Animators use cats to explain gun control, and it's actually pretty effective.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

The gun control debate rages anew in the wake of last month’s Florida high school mass shooting. While there may not be a fix-all solution, the vast majority of Americans agree: Something must be done.

Sometimes, humor is the best way to present an issue ― even a serious one. Alex Clark and his animation studio broke down the gun control debate in a way that the internet would surely understand: with cats.

Now I am not completely on board with everything in this video, as I don't really see ANY guns as cute and cuddly.

However I do agree that there are responsible gun owners, and if their guns are never used to injure of kill another human being they are not really part of the problem.

However I would also suggest that there be laws to limit how many guns a person can own, and what kinds of firearms are reasonable for private citizens to have in their homes.

Just like the crazy cat lady who ends up being devoured by her pets after she slips and falls in the kitchen, there is a point where having too many guns is just a recipe for disaster.

      We called it!

Also this: Trump also announced that Gina Haspel, the deputy director at the CIA will be nominated to run the spy agency. She would be the first woman to hold the position.

“Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all” he added.

During the George W. Bush administration, Haspel operated an interrogation "black site" in Thailand. Her rise in the ranks at the spy agency has caused a stir due to her involvement in the torture of detainees and destroying videotapes of the interrogations.

He sure knows how to pick all the bestest people!

Tillerson is now gone (he dared to speak up and admit Russia is linked to the poisoning in UK) -- this whole trump mess needs to end soon, it is exhausting (and frightening !)

It is very cute but it is a false equivalency. Are the good cats bad cats supposed to be PEOPLE with guns? No, hey are guns...but guns do not shoot themselves whether they are good or bad. People still are needed.
I am studying logic in my doctoral philosophy class, so.....sorry for being a Debbie downer, but my brain thought this was a cute but useless.

Kat Lady>"Want to know why we can’t make any progress on the gun debate? Because this isn’t just a debate over policy. It’s a debate over people’s core identity — what it means to be a provider, a protector, a citizen, A MAN.

Jennifer Carlson is a sociologist at the University of Arizona and the author of Citizen-Protectors: The Everyday Politics of Guns in an Age of Decline. The book emerged from an epiphany she had: Her discipline had missed a major social transformation. Americans weren’t just buying guns for hunting or home protection. Guns had become part of their everyday lives, structuring how they saw the world, their country, and their role in it.

So she dove deep into the experiences of gun carriers in Michigan, becoming a gun carrier and even a certified instructor herself, examining how the
National Rifle Association’s training programs construct new models of citizenship, and digging into how gun ownership interacts with race, gender, economic decline, and class.

I don’t believe that EMPATHY alone offers a way forward in the gun debate. But I do believe that understanding the identities at play here — among both those who own guns and those who want to see gun ownership restricted — is the only way to have a debate that makes sense. This conversation helped me, at least, see those identities much more clearly."
