Federal courts block Trump Adminstration's attempt to cut grants to Planned Prenthood's pregnancy prevention programs.

Courtesy of The Hill:

A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from cutting short grants awarded to Planned Parenthood through a federal teen pregnancy prevention program.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Rice on Tuesday issued a permanent injunction preventing the administration from ending the grants two years earlier than originally planned, saying that doing so would cause public harm.

"The Court determines that the public interest weighs in favor of Plaintiffs, as it would prevent harm to the community ... and prevent loss of data regarding the effectiveness of teen pregnancy prevention," Rice wrote.

Planned Parenthood sued the administration after it ended Teen Pregnancy Prevention grants for 81 organizations across the country last summer.

The grants were originally supposed to run through 2020, but the administration said the grants would end in 2018 instead, arguing that the program was ineffective.

The program, created under former President Obama, funded organizations working to cut teen pregnancy rates and mostly focused on comprehensive sex ed, which can include contraception and abstinence teachings.

Of course this is a program created during the Obama Administration because Trump is laser focused on undoing EVERYTHING that Obama accomplished during his two terms in office.

And he doesn't care who it hurts.

Melania Trump turned 48 April 26. Her cheapass husband only managed to have his staff get he a card and flowers as he was "too busy" to get her a gift. My guess is that the White House staff scrambled for the card and flowers when they realized the boss forgot his own wife's birthday and they better come up with something so he isn't publicly embarrassed.

Meanwhile , Obama's photographer is quietly trolling Trump again.

"Obama-era White House photographer Pete Souza doesn’t often pass up on an opportunity to troll President Donald Trump. And so it was business as usual on Thursday when Trump revealed during a wild “Fox & Friends” interview that he was too busy “to be running out looking for presents” to celebrate first lady Melania Trump’s 48th birthday.

In a shade-throwing response, Souza posted this 2013 snap of former President Barack Obama, singing happy birthday to former first lady Michelle Obama:"

"“He always gave her a present too,” Souza captioned the image."

What would happen if Melania forgot to get a present for Trump? I imagine she'd be out of the public eye until her eye healed enough to disguise with makeup.

I'm sure his staff has her birthday on their calendar so they can buy a card and flowers as well as REMIND THE DOTARD first thing in the morning that it's her birthday.

  2. More OT:

Paul Ryan fired the House Chaplain because he didn't like his prayer during the tax debate because it asked for no "winners or losers". Ryan thought it was leaning "democratic" and criticizing the bill for only benefitting the wealthy. (Which it does.)

I guess Trump doesn't have a monopoly on petty and vindictive.

"House Chaplain Patrick Conroy was suddenly forced out of his job last week by Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), and while it’s not clear why, Democratic lawmakers and Hill sources say it was driven by Ryan’s distaste for one of Conroy’s prayers about the GOP’s tax bill."

This is the part that got Ryan's goat: "May their efforts these days guarantee that there are not winners and losers under new tax laws, but benefits balanced and shared by all Americans."

I guess it was too "Christian" for him.

Politico first reported Rice’s departure on Thursday. "

OT: More proof that preznidint Trumplethinskin is going off the rails (he acted like this last year I believe, though not to this extent. And note that even FOX NEWS is reporting it! I think even THEY are losing patience with him! Too late to the table, jagoffs!):

-A troubling thing that stood out for me from *this* article; 'Jake Turx, a correspondent for the Orthodox Jewish weekly Ami Magazine, who was cut off and told to sit down by the president at a briefing last year when he tried to ask a question about anti-Semitism, had a proud dad moment. He tweeted that his son asked Sanders a "kinda epic" question that he came up with on his own:"After President Trump makes America great again, what job will there be for future presidents?"

The Daily Mail quotes Sanders as responding that *Trump will keep making the country "better and better.*"[emphasis mine]

-Does this mean he wasn't actually 'joking' about making himself 'President for life' like Xi of China?!?!?

'He said only “friendly questions” should be asked, adding that the kids were “very aggressive” and “ask me better questions.”...
“You know, your parents are being very nice right now, I can’t believe it,” Trump said. “You know why? Because they don’t want to embarrass themselves in front of you.”'

    He's *really* melting down.

Admit It. By the Time the Sun Went Down, You'd Already Forgotten About Ronny Jackson.

"... And the Marmalade Shartcannon phoned into Fux n’ Fiendz this morning to ramble through his usual list of grievances and empty boasts. Usually when he does this, he's in front of a hoard of adoring rubes, cheering his every word, but without an audience, he quickly devolved into raw unfettered shrieking so nutty the hosts cut him off while texting John Kelly “Get the tranq dart gun, quick!”

Hilariously, Dorito Mussolini's blood pressure hadn't had time to cool before his words were being used against him in court. Oh, and he casually upended the entire strategy he's been deploying the Cohen/Daniels matter. It's safe to assume he spilled pie filling on his shirt as well.

... I get such a kick out of these claims that the Velveeta Vulgarian is just SO pressed for time! Old fart does three things: 1) Consume every microscopic bit of coverage of himself in the media, 2) Bitch about said coverage, and 3) Golf. He's been President of the USA for a year and change now, and he knows less about public policy than most Russian bot accounts. The man is many things, busy is not one of them. ..."

    1. LOUIS! Was that even in the running? (And will it be the French Loo-ee or the English Lewis?)

I think it is tragic and insulting that none of them were named Phillip. Is it because he married into the "Windsors"?

Not a grandchild or great-grandchild named Phillip.

    1. Only if we keep eating them. If the vegetarians have their way, then there will be no need for cows or pigs. The largest mammals left with be Great Danes, Mastiffs and St. Bernards. Unless PETA also rules, in which case it might be sheep because at least they produce wool.

"self-avowed Christian who sired 19 children was discovered regularly beating his children — and even threatened one with a chainsaw.

Patheos’ The Friendly Atheist reported that Henk Koelewijn, a 59-year-old Dutch man who describes himself as “deeply religious,” is the subject of a child abuse trial in the Netherlands. According to prosecutors, one of Koelewijn’s favorite disciplinary sayings comes from the Biblical adage “spare the rod, spoil the child” — so much so that he “would sometimes use a wooden stick to administer his beatings.”

“For good measure, he frequently threatened them with death, screaming on at least one occasion that he would shoot his evildoing offspring in the head,” The Friendly Atheist’s Terry Firma wrote. “One particularly terrifying episode involved him menacing a 12-year-old child of his with a running chainsaw.”

Along with the chainsaw and wooden stick incidents, Koelewijn also allegedly tried to strange one of his children, locked “several” of them in a small room without food or water for hours on end, and molested one of his daughters when she was 11.

As the report noted, the father of 19 children said he administered such harsh punishments because some of his kids were using drugs, hanging out with a rough crowd and stealing from him. He’s so sure of his innocence, Firma wrote, that he allowed his full name to be used in Dutch newspapers — an unusual move given that defendants are often only referred to by their initials in the Netherlands.

The report also noted that doctors who observed the defendant said he did not exhibit signs of “religious mania.” Despite the severity of the allegations, prosecutors in Koelewijn’s case are only seeking five years in prison for the years of severe abuse he allegedly inflicted upon his children."<RawS
