Gubernatorial candidate gets in trouble for having open can of beer. While riding in St. Patrick's day parade. In Texas.

Kinky Friedman appeared to violate the state's open container law by drinking from a can of Guinness while seated in a convertible during a St. Patrick's Day parade.

Texas law prohibits opened alcoholic beverages in the passenger area of a motor vehicle. Dallas police Lieutenant Rick Watson says Friedman can't be cited after the fact because it wasn't witnessed at the time by an officer. The Class C misdemeanor carries a maximum fine of $500.

So how is it possible to get in trouble for drinking a beer in Texas? On St. Patrick's day? It just does not add up to me.

I think that it is just because Mr. Friedman is Jewish. Texas probably has a "no Jew drinking beer" law. I would not put it past them.

You know having him running for governor almost makes me want to move to Texas to vote for him. It is like my life's ambition to vote for a guy named "Kinky". It would make my whole year.
