Ohio 8 year old shoots 4 year old sister multiple times. The 2nd Amendment at work.

Courtesy of Mansfield News Journal:

A mother was arrested Saturday evening after an 8-year-old boy shot his 4-year-old sister Saturday afternoon, the Ashland County Sheriff's Office reported.

The sheriff's office was notified around 2:30 p.m. Saturday that the 4-year-old had been shot and sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Ashland County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Carl Richert said the 4-year-old was shot "multiple times" and initially treated at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center before being taken to a Cleveland hospital.

Richert said the girl was in stable condition when she was transported. The child is currently in stable condition and is expected to recover, according to the news release.

The Ashland County Prosecutor's Office will review the case Monday, Richert said.

Both children have been removed from the home, he said.

Multiple times does not seem like an "accidental shooting."

Perhaps this little boy was simply standing his ground and his little sister simply would not stop touching his things?

Or perhaps he simply lives in a house where the adults believe that guns are harmless and only a danger to the "bad guys."

Guns kill. How hard is this for people to understand?

Isn't Ohio a place where they are now allowing 'children of any age' to go hunting with an adult and shooting a gun? When will people get smart? Oh wait, the GOP likes them dumb, and dead, evidently.

While these injuries may not be life threatening they will be life changing for that child. BUt what bothers me the most in all this is that the 8 yr old kept shooting, he is a very troubled child most likely stemming from his environment.
I am glad the children were removed and every time I see a child shooting a child it makes me cry.

If only the 4 year old had a gun too then she wouldn’t have been bullied by her mean mentally deranged 8 year old brother.

Great point! If she had an AR 15 or high capacity magazines the brother would never bother her again.
Then if the mother was carrying she would have saved the day after deciding which child to shoot first not knowing who started the gun fight. If it is a good plan for schools and community it is a great plan for home.

"When discussing Ivanka Trump’s brand, Conway made a direct plea to the Fox News audience to buy Trump’s products. The second case was when she advocated for Alabama senate candidate Doug Jones to be defeated and advocated the election of Roy Moore.

Both are explicitly banned by the Hatch Act. According to the special counsel, their office “submitted the report to the President for appropriate disciplinary action.”"

I have given up, you can't fix stupid and if these people are willing to kill their own kids by leaving guns around so be it.

The federal agencies and local law enforcement, FCC, FBI, CIA must step in and stop and suspend ALL websites and TV programing such as NRA, info wars, brietbart, Fox no news, etc. And dismantle twitter, facebook, white nationalist, gun show promoters and all social media. It is the source of ignorance coming from people in this country. They have been brainwashed and in a complete mental stooper...all of us know at least one person affected. It must stop. And whoever is behind it must be stopped. And it will stop. Time is up and over and out.

I have three guns. Two were inherited. I have had them locked up for years. I have never felt the need to retrieve any of them. I guess I don't qualify as an ammosexual. I really need to get rid of them. Like in destroyed.

I inherited a 22 pistol from my mother. The thing is 30 years old and never been fired. I still have the original 30 year old bullets. Don’t know if they are still good or not.

I have hunting weapons, but they are in a locked gun safe in a locked room. I do have one pistol for protection that, at times over the yrs I felt I needed out( I had a stalker, a violent stalker, when the police tell you to shoot through to door the next time he tries to break in because they thought he would kill me the next time, thanks to his families money he got slaps on the wrist the first 8 times he was arrested) I feel no need for extended magazines, bump stocks nor war weapons. With gun ownership, I feel, comes a great responsibility and I try to live up to that responsibility. That said, I am not going to stop hunting, wild game is a large part of our diet. Owners need to be held liable for what their weapons do and who has access to them.

good for all of you. 5:28, i had a stalker, too. my weapon of choice is a sword. i spent along time learning how to use it and i still practice. stalker? got smart and left when i informed him i would happily feed him his balls. i am not comfortable with guns. my yard is booby trapped, with deep hard to see fire pit, raccoons, some thing that growls loud(i have no intention of finding out what that is), and a psychcotic cat that weights 17 pounds and fights with the growler on a regular basis. i'm safe as i'll get. would you want to take on an angry 275 pound woman with a very sharp sword?

Isn’t the defense position that if there was a good guy with the gun he or she would have shot the young bad boy, killed him so the little girl would be saved?

This reminds me that we need harsher laws for adults who do not lock their guns up.

my father never left his guns loaded and around where we could reach them. the only reason i'm alive today, because if her royal highness had gotten her hands on one for sure she would have used it. she has "issues". even at 60 she still must be always be the centre of attention. i wonder if that was what the boy was doing?

Remember now, guns don’t kill people, people kill people! That was an often-repeated phrase of the gun-lovers. I dont hear it as much anymore, though.

It’s as stupid as claiming that people killed and caused radiation poisoning in Hiroshima and Nagaski, rather than the bombs they chose to drop.

To me, it suggests that people alone can cause this type of damage without using tools created specifically to kill. It’s absurd. I’m very glad this little girl is going to make it, and I hope the parents learn to lock up their guns.

If only the 4 year old had been armed and could have defended herself. Clearly the problem here once again isn't too many guns, it's too few.

  13. It is even worse. The mother went to work, leaving the kids at home alone. The 8 year old called her at 10 and said he had shot his sister. She came home and checked the girl, changed the sheet as it had blood on it and went back to work. Came back home at 2 and realized urine was leaking out of one of the wounds and finally took her to the hospital. Great parenting!

They have many guns which the mother says were locked in a gun safe. Somehow, I do not trust her word on this.

The mother was arrested, kids are removed from her. Mother told the father that she had taken them to a babysitter and knew nothing about this until police called him.

    3. Don't jump to conclusions. Here's another take.

Guns belong to Dad. Dad is teaching 8 year old about guns. Dad abuses Mom. 8 year old abuses sister. Mom lies to Dad to avoid a beating.

As for the rest, minimum wage can't afford childcare, could only go home for short time on breaks to avoid getting fired.

Fear drives a lot of people to do stupid things.

We just don't have enough information to know the sequence of events or motivations.

I still think the 8 year old is a sociopath, though.

"“Please, do your job,” Clinton told the panel of women. “Please, don’t worry about the Oscar ratings or how my mom is doing. Although, thank you, she’s doing great. Please, worry about what’s happening on the Korean Peninsula. Please, worry about what the Parkland students are saying, ‘never again,’ truly is never again. So we never have another school shooting in our country. Please, worry about what you can do from the federal government’s perspective to make sure teachers in West Virginia and everywhere are paid appropriately.”"Clinton explained that it’s obvious looking broadly across the U.S. that the overwhelming majority of Americans want a different style of leadership. “Both in terms of the problems being solved but also the approach of how they’re being solved and the language that historically we’ve heard from the men who held that office.”While not being adequately compensated or respected for the profound work they do for our children and our shared future,” "

    JFC!
The mother came home from work (per earlier post) found the kid with blood, DID NOTHING, and went back to work?

That right there tells you all you need to know

People who leave loaded, unlocked firearms where kids can get them should be PERMANENTLY BANNED FROM EVER OWNING GUNS AGAIN....

I've lived the first 55 years of my life with a fully-functioning 2nd Amendment and there was never a hint of the malfunctioning brain cells or war weapons that have been rampant in the past twenty years. There is an entire level of derangement beyond "self-protection" which has taken over. Now that it has become clear that the NRA has been polluted with gun companies as well as Russian money, it is obvious we need to restrain the access to assault weapons. Even Judge Scalia said that, and I have rarely agreed with Scalia.

  18. The mother got the call at work (at some horse paddock or something) around 10am, went home and cleaned up the mess, left the children alone again and went back to work. After work she brought the girl to the hospital.

(I think this says a lot about minimum wage and fear of unemployment)

The guns were in a locked gun cabinet which the boy knew how to open. Thank YOU, NRA.

Now if the guns were in a locked cabinet I'm thinking they were probably also empty. Which means the boy would also have had to load them and have knowledge of how to do so and where the ammunition was kept. Probably in the same cabinet.

    Thank YOU, NRA.

Perhaps we should also have some regulations about the minimum age in which a CHILD can be instructed on gun safety and be allowed to fire a weapon. A minimum age that requires adult supervision AT ALL TIMES.

Fuck you hunters. If you had done your jobs and kept the NRA as a gun safety organization instead of allowing it to go off the rails politically children wouldn't be shooting children.

BTW you can't officially diagnose a sociopath until they are 18 but good luck finding a foster family for 8 year old satan.
