Dick's Sporting Goods will no longer sell assault style weapons at their stores.

Here was there official announcement.
Well maybe they will have to change their name to "Not a Dick Sporting Goods."

Sorry, had to do that.

Yesterday also saw this startling announcement from Walmart.
Don't let anybody tell you that these kids will not change a damn thing.

They already have.

And I believe they are just getting started.

I grew up in the 60's and 70's. Kids were able to dramatically change the world for a better place back then. I have faith they will do it again.

The special KGB dotard pooty and his main squeeze dotard drumf are quite the team. Not sure why the USA military allows them to continue another day but regardless they are done, over and out. Both are very stupid spies and enemy of the USA. Using the old KGB playbook and lashing out at the world is not good practice. Old short liddle pooty threatens his big ding dong nuke arsenal to the world today. I'm not sure why liddle guys with big complexes behave in such a wimpy weak manner but they do. The USA took out old hitler, bin liddle dick hairy Hussain. And they will take out the next 3 COMMUNIST DICKTATORS too. Silly DOTARDS morons.

I like outdoor life, I kinda liked going to Bass Pro Shop, Cabela, Walmart, and DICKs sporting goods for fishing, camping and outdoor products. Assault weapons just does not fit in to that. Times up for ignorance. Weapons of war belong to the world military to take out the enemy of the world. It is time the military use them.

The military 'looking' firearms sold in your local stores function NOTHING like actual military weapons. Ignorance runs rampant throughout the lib world when it comes to many things, and is simply laughable when it comes to firearms.

    2. These places sell SPORTS equipment, as in hunting and fishing.

There is no place for a military assault rifle amongst the rifles, shot guns and fishing lures.

You don't hunt deer with an AR-15.

About time these places stepped up and did what our elected officials are too cowardly to do.

mlaiuppa, what is it that you don't understand that these are not military assault rifles? They might look like them but they do not function the same.

This is big -- and also a no-brainer. After all, it's mothers who buy the bulk of sporting goods for high school athletes, and this should make moms who oppose these weapons into very loyal customers.

Trump’s madcap, unscripted gun control meeting with lawmakers, explained
Trump had Democrats cheering in his bipartisan gun control meeting.

...Throughout the hour, Trump often veered into uncomfortable territory for Republicans and at times broke with his party altogether, reiterating support for policies many in his conservative base have taken issue with.

This is going to be an ongoing process and something that we don’t expect to happen overnight. But something that we’re going to continue to be engaged in and continue to look for the best way possible to make sure we’re doing everything we can to protect schools across the country.”'

Don't get too excited by this action.
They did it before after Sandy Hook and then went back to selling them again:

  16. Rei has suspended their contract with Vista Outdoor.

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/rei-guns-vista-outdoor_us_5a98b2a4e4b0479c0250e38b

"The outdoor retailer REI has suspended its relationship with a company that supplies some of its most popular brands, including CamelBak and Giro, because the conglomerate also manufactures guns and ammunition.

REI said on Thursday that it would place a hold on any future orders with Vista Outdoor, a conglomerate that recently acquired several popular adventure brands that have long been featured in REI locations. But Vista Outdoor also owns Savage Arms, a gun manufacturer and retailer that stocks several models of semi-automatic “modern sporting rifles.” Such manufacturers are facing backlash after the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 people dead.

The Seattle-based REI said it had been in discussions with Vista Outdoor for the past week, and that the two companies’ relationship would be put on hold since REI learned that Vista Outdoor would not make a public statement “that outlines a clear plan of action” regarding common-sense gun control measures. "

You know, if our government can't do it's job, it's up to us to do it for ourselves.

That means responsible companies using whatever pressure they can put to bear inline with their own conscience and integrity.

"CamelBak, one of the companies owned by Vista Outdoors, said efforts to boycott the brand were misplaced after another outdoor retailer, Canada’s Mountain Equipment Co-op, announced that it would suspend orders of the company’s products. "

"REI has been no stranger to political statements in recent months. CEO Jerry Stritzke said he was “mad as hell” after the Trump administration decided to dramatically scale back two national monuments in Utah ― Bears Ears, which was cut by about 85 percent, and Grand Staircase-Escalante, which was reduced roughly by half.

“REI will not retreat from our strong belief that there is common ground in the outdoors,” the company said at the time. “We will continue to pursue bipartisan support to protect public lands and prevent death by a thousand cuts. REI members can be assured that we will honor our shared passion for our public lands, dedicating time and resources to leaving them healthier for future generations.”"

I can see how a lot of Trump's policies would rub REI and other companies the wrong way. Why should they sit around and do nothing? This is them voting with their wallets on a scale that we, the public, cannot.

I think I'm going to drop in to an REI every once in a while and see if there's anything there I might be able to use.
