This is what happens when Sinclair Broadcasting buys up the local stations.
The country is now slowly being taken over by conservatives who realize they cannot win by playing fair, so they are subtly slipping propaganda into our local news in the hopes that it poisons citizens against Democrats and progressive ideas.
And it is terrifying!

DeleteFewer and fewer people are watching their local news stations. More and more are turning to subscriptions such as HULU, HBO, Netflix and getting their entertainment online. The only time I watch the news is on Saturday and Monday nights at my parents' house because they have it on. But no one pays much attention to it. Only the 11pm for the weather and sports.

I can't help but notice, a lot of those stations are FOX.
I stopped watching Channel 2 in Anchorage - too Republicans. Plus, they promote Trump more than the other channels.

Since Trump and his puppet FCC don't give a shit about monopolies they'll be allowed to do so. Trump will own the judges in the district, appeals and Supreme courts so no relief, checks or balances there.

For years I have watched the local CBS station. But, they are now Sinclair and I hear that every day, several times a day, if I forget I don't want to watch that station any longer. It enrages me. I have complained to the station but got no reply, not surprisingly.
ReplyDeleteWhat is so anger inducing is that the crap the local people read is the fake news. The listeners/viewers will start to accept it and that this channel is "honest", when soon, or maybe already, Sinclair may be "editing" and "directing" the coverage they do so when they start with the right wing propaganda on people and issues, the viewer will not know it. I HAVE Got to remember not to watch them.
In addition to this "message" they have other things they make the station play -- some under the name of Circa. I wonder how much time they have taken up?
Also, this station runs Sharyl Attkisson's program which is produced by Sinclair, so I avoid it like the plague, not trusting them at all.
If you have a newer TV like I have, you can set it to the stations you want. I skip over the ones I don't watch. Just add that one to your list and before you know it, you'll never notice it's gone.

It allowed one private news organization to buy as many TV & Radio stations as they wanted to in any market.It also was important in getting the 'Fairness Doctrine' kept out of broadcasting. Soon after passage (recall Roger Ailes was in the government at this time)FOX News and Clear Channel/Premier radio started growing exponentially so that today they control 9 of 10 markets the US. This was the plan and it worked beautifully. Sinclair Broadcasting knows a good thing when they see it. The people who voted for all republicans are just as guilty of treason as the republicans in govt. today

They paid too much for the enterprise and I have to say it's gonna be fun watching those assholes lose their investment when it finally goes tits up, but that will leave the major population center and surrounding areas without a newspaper, although KTUU does a splendid job of filling the gap online.
