Why Bush would make the claim that he had sought approval from these Senators, knowing that they were never going to accept part of the blame for this debacle, is dumbfounding to me. Is he really that far removed from reality that he thinks that if he just says it then it will be true?
Look how angry the little prick is when he is confronted with his abuse of power.
He bristled at the suggestion at a White House news conference that he was assuming unlimited powers.
"To say 'unchecked power' basically is ascribing some kind of dictatorial position to the president, which I strongly reject," he said angrily. "I am doing what you expect me to do, and at the same time, safeguarding the civil liberties of the country."
You can fairly see him bristle with outrage that somebody dares to question him. By the way did you notice he said he "rejected it", but did not deny it.
I also found it laughable when he and the White House suggested that the Constitution gave them this power. Is this the same Consistution that Bush referred to as "just a goddamn piece of paper" . When it benefits them the White House trots out this venerable document and when it stands in their way they simply dismiss it.
I just saw that Bush's approval rating is at 47%. This just floors me! I have to assume that the poll was taken before all of these spying accusations started flying. I would hate to think that Americans are this stupid!
