Okay not to belabor the point but HOW is high school dropout Levi Johnston able to get a job as an apprentice electrician?

So according to Sarah Palin, Levi Johnston is NOT a high school dropout. You betcha.

Except that in this interview back on October 13, it was confirmed that Levi Johnston had dropped out of high school and was working on the North Slope as the apprentice to an electrician, and our lady Governor did not say shit about it. I guess back then, before family members started getting busted for selling drugs, it was not considered scandalous enough for the Palinator to try and refute it.

However the REAL unanswered question that is still really bugging me is HOW does ex-hockey player Levi Johnston score a sweet job on the North Slope as an apprentice electrician? Do you have any idea just how hard it is to get that job? Let me put it this way, YOU can't get it. Not unless you have some serious connections. And even then if you do not have the basic qualification you are SOL.

Which brings me to the thing that keeps bothering me. You see we know that Johnston HAS the connections because his future mother in law is the freaking Governor! But according to Sarah Palin herself, he DOES NOT have the basic qualifications.

You see Levi Johnston did not yet finish high school. And according to the minimum job requirements listed by the IBEW you must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be at least eighteen years of age (Yep!)
2. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED (Nope!)
3. Must provide an official, sealed copy of high school transcripts. (Nope!)
4. Must have successfully completed two semesters of high school level algebra or one college level algebra course (I seriously doubt it!)

So you see Levi Johnston simply cannot be working as an apprentice electrician. Not unless somebody is breaking the rules.

Hmmm now who has a history of doing that? And doesn't that same person have a habit of making duplicitous statements?

So just what is the truth here? I think I may have to call the IBEW on Monday and see if I can't get to the bottom of this, especially since my local news media has shown themselves to be completely inept.

Maybe there is an affirmative action program for the offspring of drug dealers.

  2. I have been wondering the same thing since this was announced. I served an apprenticeship in the Carpenter's union and there were transcripts, recommendation letters, tests and interviews involved. It's not the sort of situation you walk into one day to the next. Unless you have major connections I guess. Even in that case the union (if this is a union job) by accepting someone without the minimum qualificatons, would be opening itself up to lawsuits by others who have applied and were not accepted.

Sarah is too dense to realize her frantic messages left with People Magazine could have potentially opened her up to more ethics investigations, and jeopardize her grandbaby's daddy's job. Like I said before, she just does not know when to shut the f up.

Maybe she had a little too much of the bubbly (it was New Years Eve), and can blame it on drunk dialing.

Notalib, you are perhaps the most annoying , ignorant poster I have come across. I think Gryphen's sarcasm and intelligence is waaay over your head. You've been dumbed down by Rush, Glenn, and Fox News. You don't get the point. He knows you have to know someone to get these jobs, but the point is Levi does not have the necesssary legal REQUIREMENTS to meet federal regulations. Nobody would really know or probably care about this, until Sarah, in her infinite wisdom left that voice mail at People Mag and issued a press release on her official site. She has once again revealed herself to be a stupid self serving narcissist. Right now she is bordering on tragic, and taking her family down with her. Those kids deserve better.

Gryphen have you watched her New Years interview on You Tube with that CBC show The Hour? It is surreal. She talks like she's still on the campaign trail.

    Sarah...please....stop.

  5. My husband is a high school teacher - he says most definitely Levi and Bristol would both be considered dropouts.

Sure there are other methods of getting a GED - but that is NOT an equivalent to a high school education.

There is just so much more that is learned by actually attending school - socialization skills, debates, writing papers, exchange of ideas with a variety of teachers, etc. etc. An online or correspondence course is no substitute.

No matter how Sarah Palin wants to change the definition to suit her politically, she can't.

Granted some dropouts and GED holders go on to get a good education and work hard to educate themselves - but in most cases they don't.

  6. Notalib has been kicked off Mudflats and Palindeception.com already, for obvious reasons.

I'm sure Gryphen will take care of things if Notalib trolls here, too.

  7. And...whatever happened to the original story (during the campaign) that Bristol had 'finished early' taking 'long distance courses'? Now she's still taking courses? Sarah changes her tune once again...

Thankfully, someone at ADN is finally waking up! Dan Fagen (who also runs the website www.thealaskastandard.com asked the same in his newspaper column http://www.adn.com/opinion/comment/story/641263.html and, gee, didn't get a call back from the Gov's office. Hummm.
