Illinois gun show bans the selling of AR-15's.

Courtesy of WaPo:

It looked like many other small weekend shows across America: folding tables covered with handguns, rifles, parts, ammunition and war mementos, including helmets, patches, pistols and even vintage Nazi memorabilia.

But no AR-15s.

Organizers halted an advertised raffle that would have awarded an AR-15 to the winner, and vendors were told they would not be allowed to sell the weapon at the monthly show.

Frank Cesare — of the Pioneer Valley Sportsman’s Association, which has hosted the show for more than 40 years — said the decision followed complaints the group received after the Parkland shooting and as gun-control advocates planned to protest.

“We did the ban to try to calm the situation down and show them we are willing to work with them,” he said, referring to the protesters.

Cesare said that the ban on AR-15s also would remain in place for April’s show and that the club is “waiting to see” what the mood is like before deciding on shows later in the year. But the move has forced the club into the gun culture war that has gained new energy across the United States since Parkland.

It may be a small gesture, and perhaps only a temporary one, but it is still more than we have seen in response to past mass shootings in this country.

And I have to say that if the Parkland students have their way this will certainly NOT be temporary, and it will only be the beginning.

My confidence in their abilities grows by the day.

  1. How nice---no more selling of AR-15s. Now how about
the anti-tank missiles? (Wish that was snark).

It was a 1 day voluntary self imposed restriction for optics. And they probably still sold them anyways.... just not directly on the table at the show.

Ignorance?, really? You're ignorant. The existence of guns is a symptom of ignorance
      Period.

Well basically you are saying the Constitution is all ignorance 8:31.

Maybe we should do away with the Constitution? Lets see how you are doing a year after abolishing the Constitution.

This must be a nationwide ban on ALL assault style weapons period. Allowing states to make up there own agenda will not work. USA citizens travel from state to state and we must be safe in the entire united states of America. Some states will harbor more loonies than others and we cannot have that. The 2 big issues is guns and marijuana. Both need immediate attention. Ban assault weapons and federally decriminalize marijuana. Cut the crap.

lol. Do you have ANY idea the small percentage of firearm deaths that are actually attributed to these 'assault style' looking weapons? It is negligible. This is exactly where liberals show their total ignorance when it comes to firearms.

Do you not also realize the same ammunition used in many 'assault' style weapons, is also used in rifles that look like more regular stock and barrel rifles... with the same large clips? Of course you don't. Because you value self ignorance over all.

Black thugs Demario James Atwater and Laurence Alvin Lovette Jr.

I take it they are probably BLM heroes of yours.

They carjacked kidnapped and murdered a pretty white girl Eve Carlson attending Chapel Hill with honors in Pre Med.

She was obviously evil, and these BLM heroes saved the day by robbing and killing her!

"Two conspiracy theorists who have pushed the idea that the mass shooting at Sutherland Springs on Nov. 5 didn’t happen were arrested Monday at First Baptist Church, the site of the massacre, after the church’s pastor accused them of repeatedly harassing the community.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office declined to provide charging information on Robert Ussery, 54, who founded conspiracy website Side Thorn, and his partner Jodi Mann, 56, who is referred to as “Conspiracy Granny” online. "

    OT Alaska
"House Republicans conjure up phony budget statistics

North Pole Rep. Tammie Wilson, who once said she doesn't believe in inflation, is wasting valuable state time again with dozens of budget amendments based on her misreading of budget statistics.

To make matters worse, her fellow Republicans on the House Finance Committee—Reps. Steve Thompson, Lance Pruitt and Cathy Tilton—offered unblinking support for amendments that don't make any sense.

For example, Wilson claimed the state could save $1 million by cutting the budget for a communications system used in emergencies.

She said that two years ago the state spent much less on the system and now Gov. Bill Walker wants a big increase. Trouble is, the state did not spend all that much less two years ago and the $1 million savings plan was based on her failure to read the other lines in the budget.

On item after item, Wilson inaccurately claimed that money in certain categories was not spent two years ago, so the budget this year can be cut. But the money was spent two years ago.

Just about all of her misguided budget amendments suffered from similar problems and were rejected, with the Democratic-led majority voting "no" and the four minority members voting "yes." Listen to the hearing if you want to hear this tired excuse for political theater.

After being told she was wrong, Wilson didn't want to hear it. She retreated to her old standby argument—someone else, perhaps local government, should start paying because the state can't afford it, it's not a state priority, etc.

The reality is that departmental budgets are down and Alaskans want state services.

As the GOP House finance expert, Wilson said a year ago that the state could save $210,000 on school bus inspections by getting someone else to pay for them. She also proposed saving money by eliminating dozens of government jobs that had already been eliminated. A few years ago she said the University of Alaska could save money by not funding research anymore.

The House Republicans talk a good game about budget cuts, but it's no surprise that they can't identify programs to eliminate or explain how to cut $1 billion or $2 billion from the budget."
