!

On MSNBC Tuesday night, Lawrence O’Donnell chuckled as he remembered his time working in Congress, saying Feinstein is the LAST senator you’d expect to do something so bold. Rachel Maddow reported that RUMOR HAS IT Feinstein reached her “fuck you” point after Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and craven Trump suck-up Lindsey Graham made the first criminal referral of the entire Russia investigation, without consulting her, and it was to INVESTIGATE CHRISTOPHER STEELE, the nice spy who uncovered a lot of the Trump-Russia conspiracy and was so worried about the national security implications of what he found that he, a Brit, insisted on going to the American FBI to say “PIP PIP ACHTUNG!” or however they say “Danger!” in England. To be clear, Chris Steele The British Spy is a greater goddamn American patriot than Grassley or Graham or House Intel Committee chair Devin Nunes will ever fuckin’ be.

And what was that criminal referral about? This, presumably!
