Vice President Pence predicted Tuesday that legal abortion would end in the U.S. "in our time."
"I know in my heart of hearts this will be the generation that restores life in America," Pence said at a luncheon in Nashville, Tenn., hosted by the Susan B. Anthony List & Life Institute, an anti-abortion organization.
"If all of us do all we can, we can once again, in our time, restore the sanctity of life to the center of American law."
Pence has long championed anti-abortion policies, as a congressman, as the governor of Indiana and as vice president.
He told the crowd he has seen more progress in the Trump administration's first year in office than he has in his entire life.
Okay, well this seems bad.
Perhaps Mike Pence does not realize this, but the Supreme Court decided that access to legal abortions in this country is a woman's right.
It was a little case called Roe vs Wade. You may have heard of it, it was in all the papers.
So the vice president can do nothing to erase that, nor can he do it once he replaces an impeached Donald Trump as our new president.
But the fact that he is so determined to try is extremely troubling, and just one more reason that in the 2018 election cycle we need to elect as many Democrats as possible and send them to Washington.

ReplyDeleteSorry, but I think he is correct. One or two more conservative SC justice and it's gone. Also, look for women to lose rights to hormonal birth control. I can't count how many hrs, days, weeks, months.....that I alone put into getting all of us our reproductive rights and we are so close to losing what so many of us fought so hard for that it makes me sick to my stomach. And what makes me even sicker is that a few generations younger than me have no idea what it's like without choices in life and that they have stopped failing to even consider SC appointments. BTW if any man doesn't think this will affect him than he is dumber than a box of rocks.

Those supreme court judges that voted for "Citizen United" must be removed by congress and we the people. That decision is why we have the mess today. Those drugs are used to treat other illnesses - Cushing's Syndrome, Breast Cancer, Meningiomas, Endometriosis and Leiomyomas. Just like bc can be prescribed at RCC clinics because "cramp and acne pills." There will be a ton of women suddenly suddenly suffering form the above.
DeleteIf he has set his goal there be no abortions I want to know if he foresees supporting Planned Parenthood, clinics for prenatal care for uninsured and poverty level persons, increasing staff at adoption agencies, high school programs with infant to preschool toddler care and orphanages. Pence is free to have his religious convictions and stand for them however he is out of touch with reality. Some of the great saints received messages from God. Francis of Assisi heard God told him to rebuild the church. St. Faustina believed that God told her to spread his message of divine mercy and love for all. St. John of God thought the Lord told him to build hospitals to care for the poor.
Pence's divine messages, if any, don't appear to be related to love and mercy. If Pence truly believes that he has some God-given right to control women's reproductive rights, I hope he's brought down with Trump at the hands of Robert Mueller.
