Too much of a coward to show up to the White House Correspondent's Dinner himself Donald Trump is sending Sarah Huckabee Sanders instead.

Courtesy of The Hill:

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will attend the White House correspondents' dinner this year in place of President Trump, the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) announced Friday.

The news comes just hours after Trump himself said he "probably" would not be attending this year, the second year in a row he has skipped the annual dinner honoring D.C. journalists.

"The White House has informed us that the president does not plan to participate in this year's dinner but that he will actively encourage members of the executive branch to attend and join us as we celebrate the First Amendment," the WHCA wrote in a statement on Twitter.

"In keeping with tradition, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will represent the administration at the head table," the statement adds.

Well if you cannot have the Liar-in-Chief show up, I guess it is appropriate that he sends the second most deceitful person in his stead.

I don't even bother to watch any White House briefings anymore because the amount of lying is fucking overwhelming.

It is almost like Huckabee Sanders has an allergic reaction to the truth, and only occasionally does she slip and let a little honesty slip through.

Personally I hope that Michelle Wolf rips her to shreds during her opening act, and also spends an adequate amount of time ridiculing Trump for his cowardice in not showing up.

Completely agree with Anonymous--do not aim the jokes at Huckabee but keep them aimed at Trump. Or only use her in a couple jokes that tear her and the general admin up as they tear up Trump. Trump wants to get in his attack by using Huckabee so there will be lots of anti-press (and of course Hillary and Obama will come up) comments from her, but the press should not lose focus and prepare jokes on Trump.

    3. Nope. She gets no rebuttal. She has to sit there and take it all.

I'll bet she chickens out and has a prior commitment too. Sends her underling instead.

Not Funny. dRUMPf is NO JOKE. ‘post-truth is pre-fascism’
"Democracy only has substance if there’s the RULE OF LAW."
"You talk about leaders ignoring FACTS, LAW and history."
"Three weeks ago, you said that the country has perhaps
A YEAR ‘to defend American democracy.’
You said what happens in the next few weeks is crucial."
" the book does describe what is going on NOW."
"I think that the people who inhabit the White House inhabit a different ideological world in which they would like for the United States not to be the CONstitutional system that it NOW is. I was CONcerned about that in November.
    I’m CONcerned about it NOW."
"Where we’re going? The classic thing to watch out for is the shift from one governing strategy to another. {aka CHAOS} In the U.S. system, the typical governing strategy is you more or less have to follow your CONstituents with legislation because of the election cycle. That’s one pulse of politics. The other pulse of politics is emergency. There’s some kind of terrorist attack and then the leader tries to suspend basic CONstitutional RIGHTS. And then we get on a different rhythm, where the rhythm is not one electoral cycle to the next but one emergency to the next. That’s how regime changes take place. It’s a classic way since the Reichstag fire
    [when the Nazis burned their nation’s capitol building and blamed communist arsonists]." {trump tower twice}
"finally, a lot of the political theory that I am calling upon, which comes from the anti-Nazis and the anti-communists, makes the point that even though YOU don’t realize it, YOUR own example MATTERs a whole lot, whether it’s positively or negatively. " "keep the conversation closest to the CONstitution. It’s easiest to be dismissed when it’s personal. fundamentally, this is the trick. It isn’t personal. It doesn’t matter who’s in charge. What matters is the system, which people of very different CONvictions take for granted, is NOW under THREAT." The regime will only change if the gamble of the people in the White House is RIGHT:
That many of US despise many others of US and that most of US are indifferent. If it turns out that there are emotions and VALUE$ that are more numerous and more vibrant than indifference and hatred, things are going to be okay.
    THAT depends on US." Bezo$!>

The only problem being that each time he simply cements Obama's legacy more.

Currently Zinke and his Deplorable bitch are going to rescind the part of the Endangered Species Act that protects "THREATENED" species.

This is OT, but it's a useful article about Trump having fought against the law requiring sprinklers in NY apartment buildings. Trump Tower doesn't have them for residential floors, just for the lower commercial ones. The fire at his building yesterday that ended up with Andy Warhol's friend dying is in large part Trump's fault.

"The host of this year’s White House Correspondents Dinner has put a funny positive spin on President Donald Trump’s impending no-show.

“I’m just excited Sarah finally gets to go to prom,” comedian Michelle Wolf joked to The Daily Beast ― in reference to the news that White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders would represent the Trump administration at the head table at the April 28 event."

They are NOT going to pull any punches. It is a chance for them to get a little of their own back and they are not going to squander the opportunity.

It is going to be brutal.

I can hardly wait to watch the upcoming Correspondence Dinner (which I've watched annually for a long time).

The lying' fraud, Huckabee, needs to have her clock verbally cleaned and I know it's going to be done in great humor.

It will stick to Huckabee and irritate the holy heck out of her! Just like the words provided to Trump by President Obama at his last Correspondence Dinner.

For some pathetic reason, Republicans show themselves constantly as not having good senses of humor!!

It's part of their "brain damage." They don't get Satire, Parody or Sarcasm. They can't sense it. It's why they are so affronted by things because they can't sense the humor. Can't take a joke. It's literally brain damage or at the very least a brain abnormality. Like being dyslexic or color blind but far worse. It's like a bellweather. Anyone that swears they are independent or impartial but can't recognize sarcasm, parody, satire or take a joke is a Republican in denial.

    For Mlaiuppa> Excerpt of a excerpt. FB>
"libraries represent an aspirational notion of democracy"
"tomorrow marks the beginning of #NationalLibraryWeek, I thought I would share an extended excerpt. I am grateful to all make libraries a continued part of our civic fabric.
'"I recognize a quaintness in waxing nostalgic about libraries in an age when we have instantaneous access to more information than was contained in all the combined library collections'- Next to the Supreme Court and facing the great dome of the Capitol is the Library of Congress. -three institutions that write, judge, and archive the words and thoughts that allow our nation to function.
Thomas Jefferson> “There is in fact no subject to which a member of Congress may not have occasion to refer.”
in 1870, when Congress stipulated that the library must receive two copies of every book, map, photograph, or other such work that was submitted for copyright in the United States. This caused the collection to expand exponentially, and the pace of growth continues at what is now the largest library in the world.-Jefferson, Carnegie, and all the others who believed in the power of books.- joy in acquiring knowledge and pleasure in the art of reading-
"Our Founding Fathers had sharp political differences, but they were almost all deep readers, writers, and thinkers. When they set about to create a modern republic, they went into their libraries and pulled out the works of philosophers such as John Locke and Thomas Hobbes. They consulted the Greeks, the Romans, the philosophers of Europe, and the Bible. "< Dan the Man Rather

    1. If only public schools had embraced their trained, certificated teacher-librarians instead of excessing them at the first salvo of budget cuts, we wouldn't be living in the "Information Illiterate" world we live in now.

Libraries are not just book warehouses. They are were you learn information literacy, be it hard copy or electronic. It's where you learn to vet sources and identify "fake news."

The rise of our "Fourth Reich" right wing rabid conservatives coincides with the destruction of the library system and librarians in our public schools.

When I was in high school my school of 3600 had TWO teacher librarians and three library technicians.

Now there is only one tech. There are less are perhaps a handful of teacher librarians in our entire district and most are split between 2 or even 3 schools. Most schools have no certificated teacher librarians at all. They only have techs that process books, check them in and out and shelve them.

And no, classroom teachers do NOT have the training or the time to teach information literacy.
