Michelle Wolf, the headliner at this year’s White House Correspondents Association Dinner, says that she doesn’t plan to hold back on her material, even if President Donald Trump attends the event.
“What is the fun in holding back?” she told Variety on Friday. “I feel like you are not doing a job as a comedian. If you are willing to say something about someone, you should be willing to say it on Twitter, to their face, whatever. So I think if you want to say something you got to step up and say it.”
Wolf was announced as the featured entertainer at the WHCA event, scheduled for April 28 at the Washington Hilton. She recently signed for a new series on Netflix and had a popular HBO special “Michelle Wolf: Nice Lady,” and also was a contributor to “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.”
She’s been biting in her humor about Trump. Just after the election, in a bit with Noah, she quipped that Trump’s election was “the worst thing to happen to women since yeast.”
Wolf said she’s preparing for a number of scenarios, although, “I don’t think my set is going to change whether he is there or not.”
“I figure I will go in with several contingency plans,” she said. “He says he is going to go, and he doesn’t. He says he is not going to go, and then he shows up. And then he goes and he leaves in the middle. I am going to plan for all possible scenarios. I’ll be excited no matter what.”
I have to say that I was really underwhelmed with Hasan Minhaj last year, who is also a Daily Show alum, but far more excited about Michelle Wolf.
I have seen her bits on the Daily Show, and they are always good, which is more than you can say about a lot of the bits on the Daily Show these days.
I have also watched her onstage, and she is hysterical.

I actually kind of hope that Trump shows up this year just so we can see him with that same stern look from the last time he showed up for one of these celebrations.

Hollywood types, women get mugshots in Cali. She should move to Alaski. Heather's boyfriend was also arrested. Ex-Navy Seal, American hero, who killed bin Laden was booted from an American Airline's flight in Nashville. He was very drunk, shouting vile slurs at attendants. No one is giving that hero a pass. At one point--not surprising because he always has to have revenge after someone makes him look dumb--he mocked an idea that was presented to him at one of his discussions last week. Today he made fun of IN attorney general Curtis Hill, who he of course had made sure sat next to him last week due to the fact that he's African American. In today's comment he said--a lie--that the AG had since (because of Trump's reality check) changed his mind about that particular idea (involving smoke canisters).
