The Trump White House punched back at its own Justice Department Tuesday, with President Donald Trump and senior officials expressing outrage over a law enforcement raid on lawyer Michael Cohen—and making thinly veiled threats to fire special Russia prosecutor Robert Mueller.
“We’ve been advised the president certainly has the power to make that decision,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said when asked whether Trump could fire Mueller, who answers not to the White House but to deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein.
Trump began the day tweeting in defense of Cohen, a longtime Trump Organization associate. “A TOTAL WITCH HUNT!!!” Trump wrote on Twitter Tuesday morning. He also added: “Attorney-client privilege is dead!”
A GOP operative close to the White House told POLITICO: “The all caps tweet, that’s the primal scream. That’s the war cry.”
“He’s losing his shit,” the operative added. “We’re at a different level now.”
That is very similar to what Vanity Fair is reporting as well:
There have been times during Robert Mueller’s investigation—Mueller’s subpoenaing of Trump business records, for instance—when White House advisers worried Trump seemed on the verge of triggering a constitutional crisis by firing Mueller, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. The stunning Cohen raid is another one of these moments. “He’s sitting there bitching and moaning. He’s brooding and doesn’t have a plan,” a Republican close to the White House said last night. “I could see him having a total meltdown and saying, ‘Fuck it, I’m firing all of them,’” a Trump friend told me. “This is very dry tinder. If someone strikes a match to it, you could see it catching fire,” added a former official.
It was also announced today that Trump has cancelled his planned trip to South America, supposedly to because he wants to monitor the situation in Syria, but of course we all know which situation has his full attention.
All day today I have been expecting Trump to lose his shit and start firing everybody in the Justice Department, or declare war on Mexico, or set the rest of Trump Tower on fire.
But so far it's like that part of the horror movie before the teenagers go downstairs to figure out why the lights won't work.
You know that somebody is getting an axe in the forehead, you just don't know when, or which one it will be.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will attend the White House correspondents' dinner this year in place of President Trump, the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) announced Friday.
The news comes just hours after Trump himself said he "probably" would not be attending this year, the second year in a row he has skipped the annual dinner honoring D.C. journalists.
"The White House has informed us that the president does not plan to participate in this year's dinner but that he will actively encourage members of the executive branch to attend and join us as we celebrate the First Amendment," the WHCA wrote in a statement on Twitter.
"In keeping with tradition, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will represent the administration at the head table," the statement adds.
Well if you cannot have the Liar-in-Chief show up, I guess it is appropriate that he sends the second most deceitful person in his stead.
I don't even bother to watch any White House briefings anymore because the amount of lying is fucking overwhelming.
It is almost like Huckabee Sanders has an allergic reaction to the truth, and only occasionally does she slip and let a little honesty slip through.
Personally I hope that Michelle Wolf rips her to shreds during her opening act, and also spends an adequate amount of time ridiculing Trump for his cowardice in not showing up.
President Trump on Tuesday congratulated President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia on his recent re-election victory, but failed to ask him about either the fairness of the Russian vote, which Mr. Putin won with a lopsided margin, or about allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
Mr. Trump also did not raise Russia’s apparent role in a nerve agent attack on a former Russian spy and his daughter on British soil — an act that prompted the United States to join with Britain, France and Germany in denouncing the Russian government for violating international law.
Instead, in his phone call with Mr. Putin, the president focused on what the White House called “shared interests,” including North Korea, Ukraine and the escalating arms race between the United States and Russia. He said he and Mr. Putin were likely to meet soon to discuss those issues.
“We had a very good call,” Mr. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, where he was meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia. “We will probably be meeting in the not-too distant future to discuss the arms race, which is getting out of control.”
And why is the arms race getting out of control?
Because these two demagogues are in a dick measuring contest.
So just let this steep in your mind for a moment. This president called the man who interfered in our election, has hacked into our power grid, and is currently having people murdered on British soil, to congratulate him for oppressing his people and stealing their right to choose their own leader.
You know who never would have done that?

President Trump did not follow specific warnings from his national security advisers when he congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin Tuesday on his reelection, including a section in his briefing materials in all-capital letters stating “DO NOT CONGRATULATE,” according to officials familiar with the call.
Trump also chose not to heed talking points from aides instructing him to condemn Putin about the recent poisoning of a former Russian spy in the United Kingdom with a powerful nerve agent, a case that both the British and U.S. governments have blamed on Moscow.
The president’s conversation with Putin, which Trump called a “very good call,” prompted fresh criticism of his muted tone toward one of the United States’s biggest geopolitical rivals amid the ongoing special counsel investigation into Russia’s election interference and the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russian officials.

President Trump has decided to remove H.R. McMaster as his national security adviser and is actively discussing potential replacements, according to five people with knowledge of the plans, preparing to deliver yet another jolt to the senior ranks of his administration.
Trump is now comfortable with ousting McMaster, with whom he never personally gelled, but is willing to take time executing the move because he wants to ensure both that the three-star Army general is not humiliated and that there is a strong successor lined up, these people said.
The turbulence is part of a broader potential shake-up under consideration by Trump that is likely to include senior officials at the White House, where staffers are gripped by fear and uncertainty as they await the next move from an impulsive president who enjoys stoking conflict.
For all of the evident disorder, Trump feels emboldened, advisers said — buoyed by what he views as triumphant decisions last week to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum and to agree to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The president is enjoying the process of assessing his team and making changes, tightening his inner circle to those he considers survivors and who respect his unconventional style, one senior White House official said.

The man brought in last summer to impose order in the White House, chief of staff John Kelly, may also be on the way out, according to congressional and administration sources.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders has not yet had the chance to deny/confirm this news yet, but it is pretty clear that Trump wants to do away with anybody with an ounce of competence in his administration, so I think this news is likely pretty accurate.

President Donald Trump's lawyer is trying to silence adult-film star Stormy Daniels, obtaining a secret restraining order in a private arbitration proceeding and warning that she will face penalties if she publicly discusses a relationship with the president, NBC News has learned.
The new pressure on Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, comes a day after she filed a lawsuit in a Los Angeles court alleging that a nondisclosure agreement she made to keep quiet about an "intimate" relationship with Trump is invalid because he never signed it.
Tuesday's lawsuit says that Trump attorney Michael Cohen — who brokered the agreement with Clifford during the presidential campaign — attempted to "intimidate" Clifford and "shut her up" by initiating what it calls a "bogus arbitration proceeding" against her in Los Angeles on Feb. 27.
On that day, Cohen obtained a temporary restraining order against Clifford from the private arbitrator, a retired judge, which bars her from disclosing "confidential information" related to the nondisclosure agreement signed in October 2016, according to a copy of the order obtained by NBC News.
Okay so here's a silly question.
If Donald Trump never had a sexual relationship with this woman, as the White House has stated repeatedly, what is the need to keep this woman from telling her, apparently false, story?
And, once again a silly question, why would anybody pay $130,000 to prevent her from telling it in the first place?

Courtesy of Mediaite: President Donald Trump is reportedly somewhat less than thrilled with his press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, for her comments during Wednesday’s briefing addressing the Stormy Daniels story.
According to CNN’s Abby Phillip (citing reporting from Jim Acosta), Trump believes that Sanders essentially breathed life into the Stormy Daniels controversy with her Wednesday remarks.
“According to this source, Sarah Sanders’ comments were essentially putting the Stormy Daniels storyline on steroids yesterday,” Phillip said.
Oops, Rachel Maddow better make more room on her wall, because it looks like another White House staff may get tossed to the curb.
Damn, this Stormy Daniels story is getting more interesting by the day.

FBI Director Christopher Wray on Tuesday appeared to contradict the Trump administration’s claims about the background investigation into a former White House staffer who left the administration last week amid allegations of domestic violence.
Various outlets have reported that the FBI alerted the White House to the allegations of domestic violence made against former staff secretary Rob Porter by two ex-wives and an ex-girlfriend before those allegations were made public last week. The administration has said in its defense that Porter’s background check was incomplete at the time of his ouster, and that they wanted to allow the FBI to finish its investigation before passing judgement on Porter.
But Wray’s account of the FBI’s communications with the Trump administration, told to the Senate Intelligence Committee Tuesday, seemed to differ from the White House’s.
“What I can tell you is that the FBI submitted a partial report on the investigation in question in March, and then a completed background investigation in late July,” he said, noting that the FBI “followed the established protocol” with Porter.
“Soon thereafter we received requests for follow-up inquiry and we did the follow-up and provided that information in November. And then we administratively closed the file in January,” he continued. “And then earlier this month we received some additional information and we passed that on as well.”
This revelation caused Sarah Huckabee Sanders to start her spin cycle once again, only now she laid the blame on the White House personnel office, which she characterized as "career officials. " (That is clearly code for "deep state.")
Now as entertaining as all of this is, and it really is, there was also something else revealed during that hearing yesterday.
Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) appeared to surprise the witnesses by asking if Trump had specifically urged them to address the Russian threat.
“I can’t say I’ve been specifically directed to blunt or actually stop” Russian influence efforts, NSA Director Mike Rogers replied. Rogers added that he considers it his agency’s job to gather intelligence for policymakers rather than act on it.
CIA Director Mike Pompeo, appearing eager to defend Trump, said the president has generally asked the intelligence community to address threats, adding that the CIA takes “all kinds of steps to disrupt what the Russians are trying to do.” But he did not say that Trump has specifically directed the agency to prevent Russian interference.
FBI Director Christopher Wray said he has not been “specifically directed by the president” to combat Russian meddling. Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, similarly said Trump has not urged him to address Russian meddling. Nor has Trump pressed for any interagency effort to combat Russian interference, Coats conceded. “We essentially are relying on the investigations that are underway,” he said.
During the hearing ALL of the intelligence chief's unanimously stated that Russia was continuing to meddle in our politics, and to engage in cyber attacks, and yet Trump has not only refused to personally direct the government to do anything about it, but has also refused to implement the sanctions that Congress overwhelmingly voted to put in place in order to punish them for what they have ALREADY done.
You know if you were trying to convince people that you were secretly working for the Kremlin, this is exactly how you would do that.
James Comey, the former F.B.I. director fired by President Donald Trump last year, has been interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller as part of his investigation into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
The New York Times first reported the interview on Tuesday.
The interview, which lasted for several hours, focused heavily on a series of memos Comey wrote after each interaction with Trump. NBC News reported that the interview occurred in late 2017.
In his testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee in June 2017, Comey said he had turned all his memos over to the special counsel. In the hearing, he also acknowledged leaking one of the memos to the press — in the explicit hope of sparking a special counsel investigation.
For which this country should be eternally grateful to James Comey.
However I would be remiss if I did not point out that we may not have ever found ourselves in this mess if Comey had not blundered so badly concerning the Clinton e-mail investigation.
Still, I bet he had a LOT to share with Mueller's investigators.
By the way apparently Donald Trump also did a little questioning of FBI agents himself.
Shortly after President Trump fired his FBI director in May, he summoned to the Oval Office the bureau’s acting director for a get-to-know-you meeting.
The two men exchanged pleasantries, but before long, Trump, according to several current and former U.S. officials, asked Andrew McCabe a pointed question: Whom did he vote for in the 2016 election?
McCabe said he didn’t vote, according to the officials, who, like others interviewed for this article, spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk candidly about a sensitive matter.
Trump, the officials said, also vented his anger at McCabe over the several hundred thousand dollars in donations that his wife, a Democrat, received for her failed 2015 Virginia state Senate bid from a political action committee controlled by a close friend of Hillary Clinton.
McCabe you may remember is the FBI agent that Trump has been attacking on Twitter, and trying to get Jeff Sessions to fire.
Anybody else noticing a pattern here?
Speaking of patterns, Sarah Huckabee Sanders essentially stated that the reason Trump has not had Mueller fired yet is because of the potential backlash from the press.
President Donald Trump hasn't fired special counsel Robert Mueller partly because of how the press would react to the dismissal, the White House said Tuesday.
Trump and his top aides have routinely slammed the probe as nothing more than a witch hunt or a hoax, leading some to question why he hasn't fired Mueller in the first place. But the White House appears keenly aware that any attempt to get rid of Mueller could create a massive public relations headache that could envelop the administration.
"Look, we want to see this come to a complete and full conclusion," said White House press secretary Sarah Sanders. "I think we all know what everybody in this room would do if the President did that, and I don't think that is helpful to the process."
She added that Trump "wants to see this end and he wants to see them finally come to the same conclusion that I think most everyone in America has that there is nothing to this."
That last statement makes it pretty clear that the White House is still in complete denial over this investigation.
Somehow I think those rose colored glasses are going to fall right off once Robert Mueller has the opportunity to question Trump.

The Wall Street Journal stated falsely that I said to them “I have a good relationship with Kim Jong Un” (of N. Korea). Obviously I didn’t say that. I said “I’d have a good relationship with Kim Jong Un,” a big difference. Fortunately we now record conversations with reporters...
This morning, President Donald Trump got his Sunday started by taking to Twitter to rail against the Wall Street Journal over an interview he gave the paper last week. One of the big revelations from that conversation was Trump’s declaration that he actually has a “very good relationship” with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. Of course, this raised many eyebrows considering that Trump has publicly denigrated the reclusive and erratic leader numerous times.
At the start of his morning tweetstorm, Trump claimed that the WSJ falsely represented what he said. According to the president, his actual words were “I’d have a good relationship with Kim Jong Un.”
That followed this tweet from Sarah Huckabee Sanders which claims that the Wall Street Journal misquoted Trump.
The problem with all of this of course is that the Wall Street Journal, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch by the way, DID record the comments.

Trump's days in the Oval Office are relatively short – from around 11am to 6pm, then he's back to the residence. During that time he usually has a meeting or two, but spends a good deal of time making phone calls and watching cable news in the dining room adjoining the Oval. Then he's back to the residence for more phone calls and more TV.
Take these random examples from this week's real schedule:
On Tuesday, Trump has his first meeting of the day with Chief of Staff John Kelly at 11am. He then has "Executive Time" for an hour followed by an hour lunch in the private dining room. Then it's another 1 hour 15 minutes of "Executive Time" followed by a 45 minute meeting with National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster. Then another 15 minutes of "Executive Time" before Trump takes his last meeting of the day — a 3:45pm meeting with the head of Presidential Personnel Johnny DeStefano — before ending his official day at 4:15pm.
Other days are fairly similar, unless the president is traveling, in which case the days run longer. On Wednesday this week, for example, the president meets at 11am for his intelligence briefing, then has "Executive Time" until a 2pm meeting with the Norwegian Prime Minister. His last official duty: a video recording with Hope Hicks at 4pm.
On Thursday, the president has an especially light schedule: "Policy Time" at 11am, then "Executive Time" at 12pm, then lunch for an hour, then more "Executive Time" from 1:30pm.
Trump's schedule wasn't always like this. In the earliest days of the Trump administration it began earlier and ended later. Trump would have breakfast meetings (e.g. hosting business leaders in the Roosevelt Room). He didn't like the longer official schedule and pushed for later starts. The morning intelligence briefing ended up settling around 10:30am.
Aides say Trump is always doing something — he's a whirl of activity and some aides wish he would sleep more — but his time in the residence is unstructured and undisciplined. He's calling people, watching TV, tweeting, and generally taking the same loose, improvisational approach to being president that he took to running the Trump Organization for so many years. Old habits die hard.
“The time in the morning is a mix of residence time and Oval Office time but he always has calls with staff, Hill members, cabinet members and foreign leaders during this time,” Sanders said in a statement to Axios. “The President is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen and puts in long hours and long days nearly every day of the week all year long. It has been noted by reporters many times that they wish he would slow down because they sometimes have trouble keeping up with him.”
I'm sorry but at this point I just reject out of hand anything that this White House says.
You just cannot listen to them lie to you day after day, and then take a denial like this seriously.
I absolutely think the Axios report is accurate, and it fits in well with everything we know about this fat, lazy, phony.
Notice how Sarah Hucakabee Sanders keeps looking at the screen as if she cannot believe this is happening. Her facial expressions are gold.
And why does the camera angle keep changing?
Clearly Trump did not want to take any questions from reporters while also attempting to demonstrate that he was not in hiding due to Michael Wolff's book.
But all he really did here was to reinforce the contention made by Steve Bannon in the book that he "has lost it."
Late to his own meeting and waving a sheet of numbers, President Trump stormed into the Oval Office one day in June, plainly enraged.
According to six officials who attended or were briefed about the meeting, Mr. Trump then began reading aloud from the document, which his domestic policy adviser, Stephen Miller, had given him just before the meeting. The document listed how many immigrants had received visas to enter the United States in 2017.
More than 2,500 were from Afghanistan, a terrorist haven, the president complained.
Haiti had sent 15,000 people. They “all have AIDS,” he grumbled, according to one person who attended the meeting and another person who was briefed about it by a different person who was there.
Forty thousand had come from Nigeria, Mr. Trump added. Once they had seen the United States, they would never “go back to their huts” in Africa, recalled the two officials, who asked for anonymity to discuss a sensitive conversation in the Oval Office.
As the meeting continued, John F. Kelly, then the secretary of homeland security, and Rex W. Tillerson, the secretary of state, tried to interject, explaining that many were short-term travelers making one-time visits. But as the president continued, Mr. Kelly and Mr. Miller turned their ire on Mr. Tillerson, blaming him for the influx of foreigners and prompting the secretary of state to throw up his arms in frustration. If he was so bad at his job, maybe he should stop issuing visas altogether, Mr. Tillerson fired back.
Tempers flared and Mr. Kelly asked that the room be cleared of staff members. But even after the door to the Oval Office was closed, aides could still hear the president berating his most senior advisers.
Of course the White House denied that this incident ever happened:
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, denied on Saturday morning that Mr. Trump had made derogatory statements about immigrants during the meeting.
“General Kelly, General McMaster, Secretary Tillerson, Secretary Nielsen and all other senior staff actually in the meeting deny these outrageous claims,” she said, referring to the current White House chief of staff, the national security adviser and the secretaries of state and homeland security. “It’s both sad and telling The New York Times would print the lies of their anonymous ‘sources’ anyway.”
Yeah okay, but that denial might have a little more credibility if it did not come from the same White House that stated emphatically that Trump's inaugural crowds were the largest ever, and that the Mueller investigation will exonerate Trump by Christmas.
Besides this sounds so much like something Trump would say that I am surprised Alec Baldwin has not already used it in an SNL skit.
However on the plus side we are now learning that Trump is not only racist toward Mexicans and Muslims.
On the negative side he is apparently racist against everybody who is not lily white or some shade of orange.
The White House said Wednesday that Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former “The Apprentice” contestant turned political neophyte, is leaving the administration next month.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told The Associated Press that Manigault Newman’s resignation is effective Jan. 20, one year since Trump’s inauguration.
Manigault Newman’s departure was rumored back in September following a number of controversies.
A month earlier, the 43-year-old endured a chaotic trip to the National Association of Black Journalists Convention in New Orleans.
Her appearance at an event during the convention was described as confrontational and hectic as she aggressively insisted reporters “Ask me a question about me,” while sidestepping inquiries about the administration.
The two-time “Apprentice” villain turned senior White House official also ruffled feathers when she reportedly brought members of her 39-person bridal party to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for an extended wedding photo shoot.
The unannounced April visit to the White House in her bridal attire caught fellow senior aides and some security officials by surprise.
"Ask me about me." That right there was probably enough to get a megalomaniac like Trump to fire her.
Omarosa is just one more of Trump's closest confidants who is now being ushered out the door.
That leaves this unhinged and volatile lunatic even more isolated and alone than before.
I certainly hope that somebody is keeping those nuclear codes well hidden.
As the country grapples with a national reckoning over sexual misconduct allegations against powerful men, three women who accused the most high-profile man in America again questioned Monday why their claims did nothing to stop him from winning the presidency.
It was “heartbreaking” for women to go public with their claims against President Trump last year, only to see him ascend to the Oval Office, said Samantha Holvey, a former Miss USA contestant who in October 2016 said Trump inappropriately inspected pageant participants.
“I put myself out there for the entire world, and nobody cared,” Holvey said Monday on NBC's “Megyn Kelly Today” show.
During the television appearance and a news conference, Holvey sat alongside Jessica Leeds, a New York woman who said Trump groped her on a plane, and Rachel Crooks, who said he kissed her on the lips at Trump Tower, to renew their allegations against the president.
The women also called for Congress to investigate these allegations amid the dramatic shift happening nationwide in response to charges of sexual misconduct against men from Hollywood to Capitol Hill. Claims have erupted across industry after industry, against lawmakers and movie stars alike, as the country has shown a sudden, newfound willingness to take such accusations seriously.

That apparently pissed off Donald Trump according to the AP:
Haley’s comments infuriated the president, according to two people who are familiar with his views but who spoke on condition of anonymity because they aren’t authorized to speak publicly about private conversations. Trump has grown increasingly angry in recent days that the accusations against him have resurfaced, telling associates that the charges are false and drawing parallels to the accusations facing Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore.
Poor baby.

Let's face it, as this #MeToo revolution continues moving forward the fact that Donald Trump, a man accused by at least 16 women of sexually abusing or harassing them, remains in the White House becomes more and more conspicuous.
At some point soon it may simply be impossible for him to continue in that job as more and more people demand an investigation, or that he simply be removed from office.
Two black congressmen say they will not attend the opening of the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum Saturday because President Donald Trump is set to attend.
In a joint statement released Thursday, Democratic Reps. John Lewis and Bennie G. Thompson said that after "conversations with church leaders, elected officials, civil right activists and many citizens of our congressional districts," they have decided not to attend the opening.
"President Trump's attendance and his hurtful policies are an insult to the people portrayed in this civil rights museum," the two congressmen said in a statement.
"The struggles represented in this museum exemplify the truth of what really happened in Mississippi. President Trump's disparaging comments about women, the disabled, immigrants and National Football League players disrespect the efforts of Fannie Lou Hamer, Aaron Henry, Medgar Evers, Robert Clark, James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, Michael Schwerner and countless others who have given their all for Mississippi to be a better place."
They added, "After President Trump departs, we encourage all Mississippians and Americans to visit this historic civil rights museum."
While Donald Trump managed to keep his itchy fingers off Twitter, the Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded with this:
“We think it’s unfortunate that these members of Congress wouldn’t join the president in honoring the incredible sacrifice civil rights leaders made to right the injustices in our history,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.
She added that Trump “hopes others will join him in recognizing that the movement was about removing barriers and unifying Americans of all backgrounds.”

John Lewis could drop his pants and urinate on this civil rights museum and he would still remain a civil rights hero.
The only thing he could do which might stain his reputation would to be show up to this museum on the same night that Donald Trump was in attendance.
And Sarah Huckabee Sanders needs to take those wonky eyeballs of hers and direct them toward some history books before she opens her big fat mouth again.

President Donald Trump, during an event at the White House honoring Navajo code talkers Monday, referenced his nickname for Sen. Elizabeth Warren, "Pocahontas," a label he has long used about the Massachusetts Democrat.
"I just want to thank you because you are very, very special people. You were here long before any of us were here," Trump said. "Although, we have a representative in Congress who has been here a long time ... longer than you -- they call her Pocahontas!"
He then turned to one of the code talkers behind him, put his left hand on the man's shoulder and said: "But you know what, I like you. You are special people."
I have a feeling that after that idiotic remark the Navajos in the room thought that Donald Trump was a little "special" as well.
Later White House reporters confronted Sarah Huckabee Sanders about this clearly racist remark, and she of course tried to turn it back to another attack on Warren.
Damn, she is just a terrible person.
Elizabeth Warren was also asked about this incident, and here was her response.
For the record there is no evidence that Elizabeth Warren's career benefited from her claim that she is part Native American, and in fact there it no real evidence that she is not part Native American.
I think that like a lot of Americans Warren grew up hearing stories of her family's Native American heritage and took it on faith that it was accurate.
I myself have been told my whole life that I am part Apache, my grandfather actually met and married my grandmother on an Indian reservation in Arizona, but I have never done a DNA test nor have I yet utilized the services of Ancestry.com.
For all I know for certain my family could be full of shit, but as of right now I stand convinced that I am part Apache.
In other words this is a ridiculous attack, and Donald Trump's fixation on Warren's heritage just had him make a racially charged comment in a room full of war heroes he was supposed to be honoring.
During Friday’s White House Press Briefing, Sarah Huckabee Sanders fielded questions about President Trump’s Thursday night tweets calling for an investigation of Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) in response to accusations of sexual assault. Sanders rejected any suggestion that Trump should likewise be investigated for any of the accusations made against him.
“This was covered extensively during the campaign,” she said. “We addressed it then. The American people spoke very loud and clear when they elected this president.”
When asked to clarify how Trump and Franken were any different, Sanders responded, “I think in one case specifically, Senator Franken has admitted wrongdoing. The president hasn’t. It a very clear distinction.”
So in Trumpland taking some responsibility for your actions toward one accuser makes you MORE guilty than the guy facing more than a dozen accusations who does not?

In her accusation Tweeden said that Franken, "came at me, put his hand on the back of my head, mashed his lips against mine and aggressively stuck his tongue in my mouth."
Now I don't want to call this young woman a liar, but this does not really seem to back up her accusation.
Here's a fact that I am certain I have never shared with you all before.
I attended college with my girlfriend who happened to be the star of every play, musical, and performance at our high school.
She wanted us to have at least a few classes together, so she insisted that I take an acting class with her. (I was not thrilled at first, but it was fun.)
Of course we performed together, and in one of the performances it called for a kiss.
I was thrilled, because kissing her was what I wanted to spend every waking hour doing anyhow.
Both she and the acting teacher informed me that for our performance we would be expected to do a "stage kiss" instead. That is when you kiss next to, but not on, each other's mouth. And then you exaggerate it so that it seems more passionate to an audience sitting in an auditorium or theater.
It seemed silly to me, but that is what we did.
And that is what it appears is happening in this picture.
The whole dramatic clutch, and bending over of the female, is meant to show a passionate kiss to the back row of a theater, even though in reality your lips are nowhere near touching.
Now I am still willing to say that this picture was in bad taste, and that Franken needed to apologize for it.
However for the rest of it I am waiting to see what an ethics investigation shows before I pass any judgement.
Right now in my opinion Al Franken is a bigger man for taking responsibility to what he did than Donald Trump or Roy Moore could ever hope be.
Drilling down on Papadopoulos’s plea, we see a Trump campaign operative engaged in a prolonged effort to obtain Clinton dirt from the Russians. Moreover, we know he kept a “senior policy advisor,” a “supervisory campaign official” and a “high-ranking official of the campaign” in the loop. That’s no less than three other Trump associates who were aware of and/or countenancing the effort to work with Russian officials to find “dirt” on Clinton.
The Lawfare Blog notes that Papadopoulos directly interacted with Trump about Russian contacts:
"The stipulation also contains some rather damaging information about President Trump himself. Papadopoulos says he attended a “national security” meeting on March 31, 2016, at which Trump himself was present, along with his other foreign policy advisers. In that meeting, Papadopoulos told the group that he had connections to arrange a meeting between Trump and Russian President Putin. This means that Trump either knew or should have known about his campaign’s effort to interface with Russia, even as news of various criminal hacking and attempts to interfere with the U.S. election were becoming public."
It’s not clear yet whether Trump also knew that Papadopoulos was on the hunt for information from the Russians about Clinton. However, Trump, if he was paying attention, knew there were contacts with the Russians, something he continually denied publicly. Did Trump forget he heard about contacts between his campaign and the Russians? He says he has an excellent memory, so that’s a problematic defense.
Papadopoulos also has stipulated that “other foreign policy” types were at the March 31 meeting. In the photo from the Trump campaign Web Site we see one of those who was in attendance was now-Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who was named on March 3 chairman of Trump’s National Security Advisory Committee. You will recall he testified under oath he knew of no such contacts between the campaign and Russian officials. That will require explanation.
Yesterday White House spokesliar Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed that Papadopoulos was a nobody and the only meeting he attended was the one of which there is photograph evidence. (Funny how that works out.)
She also claimed to have no idea what the names of the other folks mentioned in the Papadopoulos plea were.

Okay so that is at the very least all of those people in that meeting (Including Jeff Sessions and Donald Trump.) who should have known that the Russians were shopping around "dirt" on Hillary Clinton, Michael Flynn who was also having multiple contacts with the Russians, Paul Manafort who Papadopoulos emailed directly, Carter Page who the campaign apparently sent to Moscow to see this so called dirt, and Corey Lewandowski who okayed the trip.
And this goes as far back as March of last year when Papadopoulos was trying to arrange a meeting with members of the campaign staff and Russian operatives.
Which was at least two months before Trump Jr. had his infamous meeting in Trump Tower with the Kremlin connected lawyer on June 3rd.
So how long has Trump known that the Russians were shopping around "dirt" on Hilary Clinton?
Huckabee Sanders spent almost her entire time at the podium claiming that they barely knew Paul Manafort, and that this George Papadopoulos was just some volunteer that nobody in the campaign ever even bothered to talked to.
And this is despite the fact that Trump introduced Papadapolous early in the campaign as "energy and foreign policy expert," which certainly does not sound like a freaking volunteer licking envelopes in the back room somewhere. And Manafort was his campaign manager and the guy that a lot of people credited with turning the campaign around.

Several times Huckabee Sanders made the case that the REAL evidence of collusion was between the Clinton campaign and the Russians, and that all of this is all just smoke and mirrors.
Which of course is the same meme that her boss was pushing this morning as well.
Sorry, but this is years ago, before Paul Manafort was part of the Trump campaign. But why aren't Crooked Hillary & the Dems the focus?????
